Imove 14 months ago from 17 year retirement homestead because of hubby's health. I packed about 50 medium size boxes I sold a few things and loeft many things the people who bought our home were using it for 2 years as a summer home hubby was retiring in 3 years. Lucky my childern move us were back living near our kids and we ended up with a brand new apartment condo sytle no step or stairs and it 1300 square feet a good size. I never lived in a apartement but I am home and content God's had plan for us before we go to be with him.
Oh my goodness! I feel your pain regarding the move. My husband and I moved 8 years ago to be near our children and grandchildren. I was 71 and he 72. You will have no trouble figuring out our age now. We had lived in our home 43 years. Talk about work! I bet there is still a box or two left that have not been opened! All I can say is “bless your heart.” I pray it will all come together for you and you will find the perfect house in the place of your choice. Good luck and God bless you two.
Supper looked delicious! Definitely use only small and medium boxes if you can get away with it. My husband and I moved in January 2022 from our old house to our new one, he was sick with CVD-19 a few weeks before moving day, things were a mess (and we're both early 50's). I read last week that the average American household has 330,000 items in it, which is mind-blowing and has inspired me to start looking through everything again to declutter. Good luck to you both, I'll be praying that everything goes smoothly without much stress.
We have lived in our house since October of 1974. I don't plan to leave until the Good Lord calls me home. The very thought of packing up all the stuff we have accumulated over the years gives me the heebie jeebies.
Moving is not all that pleasant if an experience. We have moved too many times, job related. When we were young it was fun but now, not so much. I hate movers!!! No matter what they tell you, they either destroy or lose your things and it is difficult for someone like myself because we always have taken great care of our things. We have moved 15 times in our 49 years of marriage. We just recently moved back to FL and it’s been the hardest move. We are mentally and physically exhausted. Being 70 really changes things. Our plans for our move had to be changed because of the prices. We finally went with a new build again because we are getting too old to start renovating a resale house. We used only medium and small boxes, unless there was something that would not fit but wasn’t heavy. You have lots more boxes but they are easier to handle. Good luck to you. We sold our house in November snd it took us until February to put a contract on a new build. We lived with family, friends and rentals since then. It’s been a hard 7 months but we finally closed last week. Good luck to you and I hope your new chapter in life is a wonderful one. ❤
Yes,! We moved in our 60s. Oh my…. It’s so hard. We went from a 3500 sq ft house to a 1500 sq ft condo 3 yrs ago. It’s quite a different lifestyle but we like it. Praying that the lord will guide you to where you need to be. Love watching you!
I just think your a sweetheart! Came across your videos and i find you very down to earth which to me is very refreshing. Im turning 70 this year and we sold our big house last March and downsized big time. It's the best thing we did before we get older. Gave everything in house away to whoever needed or wanted it. Just took couple of things very b asic stuff that we needed. All worked out well, kinda stayed in same area to be close to my children and granddaughter. No regrets for sure. PS housekeeping is quick and easy. Lots of time to travel.........

I totally understand what you are talking about because my husband and I both are in our 60's and we are moving next month to Virginia Beach from a home in NC where we have lived in for 15 years, Yes, it is hard work and it is amazing how much you can accumulate over the years. Also, I was happy to see your purchases from this company as I have bought over two dozen t-shirts from Eternal Light and they are wonderful! There is another Christian t-shirt company called Faith In Love that has beautiful t-shirts as well and they have the same kind of sales. Good luck to you on your move, Darlene and Lou! I moved three yrs ago to Texas from Oklahoma. I'm 66 and NEVER want to move again!! It's too hard. I used more medium-sized boxes because the large boxes were so hard to move. I'll be praying for you.❤❤❤️🙏🙏🙏
We've moved 6 or 7 times. I'd have to sit down and count! I only had movers one time. What a treat. I don't envy you. Save your back. Nothing bigger than med. boxes if you can. Use this time to clean out!! The second time we moved. That was our first big move after 3 children. We moved everything out from above the garage. As it came down, if it wasn't something we never touched since it went up there, it went in one pile to go. We even had wedding presents that we would of never used. WOW. It's hard to believe how much you accumulate. Good Luck!

I packed our entire house, the movers came and moved everything, I unpacked our entire house. Butch was out of town so I just went to work and got it done. It felt so good to donate so many things. We had lived in only 2 houses over the last 40 years so believe me…we had stuff to donate! No advise only to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Get used to the idea of having chaos for about one month and then things begin to take shape and settle down. This too shall pass! ❌⭕️❌⭕️. My favorite meatloaf recipe is your copy cat from Cracker Barrel. Delicious!!!

It’s way pass time. When we paint the cabinets, mine are very dark, I will need to purge a lot of unnecessary stuff. I know it’s challenging packing up and sorting everything. I am 83 we were threatened with flooding here where I live. I had already decided I would get a tiny home. Less upkeep, expense etc. Moved 36 times and don't regret getting rid of any material things. I have lived in houses as big as 3,200 sq ft down to the double wide mobile home I am now in. The hardest thing which is the most important is finding a church home/family that you feel you were meant to attend. Otherwise I feel it isn't the place you move to it is the friendships you make and I am certain you will have no problem with that.

I really feel for you moving. I sold my house and moved in December of 2020 and I was 68 at the time. My husband had died that January and the house was too much for me. We had a 3200 square foot home ( not counting basement, garage and attic) on 5 acres of land. I had to pack up and get rid of so much. Thank goodness my 2 grandkids were in College and came on week ends to help. I now live in a 1700 sq foot home in a small town and love it! I to used medium size boxes. My contractor had his crew move everything to the house he was remodeling for me. He even used his trucks and had the guys put all the boxes in the right rooms and the furniture including set up the beds. It’s exhausting moving but don’t focus on that, think of this move as just a new exciting journey in your life. I will be praying for you and your husband that no one gets any injuries and stays safe!! Bless you! Oh, I did order some tee shirts!
We made an interstate move about 8 years ago and now finally have our tiny homestead here in east Tennessee 3 years ago. NOT moving again lol. Did it for years with military moves and I'm almost 62 and I'm over it lol.
I had to empty my classroom this summer due to repairs happening at my school-ugh! I am in my fifties and even my eyelashes hurt. 😅If it wouldn't have bee for some teens from a local church youth group I might have NEVER finished in one piece. Congratulations and blessings over this new adventure.

We’ve lived in our home for 48 years and I would love to move but I’ve often wondered if we would be up to it at our age. My hubby and I recently moved from our home that we lived in for 26 years and it was tough. We are actually suppose to close on the old house on my birthday June 30th. Hi Darlene: I have been watching your channel for some time and would like to comment on Senior moving. It is a lot of work at a slower pace. We also went to medium boxes as my son could not lift the large ones. Also down sizing and selling, donating and just trash takes time. Glad you two are starting now without a new house it will help immensely when it is time. Hopefully last move for me at 65 getting too old for this. You just do not realize when you are older it takes a lot more energy and time to get things done. But keep the faith and you will get there. God bless !
I am a strange bird.. I always loved to move. A new home, new area.... I always marked my boxes with a #. And a note pad, listing each box # and what was in it. 😊 Are you downsizing? I enjoy meatloaf so much more as an adult 😋 Thank you for sharing
We moved last year we are both in our early 70's it was an exhausting process , packing purchasing more and more boxes that not only were expensive but sometimes difficult.to.get correct.size as you pointed out large ones are just too heavy. We had a moving company and the contents had to be stored for 3 months, very expensive. After we found our new home the experience got worse the moving company lost some items others were damaged. Standard contracts state moving company only liable for 60 cents per dollar replacement unless a separate insurance rider is purchased. I ended up getting the attorney general.of Florida involved after 3 more months missing items were found damaged ones sloppily repaired. A year later I can safely say the process is worse than giving birth! I sincerely wish you well just beware when contracting movers. Will keep you in prayer for this life change. On a positive note I ordered my t shirts today thanks for sharing

We have been in our house since 1999 ~ are in our 70’s and hate to think of packing up. It’s amazing what you collect. Our Florida home is small and all on one floor so as long as the neighborhood is good, we will be right here. Blessings and prayers for the Lord to lead you to your next home quickly. ❤❤❤

My hubby and I recently moved from our home that we lived in for 26 years and it was tough. We are actually suppose to close on the old house on my birthday June 30th. Absolutely love the shirts and yes you look great in baby blue! Dinner looked delicious! Moving is harder as we get older. I’ve been in my current apartment for 7 years and I want to move to a house soon! So will definitely be purging! Not looking forward to moving, but will maybe hire someone!

I have been watching your channel for some time and would like to comment on Senior moving. It is a lot of work at a slower pace. We also went to medium boxes as my son could not lift the large ones. Also down sizing and selling, donating and just trash takes time. Glad you two are starting now without a new house it will help immensely when it is time. Hopefully last move for me at 65 getting too old for this. You just do not realize when you are older it takes a lot more energy and time to get things done. But keep the faith and you will get there. God bless !

We moved last year we are both in our early 70's it was an exhausting process , packing purchasing more and more boxes that not only were expensive but sometimes difficult.to.get correct.size as you pointed out large ones are just too heavy. We had a moving company and the contents had to be stored for 3 months, very expensive. After we found our new home the experience got worse the moving company lost some items others were damaged. Standard contracts state moving company only liable for 60 cents per dollar replacement unless a separate insurance rider is purchased. I ended up getting the attorney general.of Florida involved after 3 more months missing items were found damaged ones sloppily repaired. A year later I can safely say the process is worse than giving birth! I sincerely wish you well just beware when contracting movers. Will keep you in prayer for this life change. On a positive note I ordered my t shirts today thanks for sharing
