I had a problem that my screen was loosing Power and the middle pin in the dc Jack was loose just like in the video, but i did not have do modify anything or replace anything. I just heated up in the middle of the dc jack at the curcuit board and added some soldering and then the pin was no longer loose and worked fine again after I put it together. So if you are lucky its a really easy fix!
    Nice video

That’s incredible, I was asked to fix the 24 inch model of this screen and it had exactly the same problem

This style jack can be used on battery operated devices too in which case the negative pole is disconnected when the adapter plug is inserted.

what would "blow" if you plugged in a power supply with way (way) too many volts?

That modification looks like its factory! Very nice!
I would have maybe taped up the old port so people dont try to plug stuff into there!

Great repair video! Think the extra screws are there to frustrate you enough to where you will just buy a replacement board! 😂🤣 Thats a rather nice HP monitor!

Whats the name of the part you replaced it with

The 'switch contacts' on some (but not all) DC jacks is in the 0V rail and is generally used where you have an alternative power connection which is 'disconnected' if the DC jack is inserted. I couldn't see an alternative power connection in your video but there may be one.

Yeah I know that happens ob battery/mains adapter powered equipment. In this case I just think they used the connector without using that feature. From what I could see. that other 'ground' pad doesn't connect to anywhere.
