Hi Michael! Had to put you on pause for a minute and check out Rich Mountain Fiber Co. when I saw that orange. Ooh la la! I'm not partial to either base - I use fingering and DK both with abandon 😉 Thank you for sharing!
Nice to see you getting your groove back! The orange yarn looks very nice. I use both fingering and DK so whatever. With all the projects I have backed up I hope I never get knitters elbow! Take care and looking forward to see what that "tufting" is all about!!! ❤️🧶❤️
Your spinning is gorgeous! I also recently switched to Italian sewn bind-off for my socks (also TAAT toe-up) after working it on a vest. That orange fingering weight yarn would make a beautiful pair of socks. Thank you for another great video. Be well.
Did you know you said “Saltwater Mittney” book? I went searching for it on Amazon bc…well, I had to have it. You know how it is. Couldn’t find it. Went back to that part of the video to rewatch and catch the name again. 😂😂😂 it’s Saltwater Mittens 😂😂😂. That “s” does look like a “y” though, so I can’t blame you. Anyhoo…thought you might get a good laugh from it. I ordered the book. Can’t wait to knit my first pair of mittens. I loved those beautiful skeins of yarn. Orange 🍊 and green💚 are two of my favorite colors. Yellow💛 is my other favorite color. fingering or DK weight would be great for a fisherman’s beanie. Fingers crossed 🤞🏾. lol Love your videos. Hope your elbow heals real soon.❤
Whoo whoo! I can just see myself bopping along in a Musselburgh hat made with that orange fingering weight yarn. I could fall down in a pile of snow and still be found 🤣🤣
Good to hear your elbow is improving. Orange you glad to get back to knitting some DK -lol! I just finished an Emotional Support chicken- so much fun to make and I generally detest making toys. Socks and a little Dakota Dragon toy- I know- another toy- also fun for the year of the dragon for a new little great great niece/ nephew arriving in May! Can I get more hours in the day to knit please?
So happy you are able to spin while you heal. Just got 2 braids in the mail and itching to break out my e-wheel. I could do the Forest Gump thing here…orange whip, orange sherbet, orange juice, orange starburst, orange you glad I didn’t say banana, etc. Love both DK and fingering.
The orange dk yarn is stunning. Your spinning is so beautiful! And will make an amazing Travelers shawl. I cannot wait to see your progress in that. I hope your elbow feels better. I’m dealing with the same thing. My chiropractor said to google “how to floss a cervical nerve root” and “stretch TOS”. Do this a few times a day and you should start to feel better. Hope this helps. Happy knitting and crafting 💚🧶💚
Wow, my heart needed this episode. Your vibe was both calming and the sprinkles of movie references made me smile. Our sweet girl went over the rainbow bridge yesterday, and I have not been able to have a much needed moment of peace and distraction until now. Thank you for this blessing and please give Kendrick some extra snuggles for me. My girl loved to watch you too, she was always by my side when I was knitting. 🧡💜🐶 I hope you create some lovely projects with your bouquet of handspun and I’m looking forward to seeing your spin and then make of the traveler shawl. Big hugs!! 🧡💜🤗
Michael! Your podcasts bring me so much joy while I work from home! The projects are always so inspiring and that orange fingering weight yarn is amazing!
Wonderful episode, Michael. Gotta tell you, your spinning is so beautiful. I totally get seeing the difference in handspun after a couple of years of spinning. The combo spin you are planning will be awesome. It sounds like your knitter’s elbow is getting better - yay! So generous of you to gift the lovely yarn - good luck to everyone in the running for that!
I’ve been thinking about going with autumnal colors for the 2024 Westknits MKAL. That orange fingering weight yarn would seal the deal! 🧶😊 I’m glad you’re taking care of your elbow and finding other things to do while you heal. Honestly, your voice is so soothing that I would watch you even if you were simply reading from the phone book. 😅 ~Brenda
I'm not much of a spinning gal, but seeing you use up your wool stash with the intention of making things with it, scratches a bit of an itch for me. Glad you're enjoying it.
Micheal your spinning looks amazing!! So sorry about your elbow but glad to hear your improving. That orange fingering is gorgeous!! Love to see how it Knits up.
Michael, I’m glad you’re slowly getting back into the knitting. Over using our muscles etc can be so disheartening. Your hand spun yarns are amazing! I hope you find the perfect patterns for them. As for the yarns from Rich Mountain Fiber Co., can I just say wow! The green is my favorite but those oranges are 🔥🔥🔥. Fingering or dk, doesn’t matter. Whatever is made from them will be amazing. Until next time!
I love the orange fingering weight yarn! Your spinning is gorgeous and I look forward to seeing it knit up. Hope your arm feels better soon so you can comfortably enjoy knitting again❤️
Hi, there 🤗 glad that your elbow feels better because we all miss your crazy fun dance opening of podcast episodes 😂 Love the orange fingeringsyarn, it could become a gorgeous crowd stopping pair of socks 🧡
❤the orange yarn is so flattering to your skin tone and I especially have been on a fingering kick lately! I would love to do a virtual hang some Sunday:) Digging the spinning!
I love knitting socks and the orange fingering yarn would make a fabulous pair. Just a thanks to you for being a inspirational channel I can enjoy. You have inspired me to expand what I do and believe I can do it. You rock!
I'm not a knitter, I'm a crocheter. I love watching your channel to see what you're doing. I also have tennis elbow but not from crocheting, it came from a 20 year job as a hairdresser. The crocheting makes my thumbs sore but I have arthritis in my thumbs so there I am
Michael, the been spinning quite a bit too. Some orange fingering could first it into my yarn collection quite nicely. Such beautiful yarn. I love the braids you chose for the Travelers Shawl. I am thinking of doing it as well. Have to go through my collection to see if I have enough braids for it. Lovely spending my Sunday afternoon with you.
Oh my Michael, friend you are killing the spinning!! I love the vibe. Can't wait for you to knit them up!! Orange is the new neutral!!! Because everybody needs a hint of color in their socks!! Fingerling all the way! Love watching your podcasts. It puts me in the Zen space!
Hi Michael. I hope your elbow heals quickly. So sorry you are hurting. Your socks and spinning are beautiful. I love the Orange fingering yarn. It would be a nice hat . ❤
So good to see you! I would love to knit a pair of orange fingering socks. I'm sorry you are still dealing with the injury, but I love seeing everything you work on, including spinning. The blanket is coming along, and you know I always love seeing your socks.
Love the idea of hanging out (hopefully one of your Sunday afternoons, my evening) knitting and chatting on zoom Michael. All your spun yarn is so beautiful, looking forward to seeing what you create with it.
Happy Saturday Michael! I hope you're having a good weekend. Thank you for another lovely episode😊 I love that your episodes air alternately with Kevin and Ray of NATR! It means every Saturday has something fabulous to watch😉 Your advent spins are so beautiful and they make me want to take up spinning! I hope your elbow feels 100% better very soon. Enjoy your weekend! 😊💕
Orange you a clever guy. I so enjoy the time I spend watching/listening to you. This time I’ve been spinning for the yarn for a sweater. DK is my go to right now.
So glad your elbow is getting better. The spinning is next level. Can't wait to see what you create with them. Love the orange wool. Dk would be lovely! Have a great week.
OMG Michael, I had a LOL belly laugh when you said “buy all the toilet paper, eggs, milk…for the French toast party….” I have a Lendrum as well and was sad to hear that they were no longer in production. I have a Woolee Winder for my Lendrum and it has really helped with consistency--worth every penny, but they are pricey. When I bought my first WW for my Louet wheel and used it there was no going back….there is no end to the fiber toys that we can acquire. Thanks for your wonderful podcast! I’m at Counting Sheep podcast in case you’re interested in what I do: crochet, knitting, spinning, farm life in Vermont.
My favorite color is orange. I love the contrast of your sweater. Spinning is my current crush. You are so kind to share so much fiber goodness with us.
Thanks for the music recommendation. I had never heard of Baby Huey before and truly enjoyed listening to his music. The orange DK would make a great addition to my stash. 😁
Michael, thank you so much for sharing your knitting journey's with us all. Hope your elbow is on the mend. I love the orange fingering weight yarn you showed us, so beautiful.
Hi Michael! I was so excited to see you talk about Newfoundland! We have such a strong knitting tradition here and these books are definitely showcasing our traditional patterns around the world. So cool! Anyway, the hunting mittens (commonly called Trigger Mitts here) are great for everything-not just hunting/fishing! They are so warm and you still have some dexterity with that separate finger. :)
I can see why you love spinning - those yarns you made are magical. Love. The Orange hand dyed is beautiful. Amazing in both but the fingering felt like it showed the color best. That sweater is absolutely wonderful and sets off your beard beautifully.
Traveler shawl looks highly adaptable, so you can make it with that beautiful turquoise and pink and just knit until you run out of yarn. Good luck with the elbow. Carson Demers' book may have some ideas and exercises which will help forestall the problem in the future.
The Neville Brothers, Yellow Moon; Roberta Flack, First Take; Cat Stevens, Tea For The Tillerman, but that's just the mood I'm in today. Only 3 albums, hahahahaha. Beautiful spinning btw:)
Hi, Michael, enjoyed today's episode. Hoping your elbow clears up soon. I'm definitely an orange aficionado and DK weight would be awesome. Thanks for sharing this new fiber source with us

Happy your elbow is less cranky! Another fun episode, thank you! I have fallen hard down the sock rabbit hole, so either orange skein would be great for me please!
