    Another stunning result on another of my favourite aircraft - just beautiful. Like the Barracuda, I have also had a crack at this kit and, like the Barracuda, it didn't come out as lovely as yours...! Thanks for sharing and providing some more inspiration to stop watching TH-cam and actually do some model making!

    Fantastic - beautiful subject and great skills in making an excellent job of it - tried a vacform once and made interior bulkheads etc to stop it flexing - never thought of foam - ended up in the bin...

    You set the bar pretty high with this one. It’s a perfect storm of fantastic scratch building, great choices, an interesting subject, tricks I haven’t seen before and beautiful artistry. Jesus wept.

    An excelent model of possible the worst aircraft ever supplied to the navy although the pilots thought great in the air. A little history attached to the Scimitar. Any Scimitar displayed on the ground should realy have a least seven (7) large drip trays is it was a notorious leaker. It was also a pig of an aircraft to maintain, if you did a tour on a Scimitar squadron (12 hours on 12 hours off) then you could look after anything. For example to change one of it's Avon engines it would take the whole of one watch (12 hours) and at least seven maintainers just to get the top panels off as access to each lump. Why so difficult? A large number of panel screws would have to be drilled out. It is said that Lossimouth golf course never had to dig any bunkers just wait for a Scimitar to crash (you get three bunkers per aircraft) One airframe and one from each engine as they always detached. To the best of my knowledge the Scimitar was never equipped with Sidewinders, Bullpup air to ground missiles and these when they worked were mounted on the inboard pylons. Finally the surviving airframes were trasfered from Lossimouth to Brawdy one Friday (about thirteen aircraft) to be modified to have Harley lights fitted to the nose and then aircraft transfered to Airwork limited to be used on the FRADU contract. Come Monday morning 11 hangar at NASU was awash in jet fuel as the people that had put them to bed on Friday had no experiance of how much fuel one Scimitar could shed over-night let alone 13 over a wekend. Only two airframes were so modified, even the navy could not afford to pay Airwork to employ that number of people to look after them and the idea was scrubbed and the airframes scrapped at Brawdy.

      The model was based on a good colour photo sent to me by someone from the Britmodeller forum; the wings payload was based on that. Very interesting reading thank you.

    Brilliant job! I have the TSR-2 and this has made me decide to build it. Cheers.

    Nicely done. The designers in those days must have all gone to the same school. Reminds me of the Buccaneer.

    That is a great build! Not been near a vacform in many years- never got results like that.

    Hi Greg, I have just been going back through your older videos, and have to say you don’t disappoint on your build quality and painting. One quick question though, did you ever complete the wedge tail, as I can’t seem to find any vid on that.

    • @GregsModels
      @GregsModels  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I did a 5 or 6 part video build on it. I may re-vamp it and release it again along with some other video builds I unlisted. The thing that has stopped me is that I see too many mistakes in these builds, hence un-listing them. But it is a thought😎

    Excellent job, I’ve built 3 Dynovector kits. TSR2, Scimitar (mine pales to yours) and a Sea Vixen. Personally I thought describing them as kits was an understatement more an introduction to almost scratch building in my eyes. But love what you’ve done with this.
