    Wow! Thank you. Now I have a potential use for the Copper Sulfate crystals I purchased, beyond just admiring its beauty in a sealed glass jar. I bought large copper sulfate crystals, but i'm sure there is some little granules i could use, or just buy some that is sold as pipe root-killer from a store.

    There are three basic types of stainless steel. Ferritic, martensitic, and austenitic. Most ferritic stainless is magnetic and some martensitic are also. Only austenitic is primarily non magnetic. Ferritic and martensitic usually have three digit designations starting with a 4 like 430 or 410. Austenitic normally starts with a 3 like 304 or 316. Technically you can use anyone of these types or grades and call it stainless steel but the best is austenitic.

    ferritic stainless steels are generally magnetic while austenitic stainless steels usually are not. A ferritic stainless steel owes its magnetism to two factors: its high concentration of iron and its fundamental structure.

    Plenty of stainless steel is magnetic. Most kitchen knives are. I keep all mine on a magnetic rack.

    • @MrPir84free
      @MrPir84free 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use stainless steel pins for reloading... Believe it or not, they are magnetic and depend upon that property to sort them out from the brass... And they sometimes rust as well... The pins just don't rust as quickly as steel does..

    • @MrPir84free
      @MrPir84free 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And I should also say that I used to have a stainless steel refrigerator; never found a magnet that would stick to it. Non-magnetic as far as I could tell. ..

    • @rileyfenley522
      @rileyfenley522 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are all over 150 series of stainless steel and 4 different families, with varying levels of corrosion resistance and strengths. Stainless steel is a steel alloy with a minimum of 10.5% chromium by mass. Martensitic stainless steel family definitely is magnetic and more prone to corrosion and pitting, but is strong & tough but contains up to 1% carbon. For very good corrosion resistance you want austenitic stainless steel, high chromium (min 16%), nickel content, and low carbon (max 0.15%). This is the family 304 ss is in. Just like most things you get what you pay for.

    • @irlrp
      @irlrp 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most stainless steel is magnetic. Heck, steel is mostly made of Iron, which is magnetic...

    • @rileyfenley522
      @rileyfenley522 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      irlrp Its a myth that all stainless is non magnetic. Whether stainless steel is magnetic or not is based on its family which is based on its alloy contents which affect its atomic structure. Ferritic, Martensitic, and duplex stainless steels are magnetic. The most common type of stainless (~70%) is Austenitic and is virtually non magnetic, so non-magnetic it is used in MRI machines.

    3:45 That's false. Force applied is equal to force transferred. The spring will flex the tension tool in the middle, but you're just loading the spring.

    • @JasperJanssen

      Taylor James ya you load the spring and the force isn’t transferred directly to the lock.

    About the play in the tips on the spinner, when the camera focused on the x shape receiver for the bits, one looked "thicker" than the other. Is it cut to two different sizes?

    • @georgelangrick7384
      @georgelangrick7384 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good spot and you're right, I have 2 of these plug spinners, (ordered 1 through Bangood but ended up paying for and receiving 2) - there is no play at all with any of the bits, he must have had that one the wrong way around - the one that is the same width throughout but different thickness at either end... These spinners are very strong and are well made and also great value. The only down side would possibly be the size of the gun, not the smallest of plug spinners but then you are getting the benefits of a more powerful spring.

    Almost all stainless steel is at least slightly magnetic. Being magnetic or not is a very bad test of whether something is stainless steel or not. Being magnetic has nothing to with whether something is truly stainless or not. The reason is that any ferrous based metal is magnetic and even the stainless steels manufactured with very, very light magnetic properties can be become mildly or strongly magnetic during the cutting, bending, heating and cooling and other forming processes. Just bending or the impact from stamping, which is probably how those picks were made, can cause the atoms in the metal to realign so that the metal becomes magnetic.

    this automatic rotation was disappointing for me because the body is made of a fragile material because when working together mechanically the spring exerts a lot of pressure under the fixed points of the locking pins so the durability is low due to the force concentrated on these pins that break the ring brass that supports the spring

    • @frequencydecline5250

      You pick them of course

    • @inthruthewindow3265
      @inthruthewindow3265 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The spinner is used if you've picked the lock in the wrong direction and you now want to turn the lock the opposite way. It therefore saves you needing to re-pick the lock. By spinning the core really fast, the pins go past the shear line before they have a chance to drop. Also, as Bill said when he started to pick that padlock, some locks are difficult to pick when tensioning in one direction, but can be picked easier in the opposite direction. You could then pick the lock in the easy (wrong) direction, and then "spin" it back.

      Dave H the way I have seen plug Spinners work as you pick a lock normally turn it just a little bit and then use the plug spinner To rapidly turn it to avoid any traps

    • @WineScrounger
      @WineScrounger 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn’t really pick the lock. It’s for when you can only pick a lock the wrong way to open it. It spins the core round so fast that the driver pins don’t have time to drop past the shear line, and as if by magic your lock is picked the right way. Like Bill said, it gives you options. Very real options.

    Great review man! I ordered the kit based on this review and locknoob’s review but got screwed by banggood. They sent me essentially a nylon ziplock bag with no proper way to sto the picks. So everything is just jumbling inside a bag. Contacted their customer service, let’s see what they do.
