If you ever go back (for reference) Missouri City/Stafford/Pearland are southside suburbs (SW) for "US" lol the Nawf is kinda NE from Willowbrook to Atascocita

    I agree with much of what you said. There are so many gloomy days in Houston, everything is so spread out which makes the simplest tasks take forever, and it’s always crowded.
    That said, your point about figuring out WHERE to live is key. There are so many options in Houston. After 2 years in Houston, I’m ready to live on the outskirts for (hopefully) a better experience.

    Houston can be a culture shock. Texas in a whole. It's different in every region of the state. San Antonio is nice and the hospitality is on point. Houston can be hostile depending on where you are SE and SW side. Most ppl are dry as hell or nice as hell. It's a lot to do if you are in the mix. Black people tend to deal with family and cliques for the most part. Trail riding, bike clubs, zydeco events and car clubs are big. I respect your opinion and it ain't for everybody.

    • @manb4war
      @manb4war 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You people don't seem to realize that Houston is the FOURTH largest city in the United States. New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, HOUSTON. If you're from a small city, there typically is usually ONE culture of people, so there is usually a centralized place where black people kick it and socialize. Houston is too big for that and there are literally dozens of subcultures here. The people that are into trail rides and zydeco are mostly Louisiana transplants, they have their own music, food, dance, style of dress and even language. It's hard to fall into that culture because it goes back centuries, it's big fun to watch but unless you're a charismatic person, you won't feel embraced even though they are some of the nicest and friendliest people. Then there are the true Houstonians who keep to the Wards, South and Northsides of Houston, these people tend to be more blue collar type townsy type black people. They tend to keep to themselves, they don't really travel far outside of their neighborhoods. They like simple living and prefer hole in the wall type places. Those people are oftentimes misunderstood as stand offish but in reality they are just simple people that don't want to be judged for liking the BYOB type spots. Ask a coworker or something, they tell you where all the spots are. There is a bougie crowd but you'll rarely see those people, they have their places, wine bars, etc;. Your best bet for socializing and meeting people is church, the radio stations and the internet. Listen to 90.9, 102.1, 97.9 and 93.7 those are the stations that will tell you about ALL the events happening in the city. The first two are usually for the more mature, the last two are the young hip hop crowd events. Next is the cheat code, GOOGLE MAPS, if you search on Google Maps "black owned restaruants" it will literally show you a list of all restaurants with a tag that says, "Identifies as black owned". Create a list in Google Maps are add them to the "Want To Visit" list and start visiting. That way you can read reviews, see photos and see if it's in your budget range. You won't like them all but in the process you will find spots that you'll frequent and come back to, others you may never want to go back...That's the charm of Houston, with so many options, you can literally build your own little oasis. You will meet a lot of people, people in Houston like to eat and a lot of restaurants turn into mini clubs at night. If you're here or coming soon, I recommend KISS restaurant and Phil and Dereks both are excellent places to go vibe out and tap into the scene and talk to people about places to go, both have live music on some nights and a diverse crowd of people. The fun won't come to you like it does in smaller cities, you have to look for it, I gaurantee you it's here.

    I would say houston was fun up until i graduated high school but as you get older it becomes extremely boring because the only things to do are meet up at clubs and bars lol. Theres literally nothing else that people do they stay inside or go to the bar. If the bar or club scene is not for them they stay inside their home watching tv. Then your only goal becomes getting into a relationship because theres nothing else to do and moving to katy to purchase a 3 bed 3 bath home. Im moving to california next month

Cool friends, dating isn’t really a problem, but there’s something missing and I can’t pinpoint one things. Traffic, not a pedestrian friendly city, car dependency through the roof, NOBODY walks. The only thing to do for fun is go to a lounge, bar or club. Nobody from anywhere else what’s to visit Houston. I’m going back to Florida soon too. More expensive, yes! Better lifestyle, YES!

    I feel like if you don’t live near a beach or lake you will get bored easily in any major city. What else is there really to do besides shop, eat, go to lounges, and bars? You will get the same results. I live in Arizona it is nice for people who enjoy outdoors “hiking, golfing, offriding, atv wheeling, horseback riding, going to the lake for paddle boarding which is 1-2 hours out. The only thing about Arizona I don’t like is it is extremely too hot to do a majority of those outdoor activities after 10 am, so you are left to do what everyone else is complaining about drinking, going to bars etc. Building hobbies, going to networking and social events is the best way to improve your quality of life no matter where you live. I would move to Houston and fort lauderale has always been my dream place.

Not only that, but Houston is like a big country city. I couldn't imagine it has changed that much in 7 years. We always found stuff to do. The only people making videos like this seem to be women. One thing I noticed about women is stability and consistency make them bored. It's like my mom changing and rearrange the furniture in the house every 3-4 months 😂. But women now adays soon as a man brings consistency and stability she gets bored and sabotages the relationship and looks for someone else. They move somewhere, they get bored and want to move somewhere else. Women now adays don't simply know what stability is. That's why they fail at their jobs and relationships.

Yes, the running stop signs driving as fast as they think they can. We have winters in Minnesota and we have never had as many crashes here as we've had this past winter in all my years here. They better learn real fast though because they are giving out nice hefty tickets for speeders and I couldn't be happier. St. Paul has always felt like a small slower city than Minneapolis. TIA….. oh and I’m also going to subscribe and clap for you on your life’s journey👏🏼🙏🏼

      That’s a great question sorry I’m super late 🥹.. and a video on finances 🫠😫 idk if I’m fully equipped just yet. I’ll add my 2cents in a new year video .. advice moving to Florida : it could be pricey, we don’t have all 4 seasons.
      Beautiful days beautiful weather .. people down south could be blunt, up north people could be a bit nicer ..
      I always say don’t knock it till you try it, a city depends on what a person deem as important.. it’s really based on perspective. Hope that helps 🤍

    I've been in Houston for nearly 9 years now. I've met some nice people and I like it for the most part. That being said, I agree with everything you said. The driving is scary... the food is varied and plentiful, but not my preference in most cases. I think it's because you usually like what you're used to eating. I love Houston for many reasons, but I miss the east coast. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in your future.

    I also feel where a lot of black people go wrong at is that they want to move to where the rap music is coming from or came from like Atlanta and Houston. Sometimes we have to understand that moving to these places doesn't guarantee us a good quality of life.

    😂 born and raised. Pretty much agree. Houston is boring. I’m not from here. The foreigners do drive bad they run stop signs. The food is pretty good. If you know where to go. The humidity is horrible the winter is worse I always get the winter blues. Yes they stay in the house all day every day I even had to adjust to that. I’m moving back to the country. It’s always something going on in the country. It’s much safer. Enjoy your life girl.

    I've been out here for like 2 weeks almost 3. It is very gloomy. I'm like ehh. The city is like blah to tbh. It doesn't look clean just being honest. Looks like it's gray outside and the air is dry. It feels depressing. I'm hoping It gets better. It is very affordable out there though. Girl and honestly you are speaking the truth don't worry about what these people think. A lot of them are blatantly disrespectful out here. I think it just depends on the type of food. If youre talking food from the Caribbean, its going to be hard to compare to South Florida. My family is Southeast Asian and the food in Florida is awful for that, while amazing in Houston. So for Asian food, Houston. For food from the Caribbean Islands, Florida.

Beaches are definitely better in Ft. Lauderdale as is the weather. Food though? Nah and I say that as a person who essentially lived in Florida for summers during my childhood. Okay I am super late but, I wanted to tell you, I was born and raised in San Antonio (28Years & counting). Based off of everything you said, You might not like San Antonio. The culture may not be for you (I can elaborate if you want) as well as the food, The food scene here is TERRIBLE!!! and the crazy thing is I moved out for a year to live in Dallas and then came back to S.A. and realized how bad it was because there was so much good food in all of DFW and I got spoiled, so much that when I came back to San Antonio and didn't have those same options, I was so hurt. It definitely gets hotter here than in Florida. And the extreme heat (100+) can also be humid and dry depending certain factor day by day. The weather isn't as gloomy as Houston though. But it can still be uncomfortable for about 6 months. We are not on a beach but S.A. is the closest MAJOR city (4½ Hours) to the best beach in Texas which happen to be South Padre. If you're looking for South Florida quality water and sand, we don't have that but, South Padre is very beautiful for Texas and the pictures don't do it justice online, you actually have to visit. I could go further but that's just giving you an idea. I myself was thinking about either moving to back Dallas or giving Charlotte a try. I no longer have a car and I would have to attain one if I wanted to go to Charlotte where as in Dallas they have a good transportation system for people who live in inner city Dallas. Also anywhere where the light rail trains don't take you the buses will in a reasonable amount of time and, the thing that I liked about having a city with trains is they DON'T stop for traffic like buses so it makes getting places faster and smooth. But yeah, I could go on, I just wanted to give you an idea. If you're looking for Black culture and diversity at the same time then, San Antonio most definitely won't be for you nor will Dallas even though Dallas has a good amount of black people; way more then S.A., it won't be a Houston or an Atlanta AT ALL, especially San Antonio (S.A.) This city is built on Mexican culture. It's a predominantly Latino/Hispanic city, which there's nothing wrong with it but, it's not for everybody including myself who isn't of any Latin origin/background. I've been used to this all my life and I want different in a city with potentially less hotter weather too. But anyways live your life to the fullest, and if you or anybody who sees this comment has any questions about San Antonio, I can fill you in.
