Don't worry too much about the quality of your videos, this style is such a breath of fresh air, no jump cuts every 10 seconds, zoom ins, sound a visual effects. I can just turn off my brain and listen to you ramble for 10min. It's refreshing
I'm skeptical of some things but not other things. Curious where the channel goes but also starting to lose interest. At the same time the random mundane talk is kind of comforting as a background noise while I'm working on something.
I needed a video like this right now ! I "overdosed" on politics and documentaries, and enjoyed a few minutes of pleasantly narrated "just mundane everydayness" 😊
I shouldn't worry about the quality of your videos Erika - it's the content that counts, and you're nailing that! Your videos are varied on different topics/activities, they're very engaging and easy to watch. That you've just got back from the surfing session (loved seeing the rapid progress you made there with standing up too!), it's late and you're tired (and hungry) is testament to you. As for 'healthy' food ... anything that stops you starving (and tastes good too!), is healthy in my book. Looking forward to your next mini-adventure and have a great weekend!
Love how you keep your videos real and don't obsess about editing things into perfection like other youtubers do. Life is full of successes mixed in with imperfections so we can all relate to you and your journey.
A fast dinner at the end of the day - I'd say your experiment worked well. Keep the videos coming & please don't follow any menus too closely - consider them to be "suggestions" only. Thnx for the entertainment!
Thank you for sharing. You express my feelings about our transitional state precisely. We all need a little more faith in the process and courage to make way.
As chaotic as they may be, I really enjoy your videos. Part of what I like the most is the fact that you’re so surprised when you do a cooking episode and the food comes out totally good. And let me restate, I really do enjoy your videos. And if you ever decide to monetize, I will be more than happy to help support. On a sidenote, my brothers partner works at Trader Joe’s and I showed him the video of the ice cream trials. I don’t think he showed it to his Partner as she is a manager at Trader Joe’s. He did check the freezer and the ones that you really did not like we’re not in his freezer so she most likely knew he wouldn’t like him either. Take care and be yourself. It’s wonderful.
A good idea for series, in my opinion, would be improving on dishes you make that you were not satisfied with the first time around. I love your range and lack of fear to try different things (perfect burger btw), and your leaps of faith are very inspirational. Keep making the videos the way you are: real time and imperfect, this is a part of your charm. But then consider revisits, people love to watch progress and growth.
It's hard finding anything that hasn't been done to death on youtube, cooking camping nomad life bfishing hunting etc. Except what you're doing being yourself. It's original. I am subbing.
A couple of tips: 1) Don't turn the heat past "7" with an induction pan unless you're boiling water. 2) You want to sear the outside of any meat regardless of how you're actually cooking it. That means high temperature first and lower temperature later. 3) It is recommended you not press hamburger because it will cause the meat to be bone dry and burn on the outside before it cooks on the inside. 4) Sear the outside of the hamburger on high heat (7) and then lower the heat to "5", cover the pan, and then flip the hamburger(s) only once, about eight minutes into cooking. 5) Cook the hamburgers for about 13 minutes for medium, about 15 minutes for medium well, about 17 minutes for well done. 6) Or do what you just did and have yourself a McDonalds burger at home! 😁
I've cooked literally thousands of burgers at home. Since you asked about what other people would do - I'd go with a grill. I always cook burgers outside and on a gas grill. For starters, the oil drips away. This makes for a leaner and healthier meal. You can get an inexpensive gas grill from Lowes or Home Depot or off Amazon. Still, you seem to have done an excellent job with what you made. Never stop trying Erika.
4:00 haha giant meatballs. just a tip: unless you want the pan super hot-it's best to cook it at lower/medium temperature, especially when it comes to ground meat-so that the center gets cooked. when your pan is smoking it is probably too hot haha. good effort and bravery to share!
My appetite after surfing is stupid🤣 For burgers, the best fat percentage is 20%. I love finding economical, yet delicious meals to put together. After surfing and hot yoga fruit is the best and lots of hydration. Thanks for sharing!
For a cooking series maybe read thru a cookbook and list recipes that you like. Then sort by ingredients so you can do them off fewer shopping trips. And you'll have a goal of finishing your list so you can feel good about your progress.
Love your videos.. the spontaneity, cheerfulness and sincerity is wonderful to watch. I’ve watched your videos multiple times, don’t change how you’re doing things… any topic you do will be fun.Hope you’re monetized soon!
I like how you made videos on the fly. It seems to work well for you and it's enjoyable to watch as you're truly authentic. I'm having more difficulties than you when it comes to talking unscripted. Keep up the good work!
Hi, Erika! As usual, I enjoyed your video. You're SOOOOO adorable and funny! I think you could post videos about anything and they would be super entertaining because of your presence. Thanks for making my day with your smile, your sympathy and your laughter. A big hug and positive thoughts from Italy. Stay safe and take care.
Hey Erika! I love how you were sooo specific as to say 9:17pm!😂 Since I did a burger for breakfast this morning (with homegrown lettuce), I give you full respect!!! I would add a lid over the pan to heat up the patties without losing the moisture? But your journey is going very well! Luv!💕
I hope you see this comment. I finally realize why you're building an audience so quickly. We live in a world that is often lonely and disconnected. You are so genuine and relatable that people connect with you so easily. It almost feels like we're your friends, just hanging out, making burgers, and chatting about anything. You're making the world a less lonely place, just by being the light that you are.
Get a skillet with a glass cover. Cook one side of the burger. Flip, put cheese on the other side. Cover. The other side is done by the time that slice is all melted into the burger
Dinner at 9PM? I eat dinner at 4PM go back to work at 4:45 come home get everything finished here then get up at 4AM and do it again work from 6 AM to 11 AM come home then do work here (tearing down a camper at the moment) come inside when it gets too hot to cool off because they friggin humidity here is about 90% and you have NO IDEA how hot that is! I know I was born in CA and lived there til I was 9 yrs old. Out here in East Texas ITS HOT! Pouring sweat. So after this video here Im going back out there to do it some more Im about 60% done tearing it down and no where near done burning the wood, stripping the aluminum, and bagging up the trash my brother left in that thing. Beer bottles and wine boxes to the ceiling with just a walkway through it to the place he sat on his ass and ashes and cigarette butts there.
I would not underestimate the power of side dishes. I would combine a burger always with (steakhouse) fries and a big glass of Coca Cola with ice qubes ;) The next video is chili con carne with a mojito cocktail 🍸 ;)
I found a seasoning that duplicates my favorite childhood burger joint. I was so stoked when I discovered it. GL Should flip them early tan late. Can never flip too early. Lol
Mix 1 egg, 1/2 lb ground meat, 1 small onion, 1/4' thick slice cheese, salt, pepper. Fry up mushrooms and 1 small onion for 30 minutes. Put the burger mix in with the sauteed mushrooms and onions for 20 minutes Add spaghetti sauce for another 10 minutes. Stewed burgers. Now you made me hungry.
The only way to improve skills is to utilize them. Keep at it. I suggest not putting the cheese on in the pan though. Unless, of course, you like scrubbing burnt cheese off of pans then go right ahead.
You can use parchment paper and something heavy, like a bowl or pot to squish them. The cold meat won't stick to the paper, so it wont make a mess out of them and using a plastic spatula to squish them never works right. Smaller balls of meat will cook the center faster as well
This reminds me of when I cooked in my old place which was an Apartment! I'm kind of the opposite: I love 🐴🐴 🐴! Cooking 😁🔪 Baking? Know next to nothing about it! You can get those Iron Anvils to smash down Burgers and 🥩 steaks! I used to do a Holiday/Christmas party where I cooked like a Turkey 🦃 and all the trimmings! Usually for about 8 or 10 guests Yeah Do more cooking Not like Bobby Flay These are refreshing! Glad you posted this 🤠! This is every person! There are lots of us who do this! Health Journey thing would be cool 😎! Compare Trader's with other Health Food stores! I love that you're real! Probably others who have been scared to cook will watch this and say: Hey I can do this too!
Don't worry about the "quality" of your videos, they are fine and the unpolished nature of your videos are part of the appeal... Keep up with the attempts and we will keep watching... Best of luck to you!!! 😊
That's funny I was really craving a burger and its 6:30 in the morning and hopped on TH-cam while my burger is cooking in this video popped up on my TH-cam feed😊
Keep Chipolte ingredients in your freezer in tiny tupperware to re heat in a pinch. Cook chicken w/ paprika and then rice on day 1 and then portion freeze the rest (Guac, Black beans, corn) (Fridge: Salsa, sour cream, tortillas). Now you have a fairly healthy meal ready to go after surfing on the cheap.
Have you ever thought about becoming a chef? You seem to have a natural talent for cooking and looks like you enjoy it. That also give you two paths to take. You could start you own small business or work at higher end restaurant. A starting chef makes around 37,000$ a year and experienced chefs make up to 70,000$ a year. And I really enjoy the videos. I hope to see you grow and find the path you're looking for.
I just wanted to say, I liked your video before watching, after reading the title. And I thought that I appreciate your videos, because you seem to share your thoughts while experiencing things. And that seems nice. Now I will watch while eating some stuff and drinking something too... thank you for keeping me company.
You are always so down on yourself. This is literally what everyone does. They go out and either work hard or play hard all day then come home exhausted, get cleaned up then scramble to cook dinner. Cooking for yourself is a good thing too because most restaurants use the cheapest ingredients they can. They are not out to serve you the best food, they are out to make money. Cooking at home you get the best ingredients you can afford and you know what you are putting into your body plus you get more and it costs way less, unlike a restaurant with month old ingredients in a fist sized serving for $40. The less seed oils the better. As someone who is a burger aficionado you made a really good smash burger with the tools you had available (get a cast iron smasher if you really want to make em right). You dont have to eat that plastic cheese you can get bricks of your favorite cheese at the grocery store and get a hand held cheese slicer to make your own thin slices. Lay it on the burger then cover with a lid and the cheese will melt within 30 seconds. lol for someone who "can't cook" you are doing a great job. Maybe you can invite us over and cook for us although that would probably be super stressful so maybe not. You crap on yourself alot about your video quality but it feels like I am there talking with you. That is the style that is coming across to me. From reading the other comments that seems to be what they are seeing too.
A few tips: You don’t want to heat a dry teflon non stick pan (more likely to leech chemicals, less healthy). Best to avoid teflon non-stick altogether, use stainless steel, or find ceramic nonstick (e.g. Always Pan from Our Place). Regarding stainless steel pans: to not let your food stick need to get it hot first, test this by throwing in a water drop to see if it immediately “rolls” or boils into vapor which tells you it is hot enough, then add your oil, then food. Stainless steel does better job browning or making a crust than nonstick. Keep up the good work, the relaxed winging it style is quite nice compared to the normal “overproduction” style that most videos are these days.
Congratulations on succeeding on your first hamburger patty cooking attempt. Ps. I was pretty sure you were tall from your previous videos but with this video I can really see it. Tall girls rock! 🤘You have an awesome personality. Just keep being you & you will go far.
Erika, don't worry about what people think! You are so beautiful and truthful and real! Keep up the good work! I love watching your videos! You are so amazing and funny! I have been with you since day one and love watching everything that you post! Never put yourself down!! Please!!! You must be positive! So wonderful and a very fun person to watch, every time! You are trying your best, and I give you much credit for this! Every day, I come on line, in hopes to see another video that you posted!!! You are the best and keep up the great work! Like I said, you are doing your best in trying to make people like you! Yes, I like you, and wait every day to see what you posted! Keep doing what you are doing and be yourself! I give you much credit for what you have accomplished! Keep up the great work and I will see you or talk to you soon!!! Love, forever!!! Hugs and kisses!!!
I buy ground bison on sale at Whole Foods and fry it up on a skillet, put it in Romain lettuce leaves and drizzle it with Annie’s Asian dressing …it’s like instant Asian lettuce wraps that are more healthy
A friend of mine parents owned a bar/restaurant and we would sometimes stop in after-hours. He would eat the patties raw out of the fridge but I volunteered to cook them on the grill.
I was spontaneous myself making dinner last night. I'm a vegetarian so I made Okonomyaki, a kind of large savoury pancake, from chopped cabbage, flour, an egg , and cooked chickpeas. Fry till crisp both sides. It was delicious.
I'm still learning how to be a chef😮🎉 my wife cooked everything! So in the past two years I've learned how to cook for myself😮 the one thing you need to do is take the time when you're prepping it's the most important
I want to vote for more random things this one is great, Erika! PS I think all my cooking is a random thing. I do have my mom's recipe for green meat that I could share :)
A burger with pepper and garlic, sounds good I would add an egg and scant amt of bread crumbs mix small chopped onion with grd beef. To each his/her own. Just keep doing what you're doing🙂 don't doubt yourself and experiment You're gonna be fine!
I take it out of the freezer. Defrost in the microwave. Put it between two slices of bread cheese tomato. Into the oven at 170 C, 330 F. A salad and it's ready.
Keep doing them. Whatever they are. If it helps you, then that's all that matters. We're just sitting here enjoying watching whatever you do as we feel like we're going on the same journey. You're trying new things, and doing random things. It's all good.
I think you did fine. As with everything in life, it just takes a little practice and trial-and-error. I pan fry the occasional cheeseburger, but always use a lid. There's just too much grease getting expelled all over the kitchen. Colby Jack cheese and a little BBQ sauce does the trick. Keep cooking!
Don't worry too much about the quality of your videos, this style is such a breath of fresh air, no jump cuts every 10 seconds, zoom ins, sound a visual effects. I can just turn off my brain and listen to you ramble for 10min. It's refreshing
You summed it up ..Perfectly! 👍
Proof that some women have the gift of gab: they can talk to a wall.
this video is pure honesty, very rare in youtube nowdays, you are doing great just by being yourself, dont change and stay a scatter brain :)
I'm skeptical... I think this is an act.
I'm skeptical of some things but not other things. Curious where the channel goes but also starting to lose interest. At the same time the random mundane talk is kind of comforting as a background noise while I'm working on something.
“idk folks” is the best YT video description I have seen. It’s okay to have doubts, but don’t let that stop you from posting.
It's like a girlfriend simulation.
I needed a video like this right now !
I "overdosed" on politics and documentaries, and enjoyed a few minutes of pleasantly narrated "just mundane everydayness" 😊

Looking forward to your next mini-adventure and have a great weekend!
I prefer this type of TH-cam video. Just real people. 🍻👍
Nice and very entertaining video. Thanks for bringing us along. Keep doing what you do.
I love the adventures with Erika. The burger was perfect and the surfing was great!
Love how you keep your videos real and don't obsess about editing things into perfection like other youtubers do. Life is full of successes mixed in with imperfections so we can all relate to you and your journey.
True. That’s why we love Erika’s videos. Real and raw.
This channel has been an absolute godsent for me recently
Ya, well.."i" hear ya..but do you hear from an ear that hears everything from nothing. [emptiness is full]
Erika with 13.5k all ready...sheeeyahh!! Hope your pleased with the quick success of your channel.
❤ from my building I can walk to where Miles Davis played❤
I'm still searching for the giant media corporation that's behind this channel.

If you want a smashburger, smashing is pretty much unavoidable.

Don't forget the ketchup because it goes with everything. :)
I like to wait until I see the blood drops on the upper side before I flip the patty.
Stranger, it makes sense. Surfing is muscles demanding and eating meat is just right.
Best of your videos ever! So real. Got hungry for a burger just watching and it's only 10:30 AM local time.
"Will it ever be posted? Probably not" ... and here we are :D
Luv!💕
Never a dull moment! You're always entertaining! Making burgers is a lot easier than what you've baked previously

The T-Fal, yes! Maybe use a little butter in pan next time? Onion powder, salt, pepper! Looks good!!
Try lipton onion soup mix and an egg squished together by hand and an ice cube on top on the patty after the first flip
❤ white cabinets with industrial-looking handles stainless steel appliances
Thanks for putting a bit of normalcy out there. Much needed in this crazy world
We just want to see you be happy and Grow as a person. Love your work.
Shes a modern waaaahman. She will never be happy until she has 6ft+ chad

❤ great show though don't worry about it that's what people love is the rawness of everything❤
Put the burger mix in with the sauteed mushrooms and onions for 20 minutes
Add spaghetti sauce for another 10 minutes.
Stewed burgers.
Now you made me hungry.
You're so awesome! Love the raw unedited footage you provide. Just continue to be you!
I paint oliver oil on the burger, top and bottom. Adds taste and gives a nice color to the burger. Great job.
So that's what a "Nothing Burger" is. 😂
The only way to improve skills is to utilize them. Keep at it.
I suggest not putting the cheese on in the pan though. Unless, of course, you like scrubbing burnt cheese off of pans then go right ahead.
Your on a life-long journey. Cook, eat, travel, garden, surf, swm and e joy!! And ta,e us along for the ride.
Yes, smash it down as thin as possible, it'll taste better that way. Make it nice and crispy. lol
This is the best video I've ever seen
Grease going to go all over the place you need a spatter guard
You can use parchment paper and something heavy, like a bowl or pot to squish them. The cold meat won't stick to the paper, so it wont make a mess out of them and using a plastic spatula to squish them never works right. Smaller balls of meat will cook the center faster as well
It sure is nice to see how fast your channel has grown. I think only a week or two ago you had less than 1K subs. Great job!
Stir fries are easy, quick and healthy. To be able to slice the meat thinly put it in the freezer and allow it to partially freeze before cutting,
Watching this while eating at 9:17 at night 😆
You’re on your way to becoming a good cook
I love your absolutely nothing approach. More surfing 🏄🏻♀️ videos please- Beautiful Erika

Use a lid on the pan to help the inside cook evenly with the outside

You said you are afraid of starting a fire. Do you have a fire extinguisher? Is it stored away from where the fire might break-out?
A homemade hamburger is, in my opinion, the perfect meal! Especially with bread and butter pickles.
Love this kind of videos, Erika!
That's funny I was really craving a burger and its 6:30 in the morning and hopped on TH-cam while my burger is cooking in this video popped up on my TH-cam feed😊

Hamburgers can be made with quality real cheese.
Finally, after all these years, I finally found someone who doesn't know what to do with her life! Cheers from Montreal, Canada.
I live in Alton Illinois next to the Mississippi River❤ the place of the blues and jazz
your pan needs to be screaming hot.
Congratulations on succeeding on your first hamburger patty cooking attempt.

Surfer girl! Yay!
Just remember, there’s no wrong time to cook eggs.

The building I live in is actually the tallest building in the sector of East Alton
I want to vote for more random things this one is great, Erika! PS I think all my cooking is a random thing. I do have my mom's recipe for green meat that I could share :)
I fry the buns a little, too.
A burger with pepper and garlic, sounds good I would add an egg and scant amt of bread crumbs mix small chopped onion with grd beef. To each his/her own. Just keep doing what you're doing🙂 don't doubt yourself and experiment
You're gonna be fine!
I take it out of the freezer. Defrost in the microwave. Put it between two slices of bread cheese tomato. Into the oven at 170 C, 330 F. A salad and it's ready.
❤ I Think I Love Led Zeppelin because I'm a drummer
Keep doing them. Whatever they are. If it helps you, then that's all that matters. We're just sitting here enjoying watching whatever you do as we feel like we're going on the same journey. You're trying new things, and doing random things. It's all good.
I think you did fine. As with everything in life, it just takes a little practice and trial-and-error. I pan fry the occasional cheeseburger, but always use a lid. There's just too much grease getting expelled all over the kitchen. Colby Jack cheese and a little BBQ sauce does the trick. Keep cooking!
