    Thank you posting this great idea!!! I was thinking of trying this to make a simple skull like true-form's. Just a generic shape to build upon. This way i can uses it as a base for any portrait model. Keep your videos coming. :)

      Thank you for your comments! That is exactly right, except I have a tendency to get carried away with the building of the armature. :)

      3DworlD2 Thanks. I am a portrait artist but had always liked sculpting although had only made 1 small piece. It sold for $400 lol Maybe I should try sculpting big pieces too lol You are very talented too.

      Thank you for your comments! WOW, that is amazing! Your first small sculpture and you sold it for $400.00! I would like to know, what material did you use to make it? Do you have any pictures of it? You are amazing! You can draw, paint, sculpt and fix water pipes and valves!

      3DworlD2 LOL I used modeling clay… the one that once you finish your sculpture, you can put in the oven to 'cook'. LOL That was the simplest way I knew I could do since have no clue as to what's the process to finish sculptures like you do, once you finish the sculpting face, nor I have any of those ovens or things for molding. After it was finished, I painted it for a patina look. It came out really nice. I want to do more. It was Jesus figure just after he was taken down the cross. laying down on the floor and upper back resting again the cross. I made it based on a painting I did. I know I took pics but can't find them. Once I find them, will show it to you.

      3DworlD2 I uploaded the pic to my google. it doesn't do justice to the piece but at least you get an idea of how the piece look. thanks.

    I was really surprised that the KRYLON EASY TACK adhesive worked! I read the side of the can, and it said/I think it said that it leaves the foam tacky and easy to re-position. So I assumed it would not be a permanent adhesive. But it STICKS. And it did not eat away at my foam like the Gorilla High Strength adhesive. I always spray on both pieces of foam. Anyways, thank you for the tip

      +Awen Lee that is called "Hot Wire" for cutting foam.

    Its interesting that there are other ways to get around an problem...how much were the materials and that heat wire?

    • @Liberty_Valance
      @Liberty_Valance  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the insulator foam sheet 4'X8' was around $20.00, Oil based clay is around $4.00 per pound and Heat wire stuff around $120.00.

      3DworlD2 i saw some guys build a dragon out of a very light foam(tested monster hunter) and ive been wanting to get the foam they used... They mention the name of it but i just cant find it... Do you know of any website that sells foams for sculpting?

    What kind of adhesive did you use to bond the foam pieces together? Does the glue hinder the hotwire in any way?

    • @Liberty_Valance
      @Liberty_Valance  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      KRYLON Easy-Tack and the hot-wire goes through it like butter.

    how do you fix it if you cut off too much foam?

    • @Liberty_Valance
      @Liberty_Valance  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is just an armature to hold the clay. If an area is cut too low, I just build it up with clay during sculpting.

    I'm mind blown. What is this technique called?

    • @Liberty_Valance
      @Liberty_Valance  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Vic2u Thank you for your comments! I wanted to sculpt a bigger sculpture and it is not practical to make it all out of clay for two reasons; it would be very expensive and it will be very heavy. I decided to use foam as a core filler. So I can call it a money saving technique! :)

    • @vic2rvic
      @vic2rvic 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah but foam sculpting looks amazing! You really did not have to use it as an armature for your clay. It's a masterpiece just like this!

      Hi, thanks for your kindness. My doubt was on how to affix the barrel of the structure at the base. I coul tell it was very firm. But then i saw in another video of yours that the barrel is placed inside the wood. Simple and great. thank you again. I´m going to stay focused on you in the hope that you´ll make a horse rearing. :)

    • @Liberty_Valance
      @Liberty_Valance  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You were correct I drilled two small holes in the wooden base for two short PVC pipes that were inserted in the holes and then I used a PVC, T connector and an elbow connector on top of the two short pipes. As for the Horse sculpture, I’m planning to sculpt one in ZBrush, stay tuned.
      Cheers! :)
