This reminded me of that GameCube video we did years ago. I’ve come to appreciate the GameCube as time goes on. I always thought it was generally ignored because it didn’t come equipped with a DVD player.
awesome man! love the cube! Baiten Kaidos 1 and origins SSBM, Mario Kart DD the MGS remake is amazing even now! the music in that game is wicked! the gamecube is just a good system!
If you lose your Game Boy disc or want a better home-brew experience, there is a 3rd party solution, but it is a bit involved. You either need to use the Action Replay w/ a SD card or burn a special bootable DVDr. Instructions are here: www.retrorgb.com/gameboyinterface.html
One thing that I think might be worth mentioning in an ultimate GameCube setup is a sound system that supports Dolby Pro Logic II. To be fair, that's not something unique to the GameCube, but I feel that's something you gotta have when playing GameCube games.
You don’t need the disc for the GB Player, you can run it using homebrew called GB Interface. You should use GBI anyways, since it corrects most of the flaws of the original software when it comes to timing, image quality, scaling options and lag. Also it’s in active development and just keeps getting better
I need to check this out after hearing so much about it in the comments. I've always used the original GB Player bootdisc and have never had any problems with input lag even on my 4KTV setup, but the image quality (blurriness) with GBA games does leave a bit to be desired. It just seems to be a bit more blurry than it should, even given the fact its taking such a low res image and blowing it up. I will check this out and compare results. I'm happy with how it is already but if it can be even better that'd be great.
I notice thing come in cycles and its best to get ahead of the curve, so logically it best to start looking at getting the Wii before prices go through the roof mostly the rare games.
That's purely speculation. Aside from everything else, how is the general public/average reseller going to determinate what's actually "rare" on the Wii? I love the system and the library, but unfortunately, it gets a bad rep these days outside of Wii Sports, Mario Galaxy, Metroid, Kirby and Xenoblade. None of which are rare in the slightest. Wii isn't like these other systems. Neither is Gamecube. There's a reason Ikaruga has never been lower than $50 yet Metal Arms Glitch and Mystic Heroes are far less readily available and only worth $10. No one on a large scale will be looking for games on these systems like with retro stuff. Therea re a ton of limited Wii games that still barely fetch higher than $25 even in an ebay Buy it now. Maybe popular games will rise in price but that's all. I'm already seeing so many scalpers fail with Wii U stuff, it's almost funny. The Wii U games that are actually overtly pricey happen to be garbage you wouldn't actually want to play...
Oh, man that takes me back. Especially it is really cool to see that the GC-GBA link cable was not just something Nintendo tried out, but actually became the basis for the DS family handhelds and the WiiU.
I think what often gets overlooked as a necessary GameCube accessory is the action replay. Generally you don't consider it an accessory because it's software but the action replay allowed you to do so much more in games that you normally wouldn't be able to do. For example you can play around with test levels in Wind Waker and even unlock debug mode in a few games. Perhaps my favorite was being able to play as Master Hand, Crazy Hand and Giga Bowser in Super Smash Brothers Melee.
My favourite gaming memory is playing Resident Evil 4 on my Dads Gamecube before school. For my 30th birthday, he brought me a Gamecube setup with original cables, a HDMI converter, and Resident Evil 4 collectors edition. The Gameboy Player would be gravy but I have to say I'm still happy with my perfect setup ☺
My ultimate GameCube setup... for the 30th anniversary of Legend of Zelda I set up *5* GameCubes with 4 Gameboy Players (thankfully you only need one disc!) to play Four Swords. It was pretty awesome. I used Commodore 1084 monitors for the Gameboy Player systems and a larger monitor with component video input for the system actually running the game. When I set that up again... I'll use a Wii to run the game, and I'll get more Wavebirds. The tangle of cables from the four systems was a nightmare.
Metal Jesus... Toss out that awful GameBoy Player mini disc and try the Game Boy Interface (GBI)... RetroRGB has a good tutorial on this. You wll love the improvement on the picture quality.
How much does it cost and is it hard to install? I run my gameboy player on a crt tv with S-video but my boot up disc is kinda beat up and i been looking for a alternative
I was about to suggest the same thing. The main reason to use a Gamecube is to play Game Boy games, so do it right. www.retrorgb.com/gameboyinterface.html
J Bird you need to get a SD card reader that works for the GC or Wii, then get the GDI software. You will also need something like an Action Replay. Check out RetroRGB on it.
My GC setup includes 2 consoles EACH with the broadband adaptor. I use a crossover adaptor and a patch cable for Mario Kart DD and 1080 Avalanche LAN mode gaming. GBA player is great too for the ultimate Pacman Vs setup as it lets you use the GC with the GBA player in place of a GBA for that - though you do need 2 screens. Would love one of those little Hori pads - expensive though.
I'm glad that the GameCube still holds up spectacularly. It's simply terrific. I personally feel like the best thing out of all of this is the converter. The component cable is beyond expensive so thank the lord for that adapter
Erm, you're missing the point. I think he means that it's possible to use a GameCube connected GameBoy player as an actual GBA Console. Since the GameBoy player is technically a GameBoy advance, the setup he mentioned is possible although a bit inconvenient, not to mention hilarious to see.
Don't forget the weirdest accessory - the Gamecube MICROPHONE! Compatible with Odama, the tactical war / pinball game where you command your troops by voice while you smash the oncoming enemies with your Odama ball by using the flippers! Strange game. A one-of-a-kind Gamecube exclusive experience.
Misleading to say you can’t get the gameboy playing without the Nintendo gameboy player software disc....just get a sd media launcher and use homebrew software which is great as you can force 240p resolution which looks amazing on a crt
aoop aop The homebrew he's talking about is GBI, which is strictly for video quality. This is one of those times where fanmade stuff is leaps and bounds superior than the official product.
Not sure if any comments touched on it yet, but for those on a budget or want a different color or know where to look, Japan got more than just the black Gameboy Player, they had Indigo/Silver/Orange as well. If you can find a seller on eBay, you can find the player and the disc for around $50+ which is much cheaper than the U.S. version. Gameboy's are region free so no need to worry about game regions, but you'll have to either have a region mod in your GameCube to run Japanese games, or have a disc called the Freeloader which allows for Japanese games to be played on the U.S. system. Even having to buy the additional Freeloader is cheaper than buying a U.S. Player and disc, surprisingly, and you get to have your GB Player match the color of your system. Even cheaper would be to buy it directly in Japan since they have units for dirt cheap, but of course you would have to randomly end up on a trip to Japan to even consider this option. The lower price logic to this option also extends to games for systems like SNES, Gameboy's, N64, etc. Games like Super Mario World, Super Mario Land I/II, Kirby 64, Yoshi's Story, etc., are significantly cheaper for the Japanese copies. SNES/N64 just need a slight cartridge slot modification to fit the different style cartridges or you can swap the backs of a U.S. and Japanese cart so the indentations match. Gameboy's need no mods, just simply plug in and enjoy. Systems like GameCube/Wii/Wii U need some sort of disc or homebrew software to get region free ability, and Switch is already region free out of the box.
I have a 12ft extention cable for the GameCube controllers. I got it from a flea market about 10 years ago or so. It works really well and can make almost any game play better if your not using a wireless controller.
Picked up the HDMI adaptor. I'm just waiting on a GameCube..didn't want to kill the one I borrowed from my Brother. Thanks for moving it around in the vid.
😭 . . . Though to be honest, I like it when publishers ignore a franchise for a good long while. Everything is being ruined by the desire for almost constant desire for sequels and remakes across all types of media.
@@olanmills64 Definitely agree with that, but they already seem to have nailed the formula down with their constant stream of Fire Emblems. Be nice to share the love.
Forgot one of those screens that attached and folded in like a laptop screen. Included car charger to play on road trips. Me and my brother had tons of fun on crazy taxy and Pikmin etc while on the go. Also had composite and other in/outputs which made it awesome. Must have for an ultimate setup!
@MetalJesusRocks, how come you have so much cool stuff? Ha! I need to look into that HDMI adapter. I've been holding out for a GameCube Classic but I'm not sure that will be a thing...I'm not even sure an N64 Classic will be a thing and that would need to come first! I'd love to play some Mario Party HD on some of my charity livestreams though so I'll definitely check this out! Thanks for being awesome as always and great informative video! You guys ROCK! :D
Yeah I thought about mentioning I was holding out for VC too but hopefully whenever Nintendo stops screwing around and gets the updated online features going for the Switch, maybe we'll have a few surprises? You're probably right though. :P
Great video! I've been watching a lot of your videos the later years and have actually been wanting to come from Norway to Seattle just to experience the retro gaming community you guys got over there. Just a small note, you dont actually need the disc for the gameboy-player on the GC. You can load a file into your memorycard and boot up the gameboy-player, using several different gamecube-games. Keep up the good work :)
the only thing I would recommend is getting the game boy interface a shot much better than the original gbp from nintendo still needs the same hardware just using superior software.
You actually don’t need the disk. You can get SD media launcher for GameCube and launch homebrew program called game boy interface which is far superior to the official disk because you can play these game boy games in 240p vs 480i/p
i had what i felt at the time was the ultimate Gamecube Setup, which was the Black Console, 1000+ Block Mega Memory Card (still have tucked away safely), Game Boy Player, and 50 games for it, some that came with accessories of their own, like Donkey Konga with the Bongo Drums.
My soft modded Wii U is my ultimate Gamecube setup :D. It serves as a handheld Gamecube too now with the latest updates to Nintendont. I'm so glad that I snagged a Wii U before the prices skyrocketed. Being able to play Rogue Leader and MK Double Dash whilst on the can is fantastic.
That GBA-GameCube adapter cord is actually very necessary for Pokemon fans who want to get certain Pokemon on their GBA main series games from Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness, since the Pokedex data for those certain Pokemon are necessary to complete the National Pokedex.
Awesome video as always, Jason. The GameCube has always been one of my favorite consoles and among the 10+ consoles that I personally own and still have set up it's maybe my most cherished, because I have the better part of this setup. I have a black DOL-001, paired with a black Game Boy Player (and disc of course), connected to the TV (55" 4K UHDTV) via the rare component cables (which go for $330+ now) and matched with a black Hori Digital Gamepad (going for $170+ now) and an old Wavebird Controller. The Hori Pad and component cables going for a combined $500 makes this the most valuable console in my collection. Never would have imagined this back when people made fun of the GameCube.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was awesome to play on the GC with 4 people, using GBA's was done really well. You're inventory, HUD and other functions were on your GBA. Worked really well.
Get a SNES to Gamecube adapter by raphnet. About $30 and SNES controller is great for the GBA player. They used to be available on Amazon, but I think you have to buy direct from them now (ships from Canada).
Hey there. Just wanted you to know you've helped me with my life's quest! :D I got a Classic Controller to Gamecube adapter from them shipped for $31 USD. R.I.P. 8-bit Mike Tyson and world 8-3
The color the GameBoy Player "adds" I believe is actually the Super GameBoy palette, which was an accessory for the SNES and widely supported by GB games. Also, you've completely glossed over all the homebrew opportunities for the GC. Swiss is a fantastic GameCube IPL replacement that has all kinds of features. The GC Loader is a great accessory, replacing your GameCube disk drive with a high-speed SD card slot. You can also get an SD card adapter for the Serial Port 2, which was never used for any consumer accessories.
Great video metal Jesus, just got a quick question though, I already put in an order for Zeldaxpros GC plug n play, I see that the one you linked in this video does what seems like the same thing except instead of $100 it's $50 more, I'm trying to get a similar ultimate GameCube setup. Zeldaxpros model is smaller and cheaper and the new 3.0 mini model doesn't fry your GameCube like his 2.0 did. Should I back out and buy this product instead? If so, what makes it better? Since you included this with your ultimate GameCube setup and not zeldas. I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Is it really worth the extra $50 price tag, thanks again for the great vid.
I don't have ZeldaXpros latest v3.0 HDMI adapter, but I've seen his crash/trip test videos and it looks solid and sturdy. I have no reason to think you wouldn't be just as happy with that at $50 less. However, I do like how the EON is sold through Amazon in case you wanted an easy refund AND it's injected molded with that extra plug for extra sturdiness... Just in case. ;)
Thanks for the reply! I'm gonna stick with ZeldaXpros since it's only $100 and it's half the size and does the same exact thing, I don't see any reason to justify the $50 extra for this one, and plus I might want to get the Panasonic Q that I saw in the video at some point and it looks like EONS won't work with it however ZeldaXpros looks like it will.
MetalJesusRocks so you tell everyone to buy his product, then when your drunk gf knocks it over and fries it, you then tell everyone not to buy it as it will kill the gamecube, then endore a diffrent guy just because he has a single item on sale on amazon?
The Eon actually uses the A/V port in tandem with the digital video port to pull the L/R Audio. For some reason the Digital out doesn't have audio hooked up, so even with component you'd still need the regular A/V cable's audio hooked up.
Let's be fair, the other AV device didn't damage your Gamecube. The person who decided to trip over the console's controller that, in turn, jerked the console forward is what damaged the console.
Kinsey did trip on the cord, but if the HDMI device had been designed properly, that Gamecube would still be working. Why do people keep forgetting this?
+Ding Dong A Gamecube isn't going to stop working and short circuit after falling 2 meters and never hitting the ground.... A GameCube can survive a 15 meter drop on cement. Wii's are even tougher (provided you've no disc inside the system). But you can keep living in troll land if you wish to do so. I'm going to stay in reality.
Ding Dong The console is a brick (Durability-Wise) & the connector literally had no metal shielding (Meaning the lines crossed & the whole system shorted out). You should use your eyes you know.
How generous to donate the Panasonic Q! I think you've convinced me to get mine down from the loft. I also have it's GBA player, I think it cost more than the console. Will definitely check out that HDMI adapter
How many people are gonna forget this? Yes, she did trip over the cord, but if the HDMI adapter had been designed properly, the Gamecube would still be working. It's not Kinsey's fault the HDMI adapter was designed poorly.
Nothing gets my video game geekness more geeked out than shutting that door and hearing the game cube cube roll onto the screen😃 BEST SYSTEM AND I WOULD LOVE MARIO SUNSHINE 2 PLEASE NINTENDO PLEASE!
There was, because I have it on my purple gamecube like it's supposed to be. The gb player hardware is region free, while the disc is region locked, so there is no excuse.
There's a Game Boy Player that's purple but it isn't available outside Japan. There are Black(North America's only retail color), Orange, Silver, Purple, Tales of Symphonia's light green and the Char Gundam Red color based on Char Anzable from Gundam.
1. You don't need the software. Lookup Gameboy Interface (much better than the Gameboy player software anyways). 2. The Panasonic Q can be modded to be region free.
8:03 - Nice bonus that I found out recently about the GBA cable adapter is you can use it to play GBA games on your TV with the GBA player, but using a GBA as a controller. Great for those like me who actually don't like the Gamecube controller that much.
I'd say that the one thing that was missed was the GameCube LAN adapter. You could attach it and the GameBoy Player at the same time. The LAN adapter would allow you to play something like Mario Kart Double Dash against someone else locally.
Very cool set up for sure. Got to experience the Gamecube through a cousin of mine and my favorite accessory was the Gameboy player. I had a GBA and had the re-release of all three Dragon Warriors. Loved being able to play them on a TV again.
For playing games on the Game Boy player, I simply use a PS2 remote through a $9 PS2 -> Gamecube adapter from Amazon. Besides the triggers needing a lot of pressure to register, it works great for me.
One thing to note about the Panasonic Q is that it is possible to mod them to remove the region lock. If you can do that, you're not only able to play both Japanese and American games, but DVDs as well. Granted, that's probably a more interesting feature to European players, but worth remembering nonetheless.
I have a 24 carat gold GameCube. It was given as one of the gifts at an awards ceremony for tier 1 executives in Nihonbashi district Tokyo back in 2002. The tier 1 executives also received a private party evening with a Geisha. That was a different time.
I didn't see anyone mention it, but FreeLoader is a neat piece of software for the GameCube. FreeLoader is a third-party disc that allows you to play any region-locked game on any gamecube. Play all your favorite JP-only GameCube games without hunting down an import console!
8:46 To be fair: They are games alike the GameCube Pac-Man(which exact title I always forget), Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles and The Legend of Zelda: Four Sword Adventures that are ompletely dependent on the CC-GBA-Link-Cable. Yes, you _can _ play them without. But it locks out the Multiplayer and these games are *so* made for multiplayer and it's a nice little idea that each player also has his own screen. In FFCC the players for example have different maps on the area on their screens and in Four Swords you have to cooperate to beat the level, but each one is also a competition who collects most Force Crystals and with underareas alike houses being GBA-Screen exclusive you can go somewhere and get some chests or similar things "in secret".
You should’ve included the Action Replay for GameCube as well. Not only does that thing allow for some amusing cheats, but it can also bypass the system’s region locking, allowing you to play Japanese and European games on an American system without modding it.
I was looking at buying a GameCube about 6 months ago. Decided to get a Wii and a component cable instead, which was a lot cheaper way to play GameCube games. Great video, thanks 👍
I made the BIGGEST mistake back then but thinking the GC was just the "weak system" of that era! I am playing almost EXCLUSIVELY GameCube these days lol! Somehow after all these years became one of my very favorite consoles! (and I shelled out for the Nintendo component cable - totally worth it!)
the gameboy link cable was great for nascar thunder 2003, let you edit the pit settings, see more stats, some minor telemetry and damage on your car without having to use the pause menu. some of those things i listed you cant see without it
This reminded me of that GameCube video we did years ago. I’ve come to appreciate the GameCube as time goes on. I always thought it was generally ignored because it didn’t come equipped with a DVD player.
Radical Reggie says mister PS2 lol
mr bacchus actually his fav console is the PS1 (mine also) 😆.. Mr. PLAYSTATION
It had great 3rd party support too!
I got my slim ps2 test console after seeing your video on it. Still looking for a good hdmi adapter for it, maybe you could make a video about that?
I love my GameCube bought it off of eBay and it's region free so none of that messing around with region unlock discs
I still play my Gamecube to this very day, it's always 2001 over at my house!
awesome man! love the cube! Baiten Kaidos 1 and origins SSBM, Mario Kart DD the MGS remake is amazing even now! the music in that game is wicked! the gamecube is just a good system!
me too but i play gamecube and wii games on my PC ,upscaled to HD ,perfect ,on a 300cm projector
Keep it retro bro!
Your house is the worst! :)

Yo this is sick actually, I would love to get some of this stuff for videos and things.

Many collectors have gazed into the mirror on the Panasonic Q looking for the true meaning of gaming. Others just do lines of Coke off it.
LOL
lmao
I'm gonna try that
gamers can't afford coke.
you're not cool enough to be at a coke party.
😘
Aaron Lol that's a very exclusive club bro. Not many can say they've done that @.@
A fan of yours gave you a Panasonic Q for free? Damn, sir, you are Jesus indeed.
He got a futuristic toaster for *FREE!?!?!*

How can you have the ultimate setup without the bongos! Come on man, I stayed up all night playing with my bongos!
Every night im POUNDING my bongos.
Jungle Beat was amazing

You still need a way to boot Homebrew. I.e. SD Media Launcher or modchip. But, 100% agreed GBI is excellent.

I am surprised nobody is recreating those hori gamepads. Those are pricey.
I had a knockoff years ago made by Pelican. I wish I still had it
Pelican made some pretty solid knock offs back in the day. Do they still exist?
Not that I can tell. If they do, they might not make anything game related
KWKBOX they were all destroyed and put in a landfil xD just keep looking
If you have a gamecube link cable you can just use your gameboy advance as a controller with the gameboy player
I would love to see a series like this. So many great systems out there.
TH-camrs are so lucky, they have great communities, they do what they love for a living and they just get stuff sent to them.

I still use my GameCube for the GameBoy Player & Smash Bros Melee.
I never seen the Hori controller at 6:29 before, I would've definitely got that.

This is missing 4 GBA and the necessary link cables to play Zelda 4 Swords on Gamecube with a full party! I mean, money ain't no objective, right :)
I think you mean 5 TVs, 5 Gamecubes, 4 Gameboy Players, and 4 GBA-to-GCN cables. That's how you play 4 swords, everyone gets their own big screen.

Misleading to say you can’t get the gameboy playing without the Nintendo gameboy player software disc....just get a sd media launcher and use homebrew software which is great as you can force 240p resolution which looks amazing on a crt
collectors aren't fans of homebrew
they want the OG stuff only
aoop aop like his mame cab😂
it's different, you should know that
aoop aop I’m not slating it, use mame myself...defo no og though, pretty sure that hdmi adaptor isn’t either🙈
aoop aop The homebrew he's talking about is GBI, which is strictly for video quality.
Do one of these for the Atari 7800.
Retail Archaeology LoL
5200 instead, and see how much broken controllers he has :D
I have a 12ft extention cable for the GameCube controllers. I got it from a flea market about 10 years ago or so. It works really well and can make almost any game play better if your not using a wireless controller.
Here because I’m quarantined. Thank you Jesus.
Do a video on the ultimate original Xbox setup
Darth Luke and it better include the steel battalion controller
This is a cool format; he should definitely do more!
Picked up the HDMI adaptor. I'm just waiting on a GameCube..didn't want to kill the one I borrowed from my Brother. Thanks for moving it around in the vid.
"Who could forget about Advance Wars?"
Nintendo.
Nintendo forgot about (good) Paper Mario games do I know the feel.
😭

Though to be honest, I like it when publishers ignore a franchise for a good long while. Everything is being ruined by the desire for almost constant desire for sequels and remakes across all types of media.
@@olanmills64 Definitely agree with that, but they already seem to have nailed the formula down with their constant stream of Fire Emblems. Be nice to share the love.
Good news dude! 1 + 2 will get a Switch release
That Bald Gamer I'm sorry but i highly doubt we'll ever see a gamecube classic. Nintendo has never even sold gamecube games on the virtual console
Yeah I thought about mentioning I was holding out for VC too but hopefully whenever Nintendo stops screwing around and gets the updated online features going for the Switch, maybe we'll have a few surprises? You're probably right though. :P
Love all your videos you and with your friends watch them daily 👍😎👍
To many words to many words
Hansbald I’m saying 150 for an HDMI adaptor expensive
Great video! I've been watching a lot of your videos the later years and have actually been wanting to come from Norway to Seattle just to experience the retro gaming community you guys got over there. Just a small note, you dont actually need the disc for the gameboy-player on the GC. You can load a file into your memorycard and boot up the gameboy-player, using several different gamecube-games. Keep up the good work :)
the only thing I would recommend is getting the game boy interface a shot much better than the original gbp from nintendo still needs the same hardware just using superior software.
As a gamecube owner, I cant thank you enough for these quality informational videos
Did you try the GBI boot image for Gameboy Player/Gamecube HDMI with Swiss? I hear a lot of good things about that!
Great video man
That GBA-GameCube adapter cord is actually very necessary for Pokemon fans who want to get certain Pokemon on their GBA main series games from Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness, since the Pokedex data for those certain Pokemon are necessary to complete the National Pokedex.
It's worth noting that the Wavebird controller doesn't support rumble.
Nintendo's first portable Home console. 🤔
yes
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was awesome to play on the GC with 4 people, using GBA's was done really well. You're inventory, HUD and other functions were on your GBA. Worked really well.
"Cannot run the Game Boy Player without this Software"
Action Replay and SD adapter: LIES
I'm guessing Game Boy Interface wasn't out when the video was released. Also, Carby is a great HDMI alternative to GCHD.
@@agntdrake M8 the GBI was out in late 2000's. I'm more guessing lack of knowledge really. But it's still a nice video though.
@@boured919 Oh wow! I didn't know that either. I just started using it, and it's AMAZEBALLS. Seriously enjoying playing Minish Cap right now.
Yup he is so clueless... the original GBP software is God awful especially once you've used GBI
Great video. The Gamecube was the first HD console when used with its component cable(only some US games supported 480P).
I really want that GBP Hori Controller, but it's way too expensive
Is there really much difference between all these HDMI mods besides just design?
Christopher Alday pretty much just design. Video quality is exactly the same. I have a ZXP 3.0 it's only $100 and does a fantastic job.
No the original design was flawed. Go back and read the comments. The creator of it admitted as much
Kinsey did trip on the cord, but if the HDMI device had been designed properly, that Gamecube would still be working.
Dude it was the girl that broke your GameCube
Frisbee yep and he cant admit it
Not really, but you bitches should get over it anyway.
8:50 thank you for mentioning the Panasonic Q! It also had a specially designed Panasonic Q Gameboy Player you could get as well!
I don't understand why you're still blaming the product for that GameCube being broken clearly it was the female's fault for tripping over the cord.
Go back and read the comments from the original creator. He ADMITS it was bad design and it's the reason why he's revised it TWICE since then.
MetalJesusRocks but you cant admit that your gf was a bit at fault? Its 100% all the products fault?
How many people are gonna forget this? Yes, she did trip over the cord, but if the HDMI adapter had been designed properly, the Gamecube would still be working. It's not Kinsey's fault the HDMI adapter was designed poorly.
MetalJesusRocks I agree with you, the guy that created that other HDMI adapter for the GameCube did not know it had faulty connection pins.
Nothing gets my video game geekness more geeked out than shutting that door and hearing the game cube cube roll onto the screen😃 BEST SYSTEM AND I WOULD LOVE MARIO SUNSHINE 2 PLEASE NINTENDO PLEASE!
A black gb player on a purple gamecube? Shameful!
Kristian Jensen Lol. I don't think there was a purple GB player made, but I'm sure someone somewhere found a way to paint one.
There was, because I have it on my purple gamecube like it's supposed to be. The gb player hardware is region free, while the disc is region locked, so there is no excuse.
Did they even make a purple gameboy player? I got a black on indigo combo and there aint no shame in my game
Every other color was only available in japan, and eBay wasn’t big enough for imports to be a thing then.
There's a Game Boy Player that's purple but it isn't available outside Japan. There are Black(North America's only retail color), Orange, Silver, Purple, Tales of Symphonia's light green and the Char Gundam Red color based on Char Anzable from Gundam.
6:00 correction, while it is true that the gameboy only had a gray-scale screen, games still have very basic colors built in for future use
1. You don't need the software. Lookup Gameboy Interface (much better than the Gameboy player software anyways).
2. The Panasonic Q can be modded to be region free.
the panasonic q that he has actually is one of the region-free ones modded by liksang - i think maybe he just doesn't realize it
I would like to mention that the Gameboy to Gamecube link cable is like the only way to get a legitimate Jirachi on the Pokemon games.
Best console of all time! I play gamecube all the time to this day. I remember back in 2001 when I got it. Man those were the good days of gaming.
The LAN adapter would allow you to play something like Mario Kart Double Dash against someone else locally.
ah yes, the gamecube broadband adapter. How about we add the Gamecube Keyboard for PSO?
Very cool set up for sure. Got to experience the Gamecube through a cousin of mine and my favorite accessory was the Gameboy player. I had a GBA and had the re-release of all three Dragon Warriors. Loved being able to play them on a TV again.
For playing games on the Game Boy player, I simply use a PS2 remote through a $9 PS2 -> Gamecube adapter from Amazon. Besides the triggers needing a lot of pressure to register, it works great for me.
The HDMI adapter would also be using the AV output for the audio, since the digital out is purely for video only.
Camerons the man, what a crazy gift
When it comes to retro games, you are my go to
One thing to note about the Panasonic Q is that it is possible to mod them to remove the region lock. If you can do that, you're not only able to play both Japanese and American games, but DVDs as well. Granted, that's probably a more interesting feature to European players, but worth remembering nonetheless.
One thing you're missing there is the Donkey Konga bongos and Donkey Kong Jungle beat, that's a really good laugh (if a bit knackering;)
Frankly, I would love to see this as a series. A breakdown of the best setup for each console
So awesome! Using GameCube to its highest potential!
This is awesome, you should start this as a series for differnt consoles
You should’ve included the Action Replay for GameCube as well. Not only does that thing allow for some amusing cheats, but it can also bypass the system’s region locking, allowing you to play Japanese and European games on an American system without modding it.
God thing we got the GC Loader and SD2SP nowadays so now the GameBoy Player disc can be easily worked around
I was looking at buying a GameCube about 6 months ago. Decided to get a Wii and a component cable instead, which was a lot cheaper way to play GameCube games. Great video, thanks 👍
Wow! Seems like a nice setup! I'm no GameCube collector but I'd *LOVE* to see a PlayStation 2 version of this video!
Nice video bringing New Life to Old consoles
the gameboy link cable was great for nascar thunder 2003, let you edit the pit settings, see more stats, some minor telemetry and damage on your car without having to use the pause menu. some of those things i listed you cant see without it
