- Dragon Ball Z Kakarot's new DLC is here, and with it is our first taste of the original Dragon Ball in the game. Kid Goku is playable, and the DLC starts out against Demon King Piccolo. All of this will go through the 23rd World Tournament of Dragon Ball, aka the 23rd Budokai Tenkaichi. Should be a lot of fun - subscribe for more!

15:07 - We actually do know. There's two conversion methods for Zeni, Yen, and USD. In an interview Toriyama says 1 zeni is equal to 1 yen which is Japanese currency, but in the Jaco manga Toriyama decided that 1 zeni is equivalent to 1.5 yen.
While the equivalence varies depending on inflation but currently it's $1 USD is worth 145.42 yen or Zeni in Toriyama's interview version of Zeni. In Jaco's version it's 218.13 yen/zeni to $1 USD.
So for the Buu saga 25th tournament Hercule won 10 million Zeni which is $68K Toriyama's version or $45K Jaco's version.

I feel the same way Deion. Colleen as Gohan sounds great, but Stephanie will always be Kid Goku for me. You can't change what she did for all of Dragonball, Z and GT. Also on that note. I grew up with Dragonball. it's a wholesome show where Goku went on adventures with Bulma and the gang it was awesome.
I would beg to differ for GT. That show was so slow and dull, nobody is better or worse than the other for doing that. Everyone loses. :D
Her Gohan was memeworthy bad, but she was perfect for simple little kid Goku.

Bruh this was literally my first thought as soon as I heard it fr. That voice was cool for gohan, but the og voice just hit different. I can’t really see goku sounding like this at all fr 🤷🏾♂️

King Piccolo was pretty much a proto Z villain, he marks the end of Dragon Ball’s gag nature and the beginning of the high stakes drama.

The open world was completely wasted on Z. Most of the areas are only relevant because of the OG. Vehicles and the Kintoun were wasted in the regular game because you could fly.
Dragon Ball’s adventure and questing elements obviously make sense for an RPG, where they all felt forced for Z.
Colleen is a great actress but there’s no way she didn’t record these lines after a One Piece session as Luffy because Kid Goku’s voice a bit deep 😅
No disrespect or anything but I wish she voiced him here like she did in FighterZ with GT Goku, that was probably her best performance as the character 👍🏻

Dude, this DLC is amazing!! I've always LOVED Dragon Ball and the more grounded fights focused on martial arts were a major part of that (along with the sense of adventure too). So far, this DLC has captured the feeling 100%! Even love how they added additional minor details, and other cool stuff like Tien's Chronicles. I'm looking forward to the next episode!

Between the cool ways to actually extend your combo in creative ways by jumping after certain attacks, the flashstep's little dust cloud and zig zaggy movement compared to the air one that feels more robotic, and the nimbus cloud's new boosting ability to make traversal interesting it really genuinely feels like the kakarot formula was much more fit for OG dragonball rather than Z
Oh and that's not forgetting the fact that the narrower and more melee super attacks mean you have to actually aim and use the attacks right rather than just spam a ridiculously wide beam or massive AOE super that makes the already relatively easy fights even easier, not to say I don't like the visual spectacle but I prefer the more grounded moves from this DLC a lot more

A remaster of Dragon Ball would be amazing with updated visuals and voice acting for newer and older audiences. However there does come the problem of people preferring Stephanie over Colleen, as well as a dislike of Monica Rial from certain groups of people, so it’s unlikely to ever happen.

Honestly having more of the OG Dragon Ball would be great Jackie Chun V Goku was legendary seeing that Kakarot would be awesome. And monster carrot too. I’d also love a GT DLC potentially SSJ4 in Kakarot style would be beautiful
By the way Deion, you can press the left trigger to jump, and if an opponent is in the air, you can follow up with melee attacks

I could be wrong but I think Goku just wore the turban because of the training with Kami. Its just speculation but I think the idea is it being similar to the turtle shells Goku and Krillin wore. in other words a type of weighted training method. I mean we know Piccolo's was so why wouldn't Goku's be? That's what I am assuming anyway.
Also I'd LOVE to see more OG Dragonball stuff. Its a big reason Tenkaichi 3 always stuck with me. We had Devilman in that. FREAKING DEVILMAN! XD Just seeing Z stuff over and over again just kinda hurts as an OG dragonball fan. Seeing anything focus on THAT era would be so cool!
I’d argue there is a lot of depth with the combat if you take the time to finish out all the skill trees. You can do really satisfying strings and infinites in this game.
This got me wanting to see you finish Revenge of King Piccolo
I personally spent a lot of time in vanilla Kakarot on foot roaming around. I did a lot of the gathering stuff and got the platinum trophy. What would have fixed the game was not having the full map zoned off. Having access to just fly to each and every zone, plus a fast travel option, would have been optimal.

I believe Piccolo Jr. is only about 3 here. By the time he's training Gohan Piccolo Jr. is about 8 if I remember correctly.
There is way too little OG Dragon Ball content. I miss that setting. It'd be cool to get like a prequel spin-off series covering Master Roshi's journey. His whole shtick was that he was the adventurer who already got all the legendary items and became the strongest in the world. Let us see that!

I honestly still prefer the og voices in the dub for Kid Goku, Kid/Teen Gohan. Also the og dub voices for bulma and Frieza. I do like the new voice for Frieza. But prefer the og voice still.
I get the Goku and Gohan thing. And while I def prefer new Bulma to old Bulma, I can get liking the old one. But I cannot stand old Frieza. It sounds so bad to me
@@jacobabraham55 everyone has their preferences and that’s okay. I never could get use to the new bulma voice just doesn’t sound right to me. I personally I just like the old Frieza voice. I don’t think the voice sounds odd. To each their own.
To me I agree that Colleen works more for young Gohan than kid Goku, especially after having her voice grow on me a bit. But no one can replace Stephanie as Kid Goku. Colleen sounds way too noble and mature more than Sean as Adult Goku somehow. I know it's against King Piccolo here so it makes sense but idk hard to explain

Maybe I’m just nostalgic, but a Tenkaichi Budokai isn’t complete without Hiroki Takahashi’s Mezase Tenkaichi. Which to me is the greatest Dragon Ball franchise song.
I can not watch Jackie Chun vs Goku without that song playing in the background. Feels like a sin if it's not there with how magical the scene is with it.

I believe they can do it both grounded and aerial but the aerial aspect like budokai 3 where you get the dragon balls but have to search the ground for them and interact with the city by flying over it and land but it changes with each story progression, and the rewards are different each time
Honestly when I first heard about this DLC I was kinda bummed out because I was really hoping they'd release a full dragon ball game as a prequel type thing. Original dragon ball fits much better in an rpg setting than Z

Honestly really love the grounded battles of kakarot for the same reasons you listed, it felt like those days of dragon ball again
If I'm not wrong Chiaotzu (Chaos in my language) is the heir of a great emperor, I can't remember how he end up in the Crane School but he do have royal blood in him.
As for Tien being broken, you must remember that the Crane School is meant to be an Anti-Turtle School style so his moveset is pratically made to counter Goku, Yamcha, Krillin and Roshi. As for his fight with Yamcha both were at the same level but Tien did had the advantage of having the Uno reverse card against everything Yamcha had but the Wolf Fang Fist. When Yamcha fired his Kamehameha he spend so much ki on that and let himself open to Tien counter him, it was a tatical mistake that Yamcha commited and Tien was counting on that.
Yamcha is a great fighter but just like Cu Chulainn he have the worse luck, getting to fight unorthodox fighters that can counter him (Tien, Invisible Man...), overpower him by far (Literally God, an android design to kill saiyans) or just get to fight someone who have a cheap move that no one could imagine (Saibaman... It could have been anybody at that point, Yamcha fought first so just like the Survey Corps he was destined to die on a battle against an unknown threat!)

I appreciated the original Dragon Ball series for its grounded approach and focus on martial arts skills. The fights were meticulously choreographed, allowing us to observe the characters' technical movements in combat unlike the current focus on transformations and rapid, repetitive movements/animations in fight scenes that feels less engaging. I believe creating a game centered around the original Dragon Ball could be a successful idea, especially since many casual Dragon Ball fans might not have experienced the original series.

I agree with the grounded open world part. I felt like being able to fly right from the get-go really took out a lot of the immersive experience from the world. If it started off straight from DB where the characters only had their feet and cars to explore with in the beginning, the world would feel a lot bigger and being able to traverse it faster and faster would be somewhat of a reward for playing through the game and unlocking things. Plus, the machines would actually have some use other than just being an incredibly slow and dull side mission.
