The point of the cat is to have fun and stop asking questions.
It's a dig at the fans that overanalyze the show
I think the point of this episode is exactly as the cat says - just enjoy it and don't ask so many questions. Like at the end, we're wondering about the cat and where it came from and what they saw in the goggles, but I don't think they're ever going to reveal that. Just enjoy the cat.

This reminds me of the cats from the first episode of the second season.
But that wasnt the reason why i didnt like it. I didnt like it because the humor wasnt for me. It was too sexual in a disgusting way
That was just the point of the cat, not of the whole episode. At this layer of meaning, there were two extremes shown: not overthinking things to the point of not giving any answers to most pressing questions and the second one: overthinking things, trying to make fantasy to work realistically with a risk of destroying the suspension of disbelief by potential silliness that may ensue.
Another layer was about different types of relationships and religion.
The thing with the cat is it's a "meta-joke" making fun of the audience, specifically the fans that overanalyze every aspect of the show and try to find some hidden deeper meaning in things. It's a jab at those fans vs the types of fans that say the show should just be enjoyed as it is without worrying about hidden sub plots. It's not supposed to make sense, and that's the joke.

There is a Theory about what Rick saw in the Cats memorys, that it could be a reference to the movie "Event Horizon" and the Hell Dimension, where you hear very similar sounds

This is one of my favorite episodes of the show. Absolutely love it, Morty's repeated attempts to have a fun D &D adventure that keep going wrong (Rick doesn't want them to succeed) will never get old for me.

This episode is obviously super weird, and then there's the whole cat thing (let's not even get started), a lot of people didn't really like this episode when it came out but......
I friggin loved it. I totally grant how weird it is but there are so many hilarious lines

i think the thing Rick saw is a meta-joke, what he saw is something that the writers didn't even bother thinking on, just imagine that it was the most fucked up thing,

the first episode is what i meant about having a strong stomach, that one is a spaguetti in the season buffet, toilet one is parody of the old man and the sea, a fisherman that tries so hard to catch a giant fish end up releasing it because he saw himself in the fish as equals
we know that rick usually doesn't care when people judge him, but this time he cared that he lost someone that was nice to him as tony reminds rick that although he is immortal with infinite clones, he will someday bite the dust and lose everything if he keep going the road he goes now, also that rick has the power of a god that can make a shitting paradise and take people to heaven, those that are in the matrix cocoons are the ones rick had mercy on even he don't want to admit it
is really sad that rick turned himself into a tamed lion that can no longer hunt whenever he wants but as i told you how the family got better with rick's intervention, he can learn from wasp rick that empathy isn't so bad, he put his toxic self in its place to survive dangerous situations but is also killing him inside out, the producers know he is a terrible role model and are taking him in this phase of autocritisism because they cant rely on him being a lovable asshole so much, they don't want the fans to use rick as an excuse for pickle ree
also rick has no choice but to do what morty and beth say because he don't want morty to go evil rogue and betray him again, as if you remember when jerry and beth found rick's alien prisoner, she said that she wont risk the welfare of the family because she is afraid of losing him, that house is rick's prison, beth is the warden and morty is the guard
speaking of which, when will morty learn that his lust ruins everything? and to have balls to ask jessica out without rick's stuff? he already mutated a version of earth, got a monster alien son, was going to let rick's mind die in tiny rick and jessica hated happy detox himself, he had the chance to be naked with jessica and he blew it, she wasn't his wife, she was a nurse in the hospital he dies in
This whole thing was weird yet awesome
You probably noticed that Matthew Broderick was the voice of the cat. Upon taking a quick look at the guest cast I noticed that Tom Kenney was in this as well (ShadowJacker). Tom is better known as the voice of Spongebob.

also the thing with evil garfield is a critique of other cartoons and 90s movies where there is a talking animal and noone questions their origin, like scooby doo too
I can watch this episode and laugh my ass off. People watch a couple video essays on TH-cam about how bad this episode is and then just repeat everything they hear. People who can’t stop crying about this episode are apart of the toxic RnM fandom

This is the rick and morty I expect the series to be about. The crazy adventure that they and the family get into. The imagination of the creators is so funny. The evil morty stuff is just a side dish for me and honestly don’t get the crazy cult mentality behind those fans. I appreciate the characters development but not the need for some big bad villain.

My theory: The cat is from the future. Specifically, the final episode of the show, where the multiverse is collapsing because there will be no more episodes made (explains all the death and destruction Rick and Jerry see in the cat's memory). Rick (or maybe someone else, since Rick despises time travel shtick) gave the cat the power of sentience and telepathic speech and sent it into the past to change history and save the show.
But the cat is still a cat and cares more about having fun than about anything else. Still, along with sentience, there comes a little thing called conscience, which is only enough of a bother to the cat to just make it ashamed for not sticking to its mission.
Jerry's statement about his parents' photos in his room? His parents, knowing that their son isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, probably thought he'd never get married and give them grandchildren. They were thrilled when they saw that the Smith line has continued for another generation. But until Rick mind-blew it from his head, Jerry knew the awful truth that ultimately there is no future for anyone. Which he knows would destroy his parents if they found out.
But now, Rick knows. And for an instant, he saw his own continued existence as pointless. Then he realized the fate of the whole show now rests in the hands of the only man smart enough to be able to do anything about it.

rick should've had autopilot or sleepy dart gun instead of gas, this sets of rick being like a dragon, all powerful, destructive, misunderstood and greedy of experiences, morty was right when he said that rick doesn't want anyone else to be happy
this episode was made before GOT jumped the shark, considering rule 34, anything can be turned into porn, specially mocking the fantasy genre fans that sexualize that, morty wanted how to train your dragon and he got ronal de barbarian, ronal is a good movie to check out
also that rick's tech is so powerful, complicated and advanced that is practically magic at this point, instead of wanting a pet dragon, morty should've order rick to reprogram the nanobots that turn him into a car so he can also turn into a dragon, like american dragon jake long
perhaps evil garfield did something sexual as he wants to stay in florida, a place known for their swamps, theme parks, parties for young people and resting place for old people, jerry said he did the thing in his parents' house, a baby is heard in the background and rick didn't killed him so is not something with violence, if we consider the title is parody of law and order
