Hit or miss ideas. Maybe good for someone who doesn't have a lot of threads, fabric, fat quarters or supplies. Serious sewers need serious organizational ideas.

On the cardboard fabric holders, wouldn’t it make sense to have a little strip of each fabric showing? Rather than cover everything with the top fabric?

These are great ideas! One tip is to always store your thread in plastic covered containers because dust is an arch-enemy and can mess up your sewing machine performance among other things.

Okay, so you guys had time to find matching binder clips and to get all that cardboard and other stuff but you could not find a green rubber band? This is messing with me on a mental level

RIGHT??? use hair bands if you want a close match. I just used that color green in my hair yesterday.
Great idea though. I hate searching for the matching bobbin.

If that cardboard stays inside fabric for very long it will change the fabric color. Maybe there is a acid free solution. I only know this because I make my own bias tape and I wrapped it around cardboard.

Some really cute ideas, but I am not a quilter. I am a Historic Costumer, so I don't think much of this will work with large pieces of Silk, Linen and wool. However, I do have a stash of quilting cottons that I just may use it for.

Adding wire wool to your pincushion stuffing keeps pins and needles sharp!

Wrapping the fabric around the cardboard, you'll need to unwrap every time you need some fabric. And also putting them on the file cabinet things for the clear plastic box, looks nice but so much wasted space.

Well, there's 3:27 minutes I can't get back. This was more a how to decorate your useless sewing space than organizational tips.

Clearly these “tips” were not conceived by anyone who actually sews or wants a functional space. It is purely “pretty” like a colorful painting. And the jazzy-ish music was not wonderful either...

I have no idea how that first one is suppose to help with organization. Every time you need to find a specific scrap, you'll need to unravel that entire thing and it'll just make a bigger mess.
The second one is good in theory if the pin cushion was thicker, but the last thing you want to do is throw loose bobbins in a jar like that. Good luck fishing them out without them tangling up 😱

  • @SheerStitchery

I couldn't imagine having such small fabric scraps... i feel like this is more for a quilter than a garment sewist 😂
I would love ideas for storing full bolts of fabric, as well as the large rolls of vinyl or waxed canvas - those are what I struggle with to find a visually appealing storage solution for them...

Until I figure out or find a better idea to store spools of thread and bobbins, I put them together in a small sandwich bag, sometimes the bag has three or four contrasting colors. I have these bags in a plastic container or plastic drawer. No, it isn't very pretty, but I can find the spool of thread and the bobbin quick enough.

LOL. Not helpful for real fabric quilter crafter or artist. Think of real buckets of fabric. Walls of color.

NEVER roll fabric onto plan cardboard for storage. LOTS of acid in the cardboard which will eat up your fabric if left for a while. NOT a good idea.

Some good. Some Not so good. Some needed to be taken a step further. Wrapping the selected piece so sloppy and not smooth over the cardboard the first idea made me cringe. Also Why mark each thing on each time. Just Cut across the thing with the exacto knife all at once. That's what the grids are for.
But relatively good iceas. I would have put the fabrics in the hanging files over a piece of cardboard. Not on the outside. But I sort of understand why.
