Mistakes were made this day, people. Mistakes were made. On another note: I did make it back to the boat ramp. At full speed, it took me 28 minutes to make the 2 miles trip back to the boat ramp averaging 4mph without any pedal assist. I fished and trolled a total of approximately 5 miles for 3 hours. I had 2 power bars remaining out of 6 by the time I made it back to the ramp. @@TheFishAndTrips 💯 keep grinding bro I just found your channel and subscribed. I like that you do your own thing and not post what most of these Texas guys are doing at the moment.
So happy you made it back thru. It reminded me getting caught in a strong tide situation and I had to pedal my pedal my butt off in my 106 PDL. Haven't been back to that place again. Now I have the 106MK, still won't go back there. Now i really pay attention to the tide movements. Now on the fish finder, you should mark your favorite spots. Then in a foggy situation, you can navigate to that spot with out looking for land marks. Stay safe and hopefully I can meet up with you and we can go fishing. Tight Lines.
Good point. I always mark the boat ramp because that's the only thing I care about getting back to, but put in a marker at the flood gate would help for next time. Although, I'm not doing that again. 😂
Dude, we were all pedaling with you on that one! Wow! You had all our hearts pounding afterward. No joke! I was afraid with a 7 mph current and a 4 mph effort from you, you'd be swept back. Nice effort! Glad you were successful!
Geez man I know that lake like the back of my hand. I’ve seen how strong those currents get at that gate. Can get wicked when tide is ripping one way and wind is the opposite!!!
Yeeeah, I was like oh 💩. I'm really about to get sucked around this corner and nothing I can do can stop it. At that point, I just made sure my kayak wasn't facing sideways when going through.
Maaaaaaan bro be safe out there , the bad part about current like that is it makes you feel like you're about to flip over , I said I would never go into that kind of current again on a kayak
I’ve had a couple moments like that crossing San Luis Pass during once during a tournament with high winds and sketchy current. Another time was just a big tide change day. SLP is no joke but if you plan your route you can let the current take you where you want to go. Your situation however… super hairy trying to get back through the gates. I felt your anxiousness through the screen

Man, glade that you are okay. You should always try to take another kayaker with you if you’re gonna be fishing Moses Lake. I would try Christmas bay, there’s always Kayaker out there if you get in trouble.
I was bank fishing on the lake side and a kayaker had a fish finder and he was at the mouth of the gate. Out of curiosity, I asked him the water depth. He said 35 feet. I imagine that depth changes as the sediment moves around but that's scary to think about.
Quick question for you. I have just ordered the k1 with the big battery and do a lot of offshore trolling out here in NC. My travel to/from my Spanish/king mackerel grounds off shore is around 4 miles each way. If I keep the battery just for hole shot/travel back to ramp do you think I’ll run out of battery if I keep it at mid power?
No, they didn't go out. I just wasn't recording. I thought I was but didn't notice until going through the gate. I have a GoPro remote that activates my GoPros at the sametime. There's just one flaw...I gotta hit record for them to work. 🤷🏾♂️
Man talk about testing the limits; you just *accidentally* dove straight right in, face first. But at the end of that day I bet you have full confidence in your setup. Glad to see you made it past the event horizon and returned in one piece unscathed and dry.
Hey man I just bought the k1 for my pro angler. I bet my big a$$ would have been stuck huh. (300 pound angler). When I get into bad spots I just try to land somewhere and put my wheels in and portage over land to safer water.( I keep my cart wheels onboard with me) I know you made a game time decision but just something to help you stay safe in the future. Tight lines.
Scary shit. Glad you made it through ok. Prop wash crossing too closely behind a ship in the TC channel will scare ya pretty bad too, ask me how I know.
Well, THAT sucked! You had that "I just stepped on a snake" look in your eyes. I once got pinned against a bridge piling in lake Conroe at 4am by myself by a sudden storm with 30+ mph winds. I was in an 18' boat, but it scared the bejebbers out of me.
Fish and Trip: Hey MDLR, can you come pick me up at the Texas City Dike boat ramp? MDLR: Sure buddy, no problem. What happened?…did your truck break down? Fish & Trip: Nah brother. I was showing off to my TH-cam followers how brave I am by going through the Moses Lake flood gates 😂😂😂
I thought I was gonna have to hook my boat up, grab an oxygen tank and come find ya.! To scary for me. Be careful out there brother. "Tight Lines and Full Limits To Ya"
You mean the part where I initially got sucked in pushing my hands against the wall? Wasn't recording and didn't realize it until halfway through the gates.😩😭🤢🤮
I dint see much fishing but I thought you was gonna die man 😢 the reason I never got a yak was the fear of dying 🐊 🦈 🌊 you and Mark dlr should go with the yak to the oil rigs to fish snapper 🫣
Yeah, I edited all of the fishing out of the video. This was far more important. Even though I didn't catch any fish anyway. 😂 I wouldn't drive to an oil rig in a boat if I had one. 😂

Yeah I've been here before, but it was a incoming tide, so the gates kept pushing me away keeping me inside the lake. Won't make that mistake again.
Dude that’s a long way! I started and turned around because I couldn’t see due to the fog. Stay safe Bro!

If I keep the battery just for hole shot/travel back to ramp do you think I’ll run out of battery if I keep it at mid power?
Yes, if you run it power 6, I believe it will take you there and back. Once you reach the spot, manuel pedal. Current plays a big factor
Glad you made it out! Did you catch any fish?
And what happened to the video of you getting swept through?
GoPro wasn't recording. Annoying because I was trying to get pinned from that wall for a few minutes before finally getting sucked in.
