Do you know what kind of clay this is? And how it does not "explode" when baked?
you sculpt the clay in such a way that there are no zones in your clay which contain air that can't escape out of the sculpture. Heated air that can't escape expands and makes your sculpture explode

Many of you unfamiliar with clay sculpting may think that video was played at a faster speed but it's actually normal speed. When working with such a large piece, he has to move that fast or else the clay will dry prematurely. It's a skill you learn with years of practice.
The video was played at a higher speed - x5. Sculpted head lasted more than 1 hour.
