    Jamie Wollam occupies the big chair - or drum throne - for legendary art-rock band Tears for Fears! Check out the amazing drum rig he uses on their current The Tipping Point World Tour and watch more rig tours here 👉 th-cam.com/play/PLlczpwSXEOyYmDKuXqhFP9TjXg5Dgaw2u.html

      Noice!! What a re the actual sizes of his drum kit? He only pointed out the 24" kick. I'm guessing 13, 16 18 toms?

    I worked crew for TFF last Friday in Kelso Castle. Got to tear down the guitar rig and drums, both the guitar tech and drum tech are extremely nice people. Everyone in the TFF camp were so nice, fantastic night.

    Glad you guys mentioned that this was a former TFF drummer speaking to the current TFF drummer! Biggest TFF fan in the world and would love a lengthier discussion of your experiences with Roland & Curt. Much love & sincere thanks to you both for your contributions to my favorite band of all time!

    Two of my favorite drummers! Makes me wonder if Nick had the urge to play with the band for old times' sake ;)
    Love Tears for Fears since my childhood, Jamie plays the songs so close to the recordings it's unbelievable, especially when some of it was programmed.
    Rock on!

    Just saw them last week at Madison Sq Garden, and man those drums sounded great. That snare, as Nick said here was one of the thickest, fullest, and best sounding snares I've ever heard.

    Always a great job Nick, see you in Leeds in September!

    I have to agree with this guy. I've seen a good 30 or 40 videos that Nick has done for Sweetwater demoing various drum kits, but ultimately the $5000 DW and the $900 Gretsch sound very similar (at least on video) relative to the price difference. The sound in the A&F video, however, was on an entirely different level. And they just look like a blast to play.

    Great video, thank you! Jamie seems like a laid back, soft spoken cat who would be cool to hang with.
    I saw this video pop up and had to watch because Jamie played on a few albums that were the soundtrack to my high-school career. Michael Sweet, Michael Sweet - Real, The Brave - Trust and I am sure there are others. Great player all around.

    Jamie's a cool dude. Met him in passing at the Rock and Roll hall of fame a few years back. I just so happened to have front row tickets to see them (Tears for Fears) in Orlando the very next week. He said he'd try to get us backstage to meet the rest of the band but no dice. Oh well...

    Great band, great drummer, great retailer, and I'm sure the drums sound great.... but y'all-- can we PLEASE be honest about A&F's pricing? A kit like the one above will be at least $6K. Not buying it, figuratively or literally. They aren't made of gold. The hardware pricing is particularly offensive. A hoop- mounted clamp is $95, more than twice Tama's, a company with nearly 50 years' in the business. A&F Single braced boom cymbal stand: $179?! I love Sweetwater, I really do. But this brand is ridiculous.

    • @Elboy522
      @Elboy522 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Seconded. They know that if they get enough TH-cam clout, that shmucks will shell out 10 grand for a 5 piece kit. I find the bass drum "spurs" particularly offensive in their simplicity for the price

    • @jamiewollam1113
      @jamiewollam1113 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not interested in trying to sell you anything, drumrnva…. Just sharing my experience with these drums and my appreciation for them. The motto is play what you love, and I love them. Tama makes fantastic hardware and drums and accessories. The bass drum spurs were suspect to me when I first set up my kit. End result… my kick slides less than ANY other bass drum I’ve ever owned.

    • @drumrnva
      @drumrnva 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamiewollam1113 I totally understand, and it's good of you to reply. Congratulations on all your success, you sound great! And yes, hopefully lots of folks will get to play exactly what excites them at least once in their lives. My comments are nothing to do with A&F's attested quality. But having been a drum nerd for decades, watching Trends come and go, and having a general observation of industry pricing, I just don't see how these instruments could be a good value. If they sell a ton of kits with sweetwater, good on 'em. There's no way I'd buy one.

    Nice to see. But too much talking an no actual sound. Would be much appreciated to hear how it sounds.
    Better put them drums on a solid rock of ice if it's so ‘warm.’
    Such a tiring buzz word without any proper meaning : )

    • @jamiewollam1113
      @jamiewollam1113 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Appreciate your comment… “warm” is really the word that feels correct…. They sound round and full. Lots of even tone. Very little bad twang or ring… with ZERO padding. That’s at least what warm means to me w/regards to these drums.

    • @cornerliston
      @cornerliston 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamiewollam1113 Many thanks Jamie! Good to hear what you meant with that.
      Personally I avoid calling anything ‘warm’ since it means so different things for everyone.
