Future Gohan is one of the few anime characters that deserved a last stand. I love what they did here with Gohan, the same thing that the developers of Naruto Ninja Storm 2 did with Jiraiya.
Unrelated but damn this reminded me that Trunks really is the embodiment of Hope. As well as what a Super Saiyan is maybe even to a higher extent than Goku.
I really love that they made it more prominent in this one that Gohan not only went out swinging, but blasting a one handed kamehameha with everything he had, a really good contrast to how he beats Cell in the alternate timeline. So sad that his timeline was pretty much made to experience the whole "anything that can go wrong, will go wrong" saying, but 10x worse.
The androids were both using half their powers to beat gohan with 1 arm, that means gohan with both arms is stronger than a single android. The problem is they're always jumping him

The manga had it where 17 just kills him off panel alone with 18 laughing, while the special never stated that, which almost gives it 2 separate feelings, with the mangas being that he had no chance at all (even though with his potential and 14 years of gradual training you would think he would be closer) and the TV Special showing that Gohan COULD have done it if he wasn’t at a disadvantage

To be fair to trunks, he did believe that by tagging along, he was holding Gohan back a bit (he says multiple times that he won't hold him back anymore) and the one battle where he knew Gohan fought alone, Gohan was short a whole arm. So I am willing to cut the poor guy some slack 😂
I still gotta give the OVA props for how they handled Trunks going Super Saiyan. But yeah the game did a great job with Future Gohan. Best Gohan and one of the most badass DB characters there is.

Gohan having to fight the androids with his energy spent and firing his last Kamehameha reminded me of Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 after Jiraiya died, and Naruto (after hearing about it) was walking around Konoha village with his head down, both are somehow more impactful in their games than they were in their anime.
This was incredible. Future Trunks is my favorite character, and the extra touches they added to his, and Future Gohan's relationship, made me tear up for the first time since I originally saw the special. It really did hit different this time, and I applaud the developers for putting in so much effort.
15:50 Trunks was in a pretty similar situation in his last fight against the Androids in the special. He was pretty drained and couldn't faze them transformed

When Trunks become a Super Saiyen : with the sound you matched with this cutscene, why i'm crying on this scene than the anime itself? Because with the whole (sick) transformation is so shiny to my eyes bro! So beautiful
imagine they made this scene in another game as well and it was like a button mash and it gets really hard and *nearly* unbeatable, but if the player somehow succeeds we get an achievment with a smaller spinoff story where it is "What If Mirai/Future Gohan Won?" and we go up to the black Arc where gohan does die near the middle of it

They at least gave Gohan a bit more dignity in the game, in the movie he really didn’t get to do sh**, they just flung him around mostly. The special was sad, but everything this DLC did was Truly special. No matter how many times I watch it, it just gives me goosebumps honestly. Such a tragic moment and that last stand was an incredible choice. Besides the music going instantly to happy, this was perfect. RIP the legend.

Everybody talking about how the last stand thing was like Jiraya in storm 2, but I think a much better one is when peter has a last stand against Anti-Venom in "Spiderman Edge of Time". It really made you feel powerless as peter could barely throw a punch and was just wobbling around while you're controlling him, and at the same time 2099 spiderman is trying to rush and save him. By the time he gets there it's too late, 2099 spiderman holds Peter in his arms, and the title screen appears. Great music, great scene, great game.
Nothing in Dragonball history will ever top Gohan's death. I also can't help but wonder if they were in other world waiting on Trunks to go to Namek and wish them back to life
Ah yes, the era when Dragon Ball (and shonen anime in general really) still had the balls to pull through on its punches. Good narrative, actually earned emotional moments, good stuff.
Honestly, these DLCs are probably the definitive version for telling their respective stories This final stand was one of the best additions ever. Instead of having no chance at all, he's giving it his all which is parallel to Gohans final Kamehameha against Cell, only with a different, more tragic ending This DLC will forever be a 10/10 in my eyes. This is what happens when game devs actually care about the source material
Honestly, this DLC is the perfect choice for the final Kakarot DLC. Since Kakarot is Goku's story, it makes sense the last story tells what would happen if he wasn't around anymore.
I think a main reason as to why the game did it better was because we fought as the Gohan who had no more ki left to do anything to the androids, as they belittle us we feel that our end is neigh, we feel powerless as these monsters play a game with our life as they eventually decide to finish the job, this dear viewers is something we call, Narrative or what most say it as "Show don't tell".
I like how there’s a mini fan manga where it shows piccolo knocking out gohan the same way he did trunks before dying further showing how gohan finally understood piccolo and why he did that. I just love how future gohan and future trunks relationship mirrors gohan and piccolo so much in general
The music that you put with the best scenes in all of dragonball and my favorite Gohan when Gohan died and trunks saw him I couldn't help my self, I cried to that scene with the music you added. It was beautiful. Goodbye Gohan.

Nothing in Dragonball history will ever top Gohan's death. I also can't help but wonder if they were in other world waiting on Trunks to go to Namek and wish them back to life

This final stand was one of the best additions ever. Instead of having no chance at all, he's giving it his all which is parallel to Gohans final Kamehameha against Cell, only with a different, more tragic ending
This DLC will forever be a 10/10 in my eyes. This is what happens when game devs actually care about the source material

Honestly, this DLC is the perfect choice for the final Kakarot DLC. Since Kakarot is Goku's story, it makes sense the last story tells what would happen if he wasn't around anymore.

I think a main reason as to why the game did it better was because we fought as the Gohan who had no more ki left to do anything to the androids, as they belittle us we feel that our end is neigh, we feel powerless as these monsters play a game with our life as they eventually decide to finish the job, this dear viewers is something we call, Narrative or what most say it as "Show don't tell".
I like how there’s a mini fan manga where it shows piccolo knocking out gohan the same way he did trunks before dying further showing how gohan finally understood piccolo and why he did that. I just love how future gohan and future trunks relationship mirrors gohan and piccolo so much in general
Man only appeared for 2 episodes and a movie went to fight the androids knowing he would die and faced it like a warrior future gohan is a legend
