This may be a really stupid question but how does one combat 'weak wooden door'? tried this and couldn't get past one, was pretty hilarious.
Hahah, well when you blood rush, you leave behind a corpse.. use that corpse to corpse lance the door :)

Anyway, tried this build and it's boring as fuck. I don't understand why the dev team insists on contradicting themselves so much. Builds like this (early Marauders too) are what they said they didn't want in the game.

I'm still using inarius bone storm build, and it's still good, maybe not the highest GR clearer, but that won't stop me from enjoying it.

It took me a bit to get used to this build. I see others are having trouble as well. This guide may help :)
This was my approach.
You can break the Bloodlancer gameplay down into 3 major skills:
1) Moving around
2) Herding critters
3) Finishing critters
These are explained below, but a good idea is do easy GRs, and just focus on each of these skills individually you get the hang of them.
1) You’re blood rushing around the map looking for a pack. What you are after are well placed, consistent blood rushes. When you blood rush, you are looking for a relatively safe destination that will pass through the most number of critters. You need to be constantly aware of where clusters of critters are. The better you are at this, the longer you will stay alive. And of course, decrepify everything! Do a couple of throw away GRs and just practise blood rushing around the map and staying alive. Don't even worry about killing anything yet until you've gotten the hang of this skill.
2) Often when you've found a pack, you'll have time left on your LoD/Sim cooldown. Or you've found more than one pack and want to kill them both with one pop of LoD. You need to be able to herd critters to where you want them. This skill builds on skill 1 as you will still need critter awareness, and well-placed blood rushes. Take an easy GR and practise herding critters into one mammoth cluster. Smack it with decrepify often. Also note - blood rushing through the cluster will usually heal you completely.
3) This is fairly straight forward. It's just a matter of positioning yourself away from your main targets (more damage the further away you are), popping LoD/Sim and spraying.

Been playing Necro Bone Storm for 2 seasons now, so decided to try Trag'oul Blood Storm. I am mightily impressed by the damage and survivability of this build..
I love the Necro but hate that pet builds seem to be at the bottom of the totem pole. Pet builds are kind of a Necro staple.
Eerbud I agree, I was really hoping for a viable pet build on necromancers given that's what they were all about in D2
Best pet build i seen also use Trag'Oul GR and is about spamming mages ..it can clear Gr90 for sure . but ya no where near this boring build, but pretty close to bonestorm after nerf/bugfix
UltraSuperDuperFreak does it use any other pets than mages? also it doesn't even use the pet set

It could be a boring build guys but remember that he makes a viable and strong builds, this build is obviously competetive and viable and has rank 1 potentional on the leaderboards solo...So he can't make only "fun" builds, but also very strong ones for the competetive players, no matter what playstyle it is...Nice build, works perfectly, thanks !

Love the Trag set. I haven't switched to doing corpse lance yet, still running Corpse explosion. It's entertaining when you can blow everything up like the old days.
The Necromancer builds should stop relying on Land of the Dead. It's literally just a worse Archon.
I like it for a failsafe but damn it's getting really annoying that every build has to have it.

Jeremy Crow I didn't mean it power wise. You get a meagre 5 second explosion of power with 120 second cooldown. Archon has like 20-90 atleast.
How does that make any sense? Because another class's ability is better, you shouldn't use it? LotD is the staple damage steroid of necro. You can't use archon as a necro. and not using it would be throwing away a big dps and survivability cd.

The original D2 Tra'gouls turns you into a "Vampire" monster if you have all the pieces. So it's fitting. Not only that, it doesn't fuck up your attack speed like the D2 version.
Read some Diablo books before saying what Nerco is/isn't all about.

I always hated "Assassin" Builds, I always hated when I had to chase someone who skips non-elites and teleport around the map from pack to pack. This isn't how Diablo should be played, I really hope Blizzard could do something about that.

Nope. The most boring build is Shamans pet build. All you do is right click to apply a mana spender while pets do all the work.
Totally agree I think i'm done with this necromancer class and go back to my wizard they are just making these armor sets not fun.. I admire anyone doing this build and getting GR +90 done but this just looks boring as hell

This is a pretty sweet build! In response to your Hardcore or not comment, I've built a hardcore Trag'Oul's using Funerary Pick and Iron Rose, proccing free Blood Novas. The player Blood Rushes from group to group, channels Siphon Blood for constant regeneration of any health lost, and gets free Blood Novas. It's a way to play Trag'Oul's without having to spend any life at all, and it's quite effective. Because it's Hardcore (and because my gear is far from perfect), I haven't braved higher than GR 55 as getting one-shotted can happen even with top-tier meta builds, and I'd rather farm GR 55 with ease than risk losing the character. BUT it's an effective way for Hardcore players to try out Trag'Oul's.

the gloves that boost corpse explosion & the blood corpse explosion works well with the set as well (and for HC, health globes = free blood skill charges + eating corpses creates health globes works decently for survivability)

Damn Rhykker, I had put my Trag'oul's set aside because the one I followed from IcyVeins didn't seem to do so well for me, but yours... yours is a power house and easy to use. I find I have to run around a lot waiting for those two 120 abilities, but if I can even get one Corpse Lance going, the fight is over. Thanks!
Is there any way to make a blood nova build work? It's the coolest, IMO, but nowhere near as powerful as my other builds.
I'm working on one right now, but it's also very LOTD dependent. It's a work in progress, but if you want I can try to keep you updated on what I come up with. I like theorycrafting, and Blood Nova is a ton of fun to me.
I have a blood nova build that is usable for T13 farming, but it just doesn't hold up with other set when it comes to pushing greater rifts.
yeah i got a fun blood nova build working with 30 billion crits, so it's fun for T13 farming. can't push grifts with it, though.

WTF! They nerf marinae! The damn thing has never had a use other then melting for caldessan upgrades. There was nothing wrong with Inarious, there has always been a problem with Marinae being under powered and under used so Blizzard's fix is to NERF it!!!!!
There are classes that can hit 100+ GR every season with little more skill then being able to mash your face into your keyboard and they decide to NERF one of only two via builds for the Necro class!
For what? So a small hand full of bloggers that have access to armies of worker bees that can get them to 1000+ paragon in the first couple days of the season can have fun with bloodmancer! A build that is about as fun to play as having your tonsils removed via you anus!

hey guys, keep posting in the comments about this build being really boring. Blizz featured rhykkers stream in the bnet client recently, soobviously they are aware of him, maybe if he agrees with us we could get it to them one way or another that this just sucks.
Rhykker's name, along with the name of many other Diablo 3 media personas, are in the game for random champion names, and he's had developers on his live streams. They've been aware of him for a while. It's still better to give feedback directly to Blizzard rather than hoping than see it in a content creator's comments. But you're not wrong in that feedback should absolutely be given!

Sup Rhykker, I've played the bloodmage + boneshield builds. I haven't tried this one yet. However, it looks very promising. As always thanks for taking the time to make the guide. Looking forward to this season and trying out this build with it. Especially with my luck in Trag's drop rate. I had a full set of Trag's drop even with some Ancients before the Ina's dropped lol
I dislike builds that ignore trash mobs... I want to kill everything... this makes for slow, boring gameplay

Agree. I tried this and the Bonestorm out so far, and I got really frustrated with this one. Having to watch where I click, and killing myself to open a door is not what I call fun.
Bonestorm isn't really optimal either, sort of like a caster-version of the wastes-barb, but at least I get to kill whatever I want. And I can open doors :P
If you want to kill everything try Rathma Singularity Mages! These guys destroy everything on the screen.

There is a poison armor set, PEt Armor set, and pet Weapon/Shield Set. It's there you just didn't bother looking for it.

I love the blood necro, but this wasnt at all what I was expecting from the build. I dont particarly enjoy just surviving between damage windows. Is there any way of running a blood necro that pushes into the 90s with a more active play style?
If you don't like the passive aspect replace the #3 skill with frost golem and have the gloves on or in chest that make your hole shed corpses. In addition instead of travelers there's a reckless that gives corpse lance a buff in dmg after land of dead. Other then those u can run everything the same and then not have to skip mobs and have more of a blood lord of ultimate death and kill everything you want. Its a little slower but then you don't need to elite farm.
Another build that relies on Convention of Elements? No thanks.

Endless Walk is pretty much mandatory for a shitload of builds as well.
I didn't completely believe you when you said this was better than the Bone Storm build nowadays, but the math adds up. I have to agree with some of the other commenters that the play style for this build seems a lot less involved than many others, but I suppose this also depends on the way you like to play the game and what you are working toward (ie. Farming for mats in order to improve your already impressive gear, as opposed to really struggling through waves of mobs).

I find it funny how people consider this build to be boring because it's an elite hunter, yet everyone loves the Demon Hunter's Shadow Impale build, when it also revolves around CoE, Cooldown reduction, and spamming one attack. I personally love this build quite a bit.
I really wish this weren't shaping up to be the go-to build. I love the Trag'oul (why isn't it Trang'oul, btw? There's an n in D2) set conceptually, but this playstyle is A) Boring to me B) Way too reliant on massive cooldowns. It reminds me far too much of Crusader release, being deadweight while you wait on your cooldowns.
I really wanted Trag's to work with something like Blood Nova, but the life cost of spamming that is totally not worthwhile. Blah.

In the beta Trag'ouls 6 piece made it so health cost abilites gave you an infinitely stacking buff that increased your damage and healing but your health costs also increased. Using healing abilites lowered the stacks. I was running it with blood nova and would build up stacks until I was basically killing myself with a blood nova then use healing skills and alternate to keep it at a good stack number. It was a lot more fun than this static buff they changed it to.
They rename it in the Sin War novel which released after D2.
Ya know there is an item that grants up to a fifty percent chance to cast a free blood nova while using Siphon Blood? It's amazing as ever! Get it, cube it, and wade into the blood, pun intended
If they are clearing 115's and you can't, why disparage the build? I just wan't a clearer video, slowed down enough that I can see what's going on.

Sorry, Rhykker, but a build so passive and dependent from one skill is a kind of lazy and not fun at all. Really tryed a lot with it, and i couldn't play more than 3 GR b4 loose interest in it... It maybe top dmg intended, but isn't fun at all. Just wait a little more and they will nerf Land of the dead soon...
Remember when people said that about Archon? :D I get your point though, I'm upset most (if not all) corpse builds 'require' that skill and then without it being the top pushing build Bonestorm gets a nerf. :(
you can get basically 95% uptime on archon with the right setup. this is a 60 seconds wait time until magic happens.
I still use the Bonestorm build, it's really fun to use and despite the nerf (and my not optimized set) i'm still able to go to 85GR, i'm looking forward to optimize the build, maybe changing some runes on the spells, but definetly my pref build so far. Great job as always Rhykker :)

well, that is the difference between people who play for fun, and people who play to be at the top of the leaderboards. I plan on going necro, and i'm sure when i feel like pushing rifts i'll use whatever is the "best" build no matter how boring it is, but i look more forward to the minion builds from the starter set.

Only person to get 113 solo is wizard, necromancer highest is 103 with 5000 paragon and full augments. No idea why he's putting 113+
He says "I've seen it do 113" but there's literally no clears above 103 recorded

This is a really fun build. I tried it out last night and it works great at murdering elites. This and the Rathma pet build are good. This definitely has the better potential of clearing GRs faster than Rathma. It's also easier to play and has better survivability than the lightning archon which is nice too.
As usual, people complaining are the loudest. I think the build is somewhat more interesting than the bone storm build, even though the bone storm build used the Mirinae. The thing that bugs me is that every good necro build revolves completely around Land of the Dead, it's so damn stupid.
Totally agree with you. I loathe LotD, I think it is a ridiculously stupid skill with little going for it. 10 second skill with a 2 min CD? great, I can use all my other skills free of cost, but damn, what other skills would I want to use period, and could I spam them that fast? I don't know, and no, respectively. Honestly, I much prefer a meat shield (minion) build with corpse explosion and maybe bone lance. Boost the hell out of Bone Spikes + Path of Bones (which can hit through walls, btw) and just spam that along with minions.. never use any essence ever unless you actively command skeletons, and with how much you do from primary you get it back almost instantly. Add Frailty curse and the passive that makes it last forever.. *shrugs* I know it may not be the strongest build out there, but it is incredibly simple and easy to use, works great with Inarius's set (probably with some others, but haven't played around with that much), and it's fairly enjoyable. Plus, it uses what distinguishes the Necro from the WD: The ability to summon skeletons. Which, in my mind, is what a true necromancer is. Not a blood Vampire, not someone who makes the land around them dead (though that can be an incidental side effect) but someone who animates the dead and uses them for combat purposes.

IKR! I'm thinking about how could I replace Mirinae on inarius
honestly, if you like constant action, you can change blood rush for blood mages, and cube the mages drop corpses shoulders, you will have an unlimited amount of health and you can constantly cast corpse lance if you don't need the health. in other words you can spam blood mages and devour at the same exact time and live forever basically, while they are doing increased damage from tragoul's set. it's op as hell and i recommend using jesseth and removing simalicrum in exchange for frozen command skeletons, instead of the mh/oh you suggested. you can tear down a high reater rift with ease, no need to jump from pack to pack.
You didnt exactly show us how to use it, not one of your best guides imo. This may be the top pushing build but I greatly preferred Inarius, sad to see it go downhill.
he did .. find elite ... try pull em together other elites .. pop you two big spenders ..kill elites .. move around until cool down is off .. rinse and repeat ... he pretty much explaned how word for word . Plus you saw him kill several elites in the video running. Geh :P

I think this build is one of the most, if not the most, complicated and deadly build. Thanks for the guild really. At the moment, the bone storm build allows me to comfortably sweep through maps, so I'll stick to it till I'm ready to learn more :D

The following is maybe a little dark humor but it was the best laugh I had in Diablo in quite a while:
I was joking around with a buddy on some 70-80ish rifts with this build last week, he played Witchdoctor and killed all the small stuff while I took care of the packs. At some part I had my stuff on cooldown and there were two packs so I sat there "Make corpses for me, make corpses for me!" and he did the most savage response ever: "I love how you talk about abortion"
We literally sat there 5 Minutes doing nothing but laughing

I found that grouping the packs together also helps with "trash clear" because if my area damage procs it 1 shots them so grouping shit up is solid

Thanks for all the videos Rhykker! I have spend so much time since coming back to the game this past March. I absolutely love the Necro, and it sounds like I missed to the golden time with the class being OP last year. I have been running the Inarius build and definitely ran into a wall pretty quick at about 50. Though I am still very low with paragon, 250, so I am sure that will help as I get that built up. I am currently working on getting the pieces for the Trag build here and have all but 2 pieces left and need to get the belt and a couple other pieces to extract their legendary out of it.
What is the best method of getting the complete ideal stats on the set pieces? Re-rolling one of the stats to get close to it? Or using Kanai's cube to change the set piece around? Or just keep looking to get more pieces to drop?

Hey @Rhykker, I'm reading up on the Necro and thinking of trying out in Season 12. Looking at this build, there seems to be a lot of synergy with items for the Grim Scythe ability - yet it isn't taken in the build? Am I missing something here? Or is there literally no better items for those slots? Thanks.
People find it boring? It feels pretty damned awesome to just instantly pump out all the damage at once.
SangoProductions213 except with console players this build nearly impossible to play with consistently cause all the trash mobs are in the way when u try to target elites kinda frustrating to try execute while your buff is going down.

With the Trag'Oul build I put together, I basically turned into a blood mage. Also got some tweaks that allow me to do 400% damage to cursed enemies; my scythe curses with every hit and permanently. This character is overall just ridiculous.

Man, Rhykker, you keep amazing me with the info on these vids. I'm a bit older player and not that good but i'm loving the Necromancer. My problem with playing is that i'm not that good in strict use of abilities when you need to that makes me wonder if i can play this build well. At the moment i do corpsexplosion with Inarius set but not sure how high i can get with that one. I do have most of the sidegear you are mentioning. Got any tips...maybe pestilience etc ? To make the playstyle more fun, use the variation with johnstone moribund gauntlets and flesh golem instead of simulacrum endless walk. Constant corpses and it will give you more flexibility. Have seen this build clear around the same GR level as simulacrum but it really depends on the paragon level of the player

Trag pet set with jesseth set works amazing with the skeletal mages (trag 6 set bonus)

I noticed a huuuge problem with this build - doors that need to be broken in order to get through them - either spend your precious cooldowns just to destroy a door or hope that monsters will eventually do that...
Bought the Necromancer pack, very fun to play, I am also gonna try this build!

yasser najjar I will try this build to push as high as possible because that is what I am aiming for, for farming/speedruns I will just switch in my armory to another setup.
Did this exact same thing with the DH. Impale build for pushing GRs, UE Multishot for everything else.
I think this Necro build will fit in.
butshadow DH ROCKS... and it is veryyyyyyyyyyyyyy funny. trang necro is like playimg mario ....i want to play necro and destroy every thing including my own room.... jumping like ping pong ball is not what i want. again blizzard amaze players with the lvl of incompetence and lack of creativity, and beside all that they scam alot of ppl selling a necro which already was planed to nerf.

Rhykker!!! Im collecting this gear in seasonal to attempt this build.... I am wondering if the build will fall apart if i dont get the items with the as an ancient set or if the gems arent perfect or if i dont have all of kanai's abilities all set. Will the quality of items destroy this kind of build

The title made me think this was about a build focused on Army of the Dead with the Dead Storm rune.
I kinda like elite hunting sets ,Shadow's mantle probably being my favorite set out of all the classes.I dunno how to feel about the huge cd's on the blood set tough ,the fun in the dh set was that it felt smooth as butter.The only big cd being Veageance and even then the problem's solved with minimal cd reduction investment + dawn cubed.Now that I think of it ,I kinda want to play a dh more and more in the new season even tough I bought the necro pack :))).
