If it was me I would make up some more substantial mounting brackets/gussets for that plate that run down the outside of the frame rails, in addition to the traction bar mount. That is a very heavy chunk of plate. If that breaks off going down the highway it could kill someone. That is not something to "It'll be fine" on. You want it to be rock solid with no chance of failure.
Fordman7575 When we were kids we used to ride down the road in the bed of a pickup and pitch our old car tires and watch em blast off into the woods. Or roll for a stupidly long time. What awesome power, seeing a 60’ tree shake back and forth!
It has over 4 brace points not including the bar weld. you will notice it start to crack or vibrate when it starts to let go shouldn't be an issue. If he wasn't gonna add the front gusset/bars I'd be sketched out as well.
Big shoutout to your teacher! Really cool of him to do that and show interest in what you are doing! Lot of them would tell you to kick rocks. He’s a good guy!
Hell yeah dude. You're civic is now really feeling like the Main Character for your channel. You got some cool stuff on her. Represent man! The weight plate/traction bar setup is freakin serious!
It's nice to see a car channel take on multiple projects and actually show progress! One day my garage is gonna look like that. Right now all i have is an evo x but for sure want more cars.
Your teacher seems chill. My favorite thing about this channel is all the people that surround you. You have an amazing group of people, Kyle. Never let them go.
Hay Kyle i have a vtec h22 that’s getting scraped if I do a conversion in a Honda carb set up wat would I need to take out of the prelude with the vtec?? Like loom and how far back or ???? Need advise thanx man.
The traction plate looks pretty slick man, killer can vlog with your teacher giving a hand cutting stuff up. It's gonna be sick seeing the bumper on now lookin fresh af.
When you treat people nice and put great energy into the world, great things are returned to you and you receive blessings just like being able to go back to your school.
question i wanna but a honda block in my car its a opel omega b2 2.2 liter rwd but to make it sleeper and a good daily drive what sort of block are you saying to be perfect with 300-500 hp and wil it work with a manaul from bmw 525 with some work do you maybe have a tip i realy want do it for long time but i dont know much on honda engines i want it like a fun build and to learn to do this sort of things i know for fact that transmission wil fit in the car but with de blok i am not sure maybey just like the honbaru adapter plate and a clutch hope you guys have good advies Thanks.
Great video man good job on the measurements and installation. You are definitely legendary in my eyes you, pfi, Emilio all of y’all are great ppl and know how to shred shit up much love man
You should jack it up and also run several beads or the entire length to the underside of the plate to the traction bar as well. Also with the amount of room you have with the bumper cover on and the amount of extra steel plate you have left over you could have your teacher cut several smaller plates (like 4-5” x 34”) You could then drill that main plate for 2 3/4” x 6” or bigger bolts and then weld them to the main plate and you’ll have a mounting point to stack additional plates on top of the main plate if you need more weight on the front of the car.
I will never forget my wonder metals teacher in high school.RIP Bob Patterson. Kuddo's to great teachers to those of us who actually still make shit with our hands. (CNC, whatever the case, making something from nothing.) Good job Kyle! Hint: its teacher appreciation week btw***
Great Video #BoostedBoiz! What is the purpose of a weight plate beside adding weight? Is there something to do with the vehicle center of gravity? Thank you again!
Sorry for the total soonish question the tune you use when you start to grind on your traction bar what song is it Kyle been looking for some time now. Love all the work you show on your channel mate give me inspiration into my eventual project
Seems like a super chill instructor, you got lucky. Some are really smug, cheers Kyle 🤙 p.s. you should do a merch drop to fund a new welding setup... just a thought.
Looks good man i think its going to need those extra supports thats alot of weight hangin out there. I drilled a hole in the back of my welder with a gromet and made a mount for an external spool.
Should of used a wire wheel for taking the paint off and check the torch bar to see if it is level and then parallel the weight plate onto the torch bar is square to the plate; and for safety in a crash the plate in front of the tires needed to be turned down so edge metal will not dig into the tires in a front end crash so you do not loose air pressure in a wreck and you can still have control a little better in the event of a crash.
I recommending adding some support to the front of that lip of the sheet metal to support it so it can’t flop up and down over uneven Surfaces or getting a harmonic vibration that can cause it to wiggle up and down and cause it to fail and rip at that bar you welded the plate to.
Your Man Mike Some community colleges will have even more special equipment depending on what industries are big in the region in order to help with jobs for grads.
andruw wilson plasma is super heated or electrically conducted gas, it's not a natural element on earth. This machine is basically a propane cutting torch on steroids , it also is extremely cheap.
Correct me if I am wrong but doesn’t that traction bars function is to be torsioned and overall function to resist body roll? Or is it supposed to be as stiff to keep the frame squared up? By him adding that plate, it would basically mean that now you would have to torsion the whole plate which is going to be very hard.
Jaime Torres traction bars just keep the control arms from moving. When launching without the bar the tires pull the control arms forward from play in the bushings. When they load up they snap back causing wheel hop. The traction bar just keeps the crontrol arm from moving forward or back in the wheel well. Roll bars resist roll.
Josh Crutchley makes total sense. I’ve only worked on framed Toyota’s 4Runners and Tacoma’s and obviously the unibody design is a whole different ball game that I confess, I forget that you have issues like that. I guess I was mixing roll bar with tension bar.
Legend says that if you are early kyle pins your comment
Honda CR125 Motard legend says he only rides 4 strokes
Wow you won.
Not today!
MURKIN RANZYZ it sounds like we have a angry bitch
Naysean Traylor Devlin oh don't talk about your sister like that you know she give free rides like a free shuttle bus lol
Your teacher is such a chill guy 👌🏻
Sam Jones I wish my welding teacher was as chill
Teacher is a really nice dude
Now that’s a legit weight plate

He should at least test it by standing a couple of guys on it to check the strength of the supports holding it up
Big shoutout to your teacher! Really cool of him to do that and show interest in what you are doing! Lot of them would tell you to kick rocks. He’s a good guy!
Popped up in my feed after watching your podcast interview in your garage.
Hell yeah dude. You're civic is now really feeling like the Main Character for your channel. You got some cool stuff on her. Represent man! The weight plate/traction bar setup is freakin serious!
You're very fortunate to have all these good people in your life.
It's nice to see a car channel take on multiple projects and actually show progress! One day my garage is gonna look like that. Right now all i have is an evo x but for sure want more cars.
PRANKurFACE I have too many cars, but I hope my garage will start looking more like that soon! We share a dream. :)
An evo is still good car to have if only have one
Your teacher seems chill. My favorite thing about this channel is all the people that surround you. You have an amazing group of people, Kyle. Never let them go.
You should give your welding teacher a ride in the hatch
way too white.
electron being lmfao 🤣
electron being you’re obviously waaaaaaay too black.

i've seen people put the battery in the front for weight but never a 1/2" plate. Goddamn Kyle, you magnificent bastard!
When ur done welding it paint or clear coat it so it doesn't start rusting
Literally the best channel on TH-cam
It actually is wtf
I Am Sekou your a bitch

" Sorry Ktuned " 😂
YoungTurnUp 47 kyle has always been a savage
What a great teacher you have there Kyle, he really seems like he’s a good guy.. hi from Australia 👍👍
That guy seems like a really great teacher. Loves what he does and it shows.
why u opted to go 1/2" instead of a slightly thinner gauge? also how does it feel now with the plate installed in terms of traction?
He was correct. Your tig welding is on point 👌
*WHATS GOING ON GUYS?* *Clicking intensifies*
I have a question what model welder did you get cuz I'm going to start a project

Never heard of a weight plate, pretty cool
that's cool of your teachers man. seems to be proud of you legit. keep at it man.. love the channel!
Hey man I’ve been wanting to take classes on welding is there a way you can drop that schools information?
Would that help with cooling as well?
Is the tig welder not strong enough to do the welds?
Great video man good job on the measurements and installation. You are definitely legendary in my eyes you, pfi, Emilio all of y’all are great ppl and know how to shred shit up much love man
That hatch looks incredibly good well done kyle
2023 and I'm still watching
Hey I'm thinking of going to welding school. How long was it and what tips do you got?
Are the tires gonna hit when you turn? It looks really close
Kyle please sort out playlists for the different builds on the channel as I'm having trouble finding all the SW20 k series build
Richard Culbertson the problem is that the cars are split up 1 video might have 3 different projects
The weight plate won't hit the tire when u turn the tires?
Awesome job Kyle!!! Looks so sick!
Some pointers on upgrades for a vq30de?

i wonder if you need stiffer springs on your bc coilovers
hell yea dude that thing looks fantastic! cant wait to see if it helps out!
That came out siiiick!
Can't wait to see the first animal that gets cut in half while trying to run across the road!
The intercooler fits?
Bro... All those grinder shavings right into your inter-cooler pipe...
You see the rag stuffed in there.. also not like it's running and sucking air. But hey I'm an idiot lol
Awesome teacher you have Kyle!
That looks so good and has multiple functions, GREAT JOB KYLE.
Seems like a super chill instructor, you got lucky. Some are really smug, cheers Kyle 🤙 p.s. you should do a merch drop to fund a new welding setup... just a thought.
dont you wanna be able to remove it while leaving the traction bar?
like add big tabs to bolt er up
The satisfaction is unreal 🤤
Ur tires turn 2 full lock??
Clean, clean, clean!!!! Nice work!!
I'm definitely not a honda person, but love what you guys do to those things and the work that goes into them. Keep it up!
Im blind but i forgot to tell ya that you should have corner balanced the car to figure out what weight to add where.
Awesome work Kyle! That bumper fits perfect now 👍
Kyle is the true definition of built not bought
Looks good man i think its going to need those extra supports thats alot of weight hangin out there. I drilled a hole in the back of my welder with a gromet and made a mount for an external spool.
Why dont you have a front bash bar?
UPDATE So I’m back in Cali after going to Colorado with no sight of Kyle flying by 8k revs deep. Depressed af
Eric Lopez :'(
Your welding teacher is cool af to let you so that. I want one of those machines
Hey is your hatch a "eg" or a "ek"????
Should of used a wire wheel for taking the paint off and check the torch bar to see if it is level and then parallel the weight plate onto the torch bar is square to the plate; and for safety in a crash the plate in front of the tires needed to be turned down so edge metal will not dig into the tires in a front end crash so you do not loose air pressure in a wreck and you can still have control a little better in the event of a crash.
Hey r u come to the call out in N.C. On the 23rd of next mouth ? I live 5 miles from the track party at my house.....
thats a teacher of yours ? awesome dude. we need more of those types.
That fitment is perfect bro!
You go Kyle, get it done, lol.
Will you still have room to turn with that plate on?
Boost them braces boi
Dude that came out perfect!!!
i think that is the chillest teacher ever
real nice job kyle!
that is one hella heavy shin killer... def doubles as a great splitter.
I recommending adding some support to the front of that lip of the sheet metal to support it so it can’t flop up and down over uneven Surfaces or getting a harmonic vibration that can cause it to wiggle up and down and cause it to fail and rip at that bar you welded the plate to.
Are you sure that you can't fit a larger spool with an adaptor? I have the same setup with my Lincoln weldpak 100.
That fits perfect awesome job man thanks for the upload
Love your build mate. Makes me want to build another h2b but turbo this time. Keep it coming dude
Dang the hatch is really becoming a full fledged race car good job Kyle keep surprising us .
Def gotta take Jeff for a run for cutting the plate. Top guy.
Shout out to all the Kyles out there 👌🏼
Id see if you can fit a crashbar on the subframe mounts, about flush to then or a little off to fit the raid and intercooler
bro what school is this? Im going to take a welding program at the Aims campus in Greeley. How was your welding program? How many semesters was it?
Is the event the high school drags bro?
Wow is that a college metal work room way different compared my schools 1
Community college, more specialised than a regular college.
Your Man Mike Some community colleges will have even more special equipment depending on what industries are big in the region in order to help with jobs for grads.
More of the subi build. You guys need to build that motor and make it a monster.
Nice one Kyle. Good work
I wish there was a place like this on the eastern shore of MD
You need to take your teacher for a ride along, that would be gold for the channel
Congratulations on your graduation I know your builds are about to be off the hook now👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Loving the progress on all the cars and the channel!
Is plasma cutting like welding without adding metal
andruw wilson plasma is super heated or electrically conducted gas, it's not a natural element on earth. This machine is basically a propane cutting torch on steroids , it also is extremely cheap.
Why did you use aluminum instead ?
Sick bro how much does something like that run
Still have the file?
Added front bumber. Now no hood?

It's adding a solid amount of integrity to the frame just the way it is in my opinion.
