This man has some serious mojo working! ....And at least Keith actually uses his signature snare. In fact, since its release, I haven't seen him use anything else. So many other endorsees who have had signature models hardly use them...as if it's just a flavour of the week. Love you Keith! You're an incredible inspiration!
I love the playing of Steve Ferrone, Nate Smith, Ash Soan and so on. But Keith Carlock is the most musical drummer to my ears. When he's playing a groove I could listen to it for hours. Love it.
Who knew Keith would be such a great salesman as well. Excellent explanations of why he uses everything and how his gear serves both his style and touring needs.
I’m new to Kieth but can absolutely say he is an unforgettable, unmistakable drummer. His style is 100% unique. That drum sound is so mellow , it’s like marshmallows being beaten back into sugar. Yeah…poetry, man…
My favorite drummer right now, I just saw Keith with Steely, and I will be seeing him with Skunk and friends in a couple weeks and who knows maybe a visit to the Potato. Keep the Groove Alive KC you the man. Oh we have the same Bday too
LOVE his playing!! Had the opportunity to see him live with Steely Dan a bunch of years back, and he totally blew me away! My only issue is with the production sound on this video, I would have LOVED to hear his drums and cymbals with more of a room mic rather than a compressed/processed studio type of sound. (especially the cymbals) But it was a great thing to watch, and I hope to see him live again!
I'm a big fan of low to medium crack or the 70s dead sound .... Steely Dan , Eagles, even Judist Priest Sin Atfer Sin or anything back then.! That snare seems to do what ever you want!
Keith is known to have a very open lively Drumsound … that bares the question, why it all sounds so dull and muted in the mix when he plays in this video ?
I’m thinking the same thing. I was all excited when I saw this video, but compared to his normal sound… this was kind of disappointing. Great drummer. Great guy. Strange sound.. but then again, the Evans heads in my opinion don’t compliment a drummer’s individuality. They make all drums sound the same.
You are one of a Kind!!! Super drummer!! Besides this I do not like at all that bass drum sound, like vintage, I know is your sound but I would love to hear how do you play or Your fills, solos etc, with a punchy bassdrum sound!!! Regards
Yeah his gretsch drums and top tier cymbals, and that incredible snare are not as impressive as your Pearl export series. Or mapex. Get the F out of here
Ke-ropes? Should be pronounced Ker-o-pees. It is unfortunate - as seems to be the case here - that artist relations managers from the different companies (seemingly) did't provide information and coaching so Keith can speak authoritatively about their gear rather than struggling for something to say. Also, the BD front head gets a description but the back doesn't. I'm here for that back head. Oh well.... It's great that companies invest in doing videos. But this one is like watching a movie that has no script. Even worse, nobody involved seems to have noticed...or cared.

So true
@@RWKirby-gk7mk Cheers my friend.
What a great and humble drummer. The world needs more humble people like Keith in this world. Great sound and awesome technique.
Keith's super groovy and dynamic style is phenomenal!
I love the playing of Steve Ferrone, Nate Smith, Ash Soan and so on. But Keith Carlock is the most musical drummer to my ears. When he's playing a groove I could listen to it for hours. Love it.
Seh' ich auch so!
I saw Keith and Steely Dan about 7 or 8 years ago and it was incredible 2nd row center stage. He’s a monster drummer / player.
Who knew Keith would be such a great salesman as well. Excellent explanations of why he uses everything and how his gear serves both his style and touring needs.
Absolutely wonderful drummer with a very identifiable sound and feel. Love hearing him play in a band or solo.
Saw Keith with Steely Dan, his Gretch kit sounded Incredible.... Great drummer.
I’m new to Kieth but can absolutely say he is an unforgettable, unmistakable drummer. His style is 100% unique.
That drum sound is so mellow , it’s like marshmallows being beaten back into sugar. Yeah…poetry, man…
SUPERB drummer. Thank for posting, and cheers.
The other thing about Keith is his immaculate spacing between his notes but never stiff with amazing flow and groove.
Very musical wonderful sounding kit.
Beautiful drum kit Keith. It's a great match for your advanced skills.
My favorite drummer right now, I just saw Keith with Steely, and I will be seeing him with Skunk and friends in a couple weeks and who knows maybe a visit to the Potato. Keep the Groove Alive KC you the man. Oh we have the same Bday too
I'm so glad this exists!
God is he musical. The pocket is insane and you can hear every single note he plays with that open techique! Very inspiring!
Youve always inspired me and at this stage in my life i NEED it. Thanks.😊
Thanks for the inspiration Keith.
I have his sig snare after trying out many top brass snares and his Gretsch was the answer for me!!

Priceless Insights From a Master!! I Took Notes!!
FABULOSO!!!
One of the absolute best. Could put him on a Pearl Roadshow with ZBTs and he would still rip. Immaculate pocket.
Love Keith
Sick drummer
Master Class in finger technique (among many other things).
Yes!!
The brush slide w left hand :-)

Audio processing is a wonderful thing.
I agree as a mixer i must say that the mix was a bit strange.
The drums sounded like shit to be honest. That first tom was the weakest, most muted little blip.
2 ply on these I’m not a fan of
Keith is cool af- I try to drum like him!

Touring with Steely Dan means you're covering the greatest drummers on the planet, besides his own stuff. Porcaro, Purdie, Gadd, etc.
Редко услышишь хороший звук барабанов на Ютубе...

🤘😎🥁🔥👍
Mein Held ❤
To me the k zildjin cymbals have a dark sound
Double ply heads?
Snare finish looks more like an acid wash. Brass patinas green because its mostly copper.
An acid wash is also a patina genius
Had to put on x1.25 speed but good vid
Decent😀!
That's my kind of drummer.
I want that pantina on my flaynge
Lol
Not too intrigued or impressed with any of the gear to be honest. It's him that makes it sound good.

Love Keith and Gretch drums, but whoever engineered / mixed the audio of this video....eek. Sorry.
Kind of a Pantina vibe.....lol.
Hope they know who they had in the German diaspora...
So. Freakin. NASTY.
As an advert for drums, these sound terrible!
No they don't.
They sound great
What are you listening on? Try headphones if you aren't.
