*Note: that the process is slightly different if you're on PC. You can't drag and textures from the materials panel as shown. You need to instead, click on 'Use Texture Image' and browse to the material you want to override from your drive.

I have been trying to locate Materials in C Drive & can not find it anywhere. I have browsed all of the Forums & tutorials and they all lead to a dead end.
Hi Eric, my geometry does'n change to the assigned colour ... I go through all the steps in this video and it still does not change to assigned colour... please help...
Are you on PC? I learned after making this video that the process is a little different between operating systems. See pinned comment for tips on Windows.
Is there a way to get the edges (line work) to display as color by tag, just like in AutoCAD? as for edges, I can only find color by material and color by axis!!
It is...but on Windows, it's slightly different for using Textures instead of colors. You have to path to a material rather than clicking on one from the Materials library

I use color by tag to show structural, non-loadbearing, demolition elements... independent of their surface finishes assigned the normal way
Loving this Eric, seems so obvious once you see it done. Thanks for the video.
You are using Sketchup for Mac, how do you do it in Windows, looks like you have to have a library of textures to use Tag by Material
Very helpful feature ! Thanks SKP team
greetings from georgia,
great lesson & eric you are the good teacher, thanks a lot

Great tutorial Eric. Thank you!!!!!

Is there a way to display colored line work like AutoCAD?
Is there a reason why I can only color by tag with the color wheel? I don't seem able to pick materials like you show?
Maybe its only applicable to newer versions of SketchUp?
(Just guessing - - just learned of this feature now)
You can browse to a Texture for tags like material, too.
The materials browser has always been different between Mac and PC. The concept should still work the same ;)
hello if I want to change the color of the dashes, i possible?
Wow - Thanks - - didn’t know SketchUp had this feature!

@@SketchUp oh, so that is kind of a inbuilt SketchUp problem, and I was wondering if I am doing something wrong,,, thanks for this clarification
You always have to assign materials to geometry, all render apps or plugin only recognize materials,by geometry and not by tags
In Windows is not so easy to assign a library material to a tag ....
man you just blow my mind boom
excellent
