    Looks good, pumps great, another success. Very creative idle stop. Slipping knobs can be maddening. The mixture needles can get very tight and make it tough on the knob. 1st try "exercising" it with knob off using needle nose, or just use needle nose to back it out and remove it. Once it starts moving, the knob can often be used to remove completely. Lightly spray the needle/bore with your favorite liquid elixir (that won't plug the idle passages, oils are fine) and screw back in, then they're usually freed up enough to not strip the mixture knob and most knobs will still work. You can also heat the mixture tangs and bend them inward to get a better bite. Normally, you only need to bend one or 2 tangs inward. Doesn't take much heat to "re-thermoset" the plastic. It's nice of you to put these videos out for novices, I'm sure they're greatly appreciated!

    What a great little runner. She'll make a good fishing motor for years to come. Nice work TOO.

    Do this all the time, I use a old rubber washing machine water line, one end to the garden hose, cut the other end oshove it on the mid section pick up tube, fits good no clamp needed, great videos..

      @@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 i just purchased a 1984 9.9 your video showed me that i do not need to worry about that silly little circle which is broken on mine, i had to fix the tiller handle on it and and re sync the gear in handle due to it slipping, and i also used this video to help with taking off my lower unit turns out i have to pull the whole power head on it because i have a water leak from the water jacket im currently waiting on that gasket. i have a question for you how would i make my tiller handle feel more loose? whenever i apply throttle it feels like im gonna break something it just feels very stiff

      @@sentuardude8647 Hey. I would tear the whole thing apart. Usually it's just crap/corrosion making it stiff. Clean it up and grease it up! Should be good to go. Thanks again & Stay Tuned !

    Put a small hose clamp on that slow speed adjustment knob and tighten it. Had to do that to mine because it was slipping. It'll squeeze it down right on that shaft.

    Not sure how some of us work on these motors like we do but my 1982 evinrude 15hp gave me one to many headaches so I bought a 2024 Suzuki 20hp I’m sure I’ll have more to come lol

    I know you like to make repairs to substitute original parts which is great I do occasionally myself as I also hate spending money on outboard parts cause Im just plain fricken spoiled,HA! Anyway I have all those parts,LOLL! Just about everything for 9.9-15Hp those models. Their collecting dust we could trade also if you prefer..Just a suggestioness I speaka the Spanish like are buddy Kodi-Bass,LOLL! That motor sounds great can tell its tight just by the sound of the reeds when your pulling it and when it stops also you can here the compression and see the jolt when it stops. So much nicer then those 9.5HP and cast iron connecting rods too HAAA!

      @THISOLDOUTBOARD1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey. Yeah I have them too, except the dial, and they're still available online. But it's not my motor, not to mention it was a crappy design to begin with, Hahaha any slop in those gears and the nylon screw was to short, you had to file down the dial. Hahaa. If Capt. Ron wants to buy them he can put them in. Thanks for tuning in!

    • @OutBoardTink62
      @OutBoardTink62 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 Yeah they make those dials cheap now 3D printed I bought one for shits and giggles never used it yet.Yes it is a terrible design and your right about the slop in the gears everything affects the whole picture,LOL! but I always like to make everything that was their originaly if I can.Yeah understood why throw away your money on someone elses motor..

    Until the lower unit is in all the way, it's normal to have your shifting control all wrong as the shift rod is over-extended. Then, the lower unit will be in neutral as the engine side shifter is pulled back in reverse. As the lower unit mates with the middle section, everything gets aligned (with the water tube hopefully being properly inserted in the pump housing). You could easely solve that moskeetos issue ... move North . Stay safe and be merry !

    I give this video my seal of approval. The idle stop looks factory to me. Too much grease on the top on the shaft, made it hard to push in. 🤔

  • @drivelife35
    @drivelife35 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Maybe you could wait to put the prop on until you are done running the engine.... makes running motors in buckets/barrels easier and dont spill water so much.....put the prop last when all else is finished..... Thats what i do..... just some food for thought..... gr8 job all the same
