I've read up on the rubber carrier deck idea and it's actually quite good. You won't need landing gear, just a hook, which saves on weight and allowes for a thinner wing. Recovery of aircraft would also take significantly less time, and you would be able to store more planes per carrier. There are two reasons it was scrapped: 1. It was too expensive to make it past the (successfull) prototype stage, and more importantly 2. Every military carrier and runway would need to have a "carpet" deck as it was called. Similarly to the first point, this would be impractical and expensive. Love the content, keep up the good work!
The Scimitar is by far the best 8.7 jet and nothing at its BR even comes close. The Avon 202 engine produces twice as much thrust compared to most other engines at its BR, and this jet comes with 2 of them. The closest contender to the Scimitar is the F-100, and that plane sits at 9.7. The Snail even blessed me with a talisman, which made the grind comically easy and helped me through the grind for the FG.1. I loved the Scimitar right from the start, and currently I have a 5.69 K/D with it.
I beg to differ. I've just unlocked it and it seems a whole league below the Swift F7, it's similar top speed to the swift, but it's far far less manoeuvrable to the point that you can't effectively dodge missiles like in the swift as you bleed speed really quickly and don't pull as many Gs. Sure the missiles are better and there are more guns, this is more than counteracted by just how sluggish the Scimitar is. Overall I'm disappointed with this machine. Maybe fully upgraded this thing gets better, however I doubt it as neither swift was as bad when stock.

The scimitar is one of those aircraft that is satisfying to fly but once you fly it enough and have the mind set down your untouchable with it being such a power house. Kinda like the EEL Great video btw!
I adore the Scimitar. I think I hold a 2/1 kd in it at all times. It's so damn powerful, like a lightning at 8.7 6min fuel, Aim9s, and climb straight up You can even energy trap Migs. The only thing that gives me trouble is the Mig19S. Plus Bullpups, imo better than the G91 due to it's insane speed to dodge AA.

This will be a topic of a video in the medium-term. I did most of my grinding through the prop tiers back when it was much faster. but I'm going to use the release of the Israeli tech tree as an opportunity to re-visit the topic.
Hope you do more content on the british rank V and VI jets because I rarely hear anyone talk about them. Believe it or not these reviews are actually somewhat helpful for figuring out matchups and such
I haven't heard anything (outside WT) to suggest that the rudder should be that bad irl. And just as an observation the rudder and vertical stabilizer don't look overly small or too close to the CG.
Ground RB with bull-pups is where it excels IMO. Pair it up with some Rooikats to reduce the spawn cost with spotting and I find it to be a very effective combo.
I mean I had this as my main ground attack aircraft until the jaguar It has 4 bullpups that work really well, 4 Aden cannons that annihilate everything, and a climb rate that can be used to out climb everything and easily get ready for another pass But I'd often gain too much altitude and lock my stabilizers Edit: checked my stats and I've had 202 battles using it so I'm pretty biased with it
So is it like an etendard that can't really turn? I consider grinding the British tree once I get the Frence F8 crusader and I consider myself to be a unicorn with the etendard, should I try and get this aircraft?
For my 5 cents - the Etendard does better in air matches (against ground targets) thanks in part to its air spawn. The scimitar is a runway fighter, so take that into account if deciding to grind towards it or not. Once you get the opportunity, I _strongly_ suggest some time in test flights to feel out the weak rudder to decide if you can live with it or not.
at 8.7 it clubs imo, i have over 3:1 k/d ratio in it, was aiming for 4/1 but i blew it while being, umm, not very sober :^)) all you have to do is play it like an interceptor, you're almost surely gonna outrun everything you're thrown against, except for a full uptier (i find mig-19 to be the biggest enemy of the scimitar). rudder is totally shit, its true, but if you miss, all you have to do is just keep on flying straight and then turn 180 degrees back to the battlefield and try again. you will want to use alot of keyboard inputs while aiming, especially ailerons to compensate for the lack of the rudder
30mm destroying pillboxes when shopping from above? more like shoot tanks from the side and pillboxes have weakspot in form of windows and doors. Hell pillboxes could be destroyed with enough mg rounds. When flying 57mm mosquito i destroyed more pillboxes with those 7,7 mm than with cannon until i got cannon upgrade
Love the scimitar. I put a talisman on mine, rush a base and kill it and then go for a climb then kills or return for more bombs. My mate loves it for bullpup cas in ground battles often returning for more weapons because it's just so fast.
In regards to the rudder: if you use the rudder trim, you can make it have a way higher deflection than you ever get just using it normally. I don’t know if this was a mistake or just laziness on gaijin’s part, but it exists I guess.

This was my go to jet when i wanted to just have fun back in the day when 9.7 was a BR wall and Hunter FGA9 was the fastest thing you could find there (spoiler.: This thing can beat the sh*t out of FGA9). Yes the rudder sucks but this thing can energy trap pretty much anything at its BR. Fun fact.. You CANT rip your wings to overspeed. You can just throw it down from the orbit at full power and nothing will hapen because drag of the plane will stop acceleration soon after it goes red. :D

5:28 thats why I only use it in ground battles. In air realistic I preferred the Swift F7, i used the F7 to grind both the Scimitar and the Harrier Gr.3. Forgot to mention: great video. I guess i considered that self-explanatory on this channel haha.
