    What's Up People!!! I love a good takeover account, especially from the national companies! ;) In this case, the mice population should be easy to eliminate because of the minimal food sources! I will be back there in a few weeks!

    I currently work for Orkin and I will tell you, most people don’t really care about there job as it’s just a job for them. It’s my job to point out conducive conditions for whatever pest might try infiltrate the home. If your pest tech isn’t constantly telling you to cut back trees, seal this or watch out for this in the coming months, than they aren’t doing there job right and are there for a check.
    Great work and take all the accounts of lack luster techs. Good job Dan.

    And today Dan the Man, you sounded hilarious as you pulled out the mouse nest in the garage.

    I hate basements for this very reason. My drop ceiling down there looks the same way. Can't find where they're coming from but I suspect it's the AC condensation drain line. I've had House mouse (the cute ones) and the field mouse (generic looking mice) . I'm always paranoide about touching the traps because I heard you're not supposed to get your scent on it. I guess if they were concerned about scent they would have picked another house.

    • @DanTheBugMan
      @DanTheBugMan  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes very good point. Mice really dont care too much about scent! And yes the drop ceiling is classic for mice

  • @plapnab

    Not a good idea to broadcast bait blocks up in a drop ceiling or on top of air ducts unless you plan on retrieving it at some point. Just because it’s in a place not accessible to non target animals doesn’t mean it won’t eventually wind up on the floor. Also, you’re not supposed to put multiple baits in one station unless they all contain the same active ingredient…which most likely they don’t. They should be secured and carded with date/active ingredient information.

    • @DanTheBugMan
      @DanTheBugMan  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Any bait even in a station COULD end up out of the station or on the floor. They they all have the same active ingredient that was labeled with a sticker ☺️ thanks for the comment and support

    • @plapnab
      @plapnab 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DanTheBugMan They are far less likely to make it out of a bait station if they are secured onto a rod vs just tossed around in a drop or on top the duct work. It’s not a bad idea, but you should at the very least make it retrievable by running them through a metal wire or something to that effect…I use coat hanger wire. You’re running the risk of someone’s pet, or worse someone’s kid getting into someday.

    • @plapnab
      @plapnab 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DanTheBugMan Also, you are correct in saying that the active ingredients are “similar”. They’re all second generation anti coagulants, but technically they are not the same. Probably difethialone and brodifacoum.

    • @DanTheBugMan
      @DanTheBugMan  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @plapnab I didn’t say they were similar. I said they were the same - Bromadiolone. Here’s a direct quote from the label “Apply bait in locations out of reach of children, pets, domestic animals, and nontarget
      wildlife, or in tamper-resistant bait stations”

    • @plapnab
      @plapnab 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@DanTheBugMan Agree to disagree I guess. Just keep in mind, that stuff is going to be there as long as the house exists…or, until someone removes it. Sorry if you feel I’m trying to call you out. Love the videos…you do great work.

    You got your camera and your rodent poison and you're a pest control professional.
    You MAY have addressed the problem temporarily, but you've done nothing to eliminate it. They'll be back, and so will another pest control company. You need to address entry points and do exclusionary work. Find any cracks or holes larger than your pinky and seal with rodent foam or 000 steel wool. When you removed the nest, there was a conduit with a piece of romex run through it. That's not to code (and not your problem) but it's a great super highway for mice to travel.
    Never let them see the fear in your eyes.

      It's common for the big name pest control companies to not check the stations or do the best job.
