IMO there needs to be a tier list for low cost espers as well, for cost-limited PVPs. I feel in cost-limited events, it is easier to get away with using low cost espers than penny-pinching on either units or VCs.
Hard to tank MR/SR Espers. Most of them have niche use, like you said cost-limited PvP. If I have to rank, Chimera/Coeurl/Malboro/White Dragon have more universal use than the rest.
@@Hallenpopo Ogre has both DEF and ATK up nodes, Zuu and Bomb both has HP+ nodes, Floateye has Pierce and Fire resist etc. We've had cost restrictive matches of 540 total or less for a full unit+esper+VC, there's no way to include 100 cost units and UR VCs without equipping lower cost espers. It is always better to have more information available so that everyone can pick and choose which strategy to adopt. A lower cost esper tier list/breakdown/general discussion would be great for that instant.
@@citypunk326 My point still stand: very niche. I dont know about high rank guilds, but limited cost PvP I didnt have room for tank, all 3 DPS worked better for me. I do have lv99 Orge but he just sit there collecting dust. All of them offers different things, everyone can take a look of what they offer to decide whether an Esper fits the situation/character. And that makes it hard to rank them because there are all variables without a common baseline. PS: Cactuar are actually pretty good, low HP but Human killer/mag/mag atk make him great because he can fit everywhere with every magic atker, not just on a specific element.
@@Hallenpopo "niche" information is still information, and just as you have your 3 DPS tactics other people have their own styles too. And again, you still would not have been able to kit out 3 UR DPSs + UR VCs + 3 MR espers within that 540 cost limit. In my opinion, VCs grant team-wide buffs and espers give personal boosts, so in general going for UR VCs is a logical idea for the maximum gains. There are a lot of variables to consider, so every combination is worth being discussed.

But, if you allow me, I have to kindly give you my sincere opinion on that subject and you're treating this topic in a very superficial manner, considering advanced PvP/GvG. For example, Ochu. He actually is one off the best picks for Celes to be the wall she's thanks to it's elemental resistences. He can counter check Lightning with amazing 20 Lightning Res + Slash Res + Flat DEF... Easily, the best tanking option against Cloud! But man, zero problem with that! Another great subject as always! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! For sure will help a lot of players to take an easier approach on espers!

What I would love to see is you go through your units and what they're wearing/best in slot items. I feel there are a lot of old units that never got the Spotlight treatment that I have no idea how to gear them.

I like the format. Its concise and to the point. It also gives us not too board a list as too many could be a bit much to choose from. I think for tanking ones though it definitely has more uses for sub slots too since HP gives you a higher percentage than like for ATK or MAG will for dps. Espers really need an overlay that shows their resistance, killers, etc stats in a similar manner to how truststone stats are shown. Please put ouf more videos like this. If nothing else build suggestions are always nice and I enjoy the conversation.

The only problem with Bloody Moon is that he reduces your Light resistance, which is a bummer since he would otherwise be very attractive as an anti-Jayden Esper
Honestly, I've been running Odin on my tank for PVP lately, and its made a HUGE difference. LOTS of agility, slash res, missile res, AND man killer? Do now my tank has their turn come up more often, can take hits much better, AND actually does good damage. Prolly not good for EVERY tank obviously, but for K. Mont and Engelbert it's been working for me.
I think Ochu needs more recognition only because Cloud is so strong and it counters most of what he can do. I use him on lightning hunting partys to great succes
Thanks for this video. Espers are intimidating to me because i don't want to use visiore on it and now, there's a handful of the new potions i feel hesitant to use. In any case, i have the compulsion to make a general build for all my 99 espers. Would you have any more additional tips on how to delegate esper points or maybe even point out my flaws in thought process, especially since i like having many teams?

Good list, but I think you might be missing some Espers lile Fenrir (magic resist), Carbuncle (Dark res and misiles res), Iron Giant (dark res and slash res).
I would consider them in the "all" category. Especially Fenrir, he got a rap as a tank esper when he dropped because he had magic resist when other espers didn't but IMO he is a slash attack esper with magic resist rather than a tank esper.
All Fenrir has for tanky stats is Magic resist and fire resist. He is more of a slashing DPS esper which can be built into a magic resist build if you want too.
and don't forget the disable resist buff....we all know there is a fire tank king out there that likes to be disabled coff coff... for me is really an S tier too
Phoenix is really the best PVE esper for dark in my opinion , the healing is really helps , and the buff will helps to increase life absorption for dark team.
it's weird that titan was here and fenrir isn't and well aigaion as well for magic tanks... and mindflayer is here which I sort of consider as a baby aigaion

Ochu simply paired with A Vow to Meet Again can give water units 40% more lightening resist, with alexandrite ring and maxed runes there's 17% more, and that 15% slash res and 15 def, are you sure this cugly looking boo boo is only B tier in the near future?
I think any Esper with SPR or DEF on the board counts as a ranking esper. Even though they might not be perfect, for me that’s the cutoff. So, I would count Freizess on there, but the real question is, where’s Ogre?! Lol. Jk, this is a good list. But I would have put Ogre on there in C tier because of the 15 DEF. And he is only cost 20, so good for limited cost where you still want to stack DEF and get some slash attack.
I put the "All" category in this video specifically for these kind of espers. Take a close look at Fenrir and those other guys and I think you will see they are more offensive espers that can be used for the one or two defensive stats if you want.

Lich works well with the earth sanctum red mage. Beefs her up to be a hell of a bruiser in the selection quests
For Titan, i’ve been using him on Oberon since i don’t have elafikeras. More of a bruiser esper and it really helps.
I have both Titan and Elifikeras esper maxed and I think Titan is better for Oberon. Spr and acc are game changing in the current meta.

Sure, like I say in the beginning all espers have at least some utility for tanks, but most are meant for other purposes.
