    Nice work. Simple but effective dio.
    BTW I quiet like the contrast between the warmth of the woodgrain base and the cool rusted metal of the mk and the dry inhospitable ground work. Works for me.

      Well, I just looked at it again and I still think it looks distracting, but oh well. Nice to hear you like it!

    • @earlware4322
      @earlware4322 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do see what you mean about it being distracting, maybe because the wood grain is so prominent. On this particular display I think if the wood base was a darker stain, or paint, it might help some.
      Still all in all I like it. Its ths models that draw my attention and thats where the focus should be. That interior cockpit is amazing! Maybe if it was highlighted with LEDs it might conteract the wood base.

    • @spacehamsterZH
      @spacehamsterZH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@earlware4322 Hmm... honestly, I think with LEDs in the cockpit, there would be even more of a need for the base to call less attention to itself because there would be too much going on. You kind of want to make sure you don't have too many focal points competing for attention at the same time, same as with an illustration.
      I kinda like that idea, though, maybe I can work up the courage and motivation to put some LEDs in an Ammoknight cockpit sometime... that's the same cockpit and a simpler overall construction, it probably wouldn't be too difficult to run wires through the legs and into the cockpit.

    You’d think the bastards would throw in a pilot figure if they’re going to make the suit have an open cockpit option.

    • @spacehamsterZH
      @spacehamsterZH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is a pilot head included if you want to build it just with the hatch in the front open.
      What's weird is that the Griffon, also from Hasegawa, does come with not one, but two figures, a pilot for the cockpit and a mechanic lady to display alongside it. Makes you wonder why some kits have them and some kits don't.
      tbqh, though, those Hasegawa plastic figures really aren't great, and the resin ones from most manufacturers that make them for Ma.K are much better, so, you know... I don't mind all that much.

    • @brunneng38
      @brunneng38 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spacehamsterZH I’m still not on top of knowing all the differences as to who makes what. I’ve got waves 2 and 3 of the gachanen. Two of the 1/20!scale and one of those 1/35 sized two-pack kits. And all the resin Ma.K “characters” I’ve seen for sale always appear to be garage kits or recasts. Not even sure what an “original” would look like.

    • @spacehamsterZH
      @spacehamsterZH  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brunneng38 Here's what I know:
      1) There are currently two companies that make plastic kits, Hasegawa and Wave. Wave have some kits that they design themselves (basically the SAFS and similar ones) that are snapfit and relatively simple. They're also producing reissues of older Nitto kits like the Luna Gans that are more complex and require glue. Hasegawa's are all glue kits. Although I would say you need glue for Wave's snapfit kits as well because they have giant seamlines everywhere.
      2) Hasegawa generally keep their kits in production, while Wave release them in, well, waves - they're relatively affordable when they come out if you get them from retailers like HLJ, but then they go out of production again and you're stuck with eBay scalpers.
      3) The pilot figures you can buy separately are all resin models from small manufacturers like Brick Works and the like, except for one set from Hasegawa that I'm aware of. There's a small gold foil sticker on the packaging that lets you know whether they're authentic - unfortunately there are a ton of recasts on places like eBay, so I never buy anything unless there's a picture of the packaging.
      4) There are also resin models of vehicles and mechs from smaller companies, especially Love Love Garden, which are typically really expensive because of the smaller production runs.

    Looks really good! I was all ways confused how these Ma.K suits aimed though 🤔

    • @spacehamsterZH
      @spacehamsterZH  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the idea is that they have cameras on the outside and screens inside in the cockpit. Unless you're talking about the fact that none of them can really hold their weapons, haha.

    Superb job,it really looks great.I kept meaning to say that I think you're somehow getting screwed by some TH-cam algorithm,you should have way more subscribers even if our interests are a bit "niche".If this isn't what TH-cam was meant for then what the Hell is?✌👍

    • @spacehamsterZH
      @spacehamsterZH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, man. The one thing I've read a lot that I'm definitely doing wrong is that I don't have a regular output, I just put up a video when I have something to show and then sometimes I disappear for weeks. Given that even the super popular channels get most of their views from non-subscribers, I'm not sure I buy that that's a huge issue, though. Oh well.

    • @grahamsmith2022
      @grahamsmith2022 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@spacehamsterZH well the very nature of what the channel is about prevents daily video release,these kits are incredibly demanding on time for one person to be releasing videos like that,not to mention time spent editing the video etc.It just shows what kind of people run these organisations and why there's all sorts of lightweight content on TH-cam.

    • @spacehamsterZH
      @spacehamsterZH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@grahamsmith2022 there's other modelers who do WIP videos where they actually film themselves working, that's actually how I learned most of what I know about painting and weathering... but I'm gonna be honest, I tried that once (the final WIP video for the Berserk Fury), and I like the video, but it was just way, way, WAY too time consuming. But doing that kind of stuff allows others who do similar things to be more prolific, and those kinds of videos are what people really want to see.
      But I've got a small following of Zoids fans who tell me on other sites/apps that they're always looking forward to my Zoids Wild reviews and stuff, so, you know, I do get a bit of validation there, so it's ok. One guy from Vietnam is giving me a discount on a super rare item because he likes my channel and is expecting me to make a video about it.

      @grahamsmith2022 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@spacehamsterZH yes, I concur with what you say. I remember the berserk fuh...... fury video, I really enjoyed it because I'd never seen a HMM Zoid before, let alone all those cool paint effects, the closest I ever got to that was 'Citadel Miniatures' in the 1980's but I was just using basic techniques. I can imagine how very time consuming a painting and construction video is,but yes, I'm always glad to see a new one of your videos.
      I knew you'd find a 'Red Ultrasaurus' sooner or later!! 😆😉✌️

    • @spacehamsterZH

      It's the Maschinen Krieger property by Kow Yokoyama, a relatively obscure line of model kits, but they've been around for a long time. Not a whole lot of media available outside of the models, though. The kits are from Hasegawa (the mech) and Love Love Garden (the pilot) - you shouldn't have too much difficulty finding the Hasegawa stuff online, but Love Love Garden is a small company and their figures tend to be difficult to find. I looked for this one for a long time.
