Even more than that; they will rely on home remedies. I had one client who was spraying a hot sauce and dish soap concoction (I'm literally not even joking) because their neighbor told them to do it.
Good to see you wear proper PPE. They sell professional vacuums with hepa filters. Tip is to vacuum hot spots or clusters before treating. And another good advice is removal of items out of the cabinets before treating.
Living with my girlfriends family for like 2 years now and after the first six months her older brother finally caved and admitted he had bed bugs for like 2 months. They had begun to spread and we booked a fumigation from a local business. We had to turn the damn house upside down because we were told anything touching the walls, outlets, and random junk had to be cleaned n put away. We got all our clothes blasted them with the dryer and when the day finally came we had to stay out of our house for 8 hours. The man said he pumped the house full and especially the older brothers room. We washed all the dishes and wiped everything down again but I didn't trust it. A bit of a hypochondriac and I never want to experience any sort of infestation ever again. That being said the worker shouldn't have to do everything like removal of the dead bugs but he could just up his price/extend hours to do it anyway. Show how much he removed to still get the point across but he shouldn't have to prep the whole house. The client can do that too
@@C00T47I'm referring to the German roach infestation cooter, not bed bugs. Most cleaning and removing things out of the cabinets are the customers problem. Not the pest technician.
Great job! Just an FYI about the fridge. As simple as it may seem, that cardboard in the back is vital to the healthy operation of the unit. If it gets discarded, it's very wise to replace it.
Absolutely, it directs airflow from the condenser cooling fan for proper cooling over the compressor and associated coils for optimal performance. It is an important part, I mean piece of cardboard behind a fridge. Actually, Whirlpool has recently started using plastic instead.
Definitely enjoyed this format and especially the fact that you’re starting to use your PPE regularly. IGR’s are no joke and can pose health issues in humans so let’s keep those future babies safe!

Correction, baby cockroaches are NOT self sustaining. They can not eat regular foods like the adults do what they eat is the droppings from the adults also called Frass. When counseling clients I could not stress more the importance of proper sanitation and cleaning up the frass anywhere it is found. By eliminating the food source of the baby cockroaches you can have a major impact on the infestation.
Completely solved my German problem using bifen it and boractin. Only used the bifen as a barrier along baseboards to keep the infestation contained, as I don't like to spray a lot inside the house. Puffed boractin just about everywhere in kitchen. Then I made my own baits with half peanut butter and boractin. This cause the biggest population collapse. Took about 2 weeks but they are completely gone. The main infestation was around the dishwasher which I use heavily and never pre wash. Food water and warmth just like he said.
my girlfriend asks me how I can watch this while I'm eating and to be honest, it's really intriguing to me, and also because it gives info on how to get rid of these pests if anyone ever has a problem with them. He's also a good guy to watch!

I just did my own German cockroach treatment. So far its been ok. Population has gone super down. The fridge got delt with. We've made sure its clean, but yesterday we did see some new ones coming as well as babies (probably hatched). Either way were constantly looking for spots and looking at the glue tapes to see how the situation is looking.
@@Kylewraps My main for the spraying has been the Ortho Home defense gallon. Spraying behind fridge under cabinets and hardware. I've also used Combat MAX bait. And for daily use just a can spray (Raid or Real kill). I do inspections at night and day and check for blind spots to see. Like I said I've only seen babies and juvies. I've seen some adults but very little. As of today it is great. You do find some babies on the living room looking for food and 2 - 3 juvies on the walls. But that is as bad as it gets so far.

Great video Dan! I do the same work for my family since I am not licensed and the product that I use for a quarterly service is Ignite SC. It combines Bifenthrin and Imidacloprid and has worked great whenever I have treated my younger sister’s house (she pays me for the treatment. Chemicals and time aren’t free). Just yesterday I mixed Ignite SC and Tekko Pro in my B&G and treated my sister’s house for the routine quarterly service and also treated our rental house before our first tenants move in all in the same day. I used Ignite SC and Tekko Pro along with an application of D-Fense Dust in our rental house. Your Videos have helped me solve my family’s pest problems more effectively and efficiently. Keep them going
My Neighbor has roaches that are coming into my home where we share a common wall, they seem to enter from outside. I have started placing combat bait stations. They appear to be german cockroach. I think they are searching my place out. I see them once in a while in bathroom, one or two and kitchen near stove or frig & sink area in kitchen. There is nothing big yet but I think they are trying to spread.
If you are going to start using a vacuum for roach cleanups make sure that it has a HEPA filter. Cockroaches wings and parts of their exoskeleton break down easily and form dust particles. Breathing those particles in has been linked to asthma, so I want you to stay safe brother.
Dan get the “Victor” roach pheromone traps to use instead of glue boards They’re much more secure glue boards stick so easily to non target things like bottom of appliances or something accidentally touches them The pheromone traps come in a rectangular one and a triangular one either are better then glueboards tbh
I do.. moving into a new condo. Want to prevent any (if a neighbour had them). Can you Prevent them, when you are normally clean and never had any (always lived in house) and new to condo and don't wamt it from others. Or must I wait to see any?
Mr. Dan the Bug Man, what is the difference in treatment for German vs Chinese cockroaches? When I lived in Atlanta I had a minor problem with cockroaches. I bought a plug-in thing that supposedly sent electrical pulses through the apartment wiring. After two weeks I didn't see a roach for four months. And I was working very odd hours (sometimes up at 4 am, sometimes getting home at 1 am, sometimes writing a novel all night). I saw one, and then not another for four or five months. Are any of those wall plug-in things really worth it?
Do you council your clients on preventative measure to help prevent another infestation like this in the future? One of my biggest selling add on services was environmental remediation. After the infestation was over I would go back and seal all the cracks and crevice's in and around the kitchen cabinets, floor boards, in and around sinks, with caulk. I would take off the electrical socket covers and dust inside and put the cover back on. I would dust the heck out of the refrigerator mechanical compartment and put the cardboard backing back on after I had cleaned any frass off it. By eliminating the cockroaches preferred habitat it can go a long way to preventing future infestations. I would charge about 300 bucks for two hours worth of work. After suffering through infestations on this level customers were practically throwing their money at me to prevent this from ever happening again. It was a great add on sale and revenue stream.
thats genius to consider add ons in that way, and aslong as its not mandatory, nor forced onto the customer. and for cheaper options incase they do want it, but can't afford it
One question I have is, I'm finding babies here and there about 2 or 3 per week, no adults. They tend to be around my clean plates, I also pulled out my fridge and did not see anything, I do live in an apartment next to the garbage shoot, could there an infestation next door or do I have a really small hidden infestation?
One product that works really well is the gentrol IGR discs in combination with bait. I used Advion bait for a long time but then the roaches became resistant to it. Does anyone know if they become resistant to the IGR discs too?
Hey! I need advice. I live in a complex of apartments and I noticed a singular “teenage” German roach. I am a very clean person (although I don’t clean my stovetop daily). I have never seen these before in my whole life! Someone new moved in just after Christmas of 23. The roach was on my bathroom wall. There was a flood 7 months ago because of a fire in the building they hosed and I am on the first floor near the unit that was aflame. Pretty bad fire consider that entire unit was redone. THE NEXT DAY. Literally THE NEXT DAY. I wake up early, and see TWO even smaller roaches on the side of my fridge!!! I lose my mind at that point I had already left messages to everyone and their mom telling them this needs to be investigated but quadruple the number of calls after this! I found out these babies were heading towards my cereal and bread and oat I keep on top of my fridge! Although not dirty or messy I have minimal space to store my dry food so of course that was where they found themselves a feast. An exterminator came on left little globs of murderous globs all around my cabinets and the other units. HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS: How can I move when my lease is up in June and make SURE I don’t take them with me. (Can I bug bomb a uhaul?) And what are the chances of eradicating this infestation? Also can I keep roaches SPECIFICALLY out of my unit if my neighbors don’t do their part in keeping them gone? Since the treatment I have seen TWO adult German roaches that were moving slow. It seems they were coming from a 3inch by 9 inch space next to my stove that has been exposed with particle board since this water damage (I have no baseboards and exposed drywall on the bottom two inches all over I cannot control due to maintenance. Is the treatment working? I am a single mom with a 3 month old baby girl and I’m a college student. I have a very very bad fear of bugs and I am staying with family. I feel embarrassed and angery even though I Know this is not something I could have prepared for in a complex. Can I do anything myself to be proactive until June?
