- Spring Break 2024! This 18.4 mile adventure was along Bailey Canyon Road 2N49, and took me to Sugarpine Mountain, Bailey Peak, Pine Flat, and lots of other interesting stops.
Despite being so close to Cleghorn Road, this trail had a very different feel, and the weather seemed to change as often as the views.
Didn't know about this trail! Thanks, gonna bring up my wild motorcycle... LOL kidding -- it's a total putt-putt pig KLR
Glad you liked it! It’s a great little trail, I hope it didn’t get wiped out by the fires.
Relatively new 4runner owner and my first pin-striping was tough on me. Been trying to stick to wider trails to avoid that issue, so I'm bummed this trail is tight. I'll get over it soon, I hope, but not just yet, Lol. Thank you for the good info, though
Understood, wait on this one.
I can’t imagine buying a new vehicle and taking it here.
Just went up there yesterday!
So easy and fun
Your video helped me find this place
Great to hear, and glad you enjoyed it.
Were there lots of people? I was going to go up yesterday too, it decided to go fishing (video coming).
@@rohrsoutdoors do you know if you can camp up there?
@@cruzinthruspace I don’t, I’ve been meaning to call forest rangers.
How big are your tires size and ground clearance on your FJ?
I have 285s on a 3” Old Man Emu lift, and have been really happy with it.
I miss my FJ cruiser 😢should had never traded in. Now they're all 2-3x what I had gotten it for. Got a Jeep WK2 diesel now so I'll be hitting some of the trails (articulation nothing compared to the fj for the rockier trails) once I fix this clunking noise in my driver front
I love my FJ, even with 188,000 miles it’s hard to imagine getting rid of it.
@@rohrsoutdoorsyeah at the time I had to move further away from work and I couldn't keep up with the fuel expense because that thing gobbled up gas pretty quickly lol but if I ever come across one again (that I could afford) I'll probably go back to it. So is this trail more on the side of where lytle creek? I live in Lake arrowhead and trying to find easy trails to test out my wk2.
@@saint_keeblerElf yes, it is on the opposite side of the 15 from Lytle Creek.
My brother just moved into this area and I came across this trail. What you think about driving this with an Subaru Outback Wilderness?
I was actually on Bailey Canyon today! Yes, you should be able to navigate the terrain. Be aware the brush gets pretty tight in a few spots- you will definitely be getting some scratches.
@rohrsoutdoors yea ok. I was just up at Big Bear a couple of days ago, got some strips there.
@@broinsocali The mark of a well-traveled vehicle.
What psi do you drop down to on those roads?
@@jamescater802 18-22, typically 20.
@@jamescater802 it really smooths out the ride.
Is the start of the trail at the top of Palm in vedremont?
Yes. Several of the offshoots were closed off when I ran it, presumably due to rains. I took it north and ended up at Silverwood Lake.
@@rohrsoutdoors Cool brother! Thanks for the reply. I moved in the road from it and I always wondered where it led to or if we were even allowed in there. I will definitely check it out
Bailey Canyon is one of my favorites when I just want to get away for the day, there is a couple of hidden little offshoots on the trail to park and relax in relative solitude if you know where to look. If you don't keep your head on a swivel you'll drive right past them. Right now I have a 96 ZJ and a 91 Sidekick, on that trail even in the Suzuki I'm guaranteed to get pinstriped.🤣 It was a cool little video and you got a nice rig to do it in. 👍
Agreed. That was my first time, I am definitely going back in the fall.
hi I'm in San Gabriel Valley with a 97 ZJ that needs love -- my previous mechanic gave up on it and I am interested in finding someone "from the old days" who knows how to work on 'em. Do you have any suggestions for a mechanic? At 225K miles I am down for the whole rebuild or replace, there's no other rig I'd rather have so I wanna find a way.
Awesome! I'll have to check that trail out soon. I Just don't know about the pinstripping haha
It’s serious, and constant.
It was odd that whatever bulldozed the road didn’t cut it back any.
3:33 that fog made that so creepy lol
I was self filming, and every time I got out of the car and ran up the road to place a camera it was creeping me out.
I only saw three or four people the entire day.
@@rohrsoutdoors Sadly there was a plane crash on the bailey canyon trailhead just on Saturday
Yikes.
You should explore haunted places
Not exactly my jam.
Hey, pretty cool!
Thanks, it was way cooler than I thought it would be. I think the fog added to the sense of adventure.

Snarky comment goes here.
hi! what suspension do you have?🙂
Old Man Emu 3” lift. It was really stiff at first, but after a few months smoothed out and is great.
I don’t know if you’re in the Orange County area, mine was installed by Rocktech.
