This was a signature game for the 1985 Bears. This was payback for the 1984 playoff defeat. In addition, it was proof positive that tough defense(the 46), physicality, and a heady quarterback(Jim McMahon) could defeat the vaunted "West Coast Offense". It was the real beginning of the Bears' 85 SB run.
@@timswauger8381January 6, 1989-the 1988 NFC Championship Game. The first year I was old enough to have vivid memories of a Bears season, I was 7. The bears had home field against the 49ers on a freezing January day, I remember thinking the bears would be playing the Cincinnati Bengals in Miami for Super Bowl XXlll. Bears lost 28-3, then the Cubs lost the 1989 National League Championship Series. This game Ditka put Fridge in carry the ball because Walsh did it with Guy McIntyre the year before.
I always felt like the 45-10 win against the Redskins was the holy shit these guys are for real game for the Bears that year. I remember the Skins quickly went up 10-0 and dominated the 1st quarter. Then the Bears absolutely crushed them the rest of the game. You just didn't see a Joe Gibbs coached team get whipped like that very often.
After being embarrassed by the 49ers in the 1984 NFC Championship, DA BEARS could not wait to come back to San Francisco and crush the 49ers during the 1985 Super Bowl Season!!
Y a toda esos jugadores extraordinarios y entrenadores. Gracias.
Buddy Ryan's defense was the best I've ever seen, what a fun year of football the super bowl shuffle, Walter Payton etc...

But it didn't last very long. What did was the memory of this game for the 49ers. The 1988 NFCCG was payback.
The Bears only got ‘85, but the Niners got 5 and a dynasty.

@@saber26ful this isn’t about the Niners dude…. Without other teams(and their fans )there’d be no league.

The 1984 49ers and the 1985 Bears are still to this day THE ONLY TEAMS to ever win 18 games in a season and the Super Bowl.
Jerry Rice 1st start, Ronnie Lot just moved to safety and advertising Patrick Ewing 1st game in the NBA. The players of my youth so long ago.
Payton 4th qtr drive. Masterful.

And that would be the only chip they get lol. The Niners had a dynasty. Bears were a flash in the pan.
@@saber26ful but youre still a mutt
Thank you for sharing these videos. I was pretty busy in 1985 and missed most all these games.
The birth of The Refrigerator at half back.
Thanks
Weird that Pat & John weren't on this game for CBS.
WR'S with hands on the ground! I still cant get over that when i see these old games
Love the commercials.

So many penalties against the 49ers this game. Mostly because of the pressure created by the Bears D
No playoff rematch between these 2 teams as the 49ers beaten up lost at the New York Giants in the wild card round
Beating the white haired wizard. It was worth it.
Felt good getting payback.
Ditka was 3 - 1 vs Walsh in the regular season. 0 - 2 in the playoffs.
Your point is. Ditka was a good coach. Walsh was a great coach. Not a fair comparison at all. ✌️
Super Bowl 19 1/2 !
I'm surprised CBS had Dick Stockton/Wayne Walker calling this game. Summerall/Madden did the Giants-Bengals game.
85,86 and 87 Bears were alot better than San Fran.
49 ers owned the 80s with SB though
First quarter heroics stopped short of multiple scores but the defense was strong n capable of holding champions😂
What kept the bears back was buddy leaving for Philly and ditka bs offense also Jim was never healthy.
Walter Payton scored two touchdowns off Ronnie Lott
Give me a break every time the 49ers did something positive the refs called holding on the 49ers home field
the ad for Dristan nasal spray... this was the 80s, so you know they used coke to get him breathing so quickly
