Holding on to anger is like holding hot coals in your hand, it only hurts you. You don't forgive people to do them a favor (and it certainly doesn't mean allow them back into your life) you forgive to let go and move on. From a Buddhist perspective a wrongdoing is a debt that either you owe to someone or someone owes to you-- until you write off ("forgive") that debt-- you stay tied to that person. Forgiveness cuts the tie.

Tina was sick and broken as well when she was with Ike. They were dysfunctional and toxic together. She needed to be healed from her childhood trauma. She eventually got the strength to leave Ike and the healing began, but it took her a long time to forgive him for not loving her the way she loved him, but eventually, she did.
She became stronger and more free and at peace with her self rest well Tina

She was an active participant in their toxic dysfunction. See, what she was doing at that time in her life was what many people do, it's a response to trauma. She was trying to get a person who was incapable of loving her to love her in a way that he could not (because of his own trauma). Tina's mother abandoned her, and then her father abandoned her. That right there was the source of her pain, she was searching for a kind of unconditional love and acceptance that she didn't get from her parents. But she sought it from a person that she subconsciously knew couldn't give it to her.
@@stephanie3506She sought in a person that was a parental figure. Most of the time someone who tells you what to do is often abusive because they want to tell you what to do in the first place. Ike had his own childhood pain and sharing these stories was their first trauma bond, the next would come from the cycle of abuse-- and now you establish the pattern.

Ike was a very sad, troubled man that probably never understood himself. He was extremely tortured until the day he died-- which is still very sad, because he was a person. The drugs and being bipolar I'm sure made that worse. It's crazy how much your childhood affects you long into your adult life.

She had to have left the situation before she was able to feel differently about it. It's impossible to see it while she was in it. She forgave him after he died.
When you think about ike he was so dark and that man truly was fighting himself from within.. although he had a very rough childhood and was raped at a young age.. he was crying for help and didn't know how to love and care for anyone he even beat the hell outta his own son that how much of a dark place he was in and when he died he was able to confess that in the book thus freeing himself from that dark person he was when he was living Tina tried to change but he was already far gone by the time when she finally left him

it's called dysfunction, usually caused by addiction of some kind.
Tina contradicted herself through the years. She said she forgave Ike decades ago now she admitted that she hated him. In her first book and in older interviews she said she loved him then recently she acted like she did not. She clearly never got over him which explains why she was resentful and always dwelled on their relationship.
Dont forget Tina talked about how good Ike was in bed and she enjoyed being with him intimately but then said she felt like he was sa her.
That’s because she was lying on him the whole time. When someone lies, the story changes slightly each time the tell it.
Some perspective. According to Judge Joe Brown, the movie made Ike out to be the abuser and that was not the whole story. They left out anything to put Tina in a negative light, including that she beat up on him and had a kid with one of Ike's band mates. Everyone who knew them said that he wasn't nearly as bad as that movie made him out to be. Tina herself said that the movie did Ike dirty. It's a shame no one knows this.
If Tina didn’t forgive him, Ike would’ve still had power over her even after his death. Excellent virtue!✊🏽

It's suprising a practicing Buddhist this would be a struggle this so late in life. Not saying she doesn't have reason to-- but one of the more basic tenants is looking at a wrongdoing as a debt. Therefore she would know until she writes off his debt, he would continue to have a tie to her. The art of forgiveness isn't for others, it's for yourself. There's something very sad about her tying herself to a past she outwardly was trying to hide from.

He was raped at 12 by a woman he agreed to help do chores on her property. Ike himself said that is how he became promiscuous from a young age. An evil spirit attached to that woman attached to Ike when he was raped.

From what I heard, it was Tina who was the problem. She was actually the abuser not Ike. Ike was a mentor to inner city children. Telling the children to stay in school, respect your parents and stay out of trouble. I heard Tina was physically abusive. Hitting Ike Turner. Tina is was supposedly really evil.
