Y EDP was built on the backbone of the recent trend of "amber wood" which was made popular with the releases of Invictus Aqua, Bleu de Chanel, Azzaro Wanted among others. Sadly I loved the apple and ginger opening of this one and that was it. Another one piggy backing on trends.

Out of my 60+ fragrance collection, it’s one of my favorite people pleasers. One of the absolute best. With great performance. Usually the scent lingers on my shirt for over 24hrs
I know you don't like these blue fragrances but I find this one and Dylan Blue have more depth than the others

It'll be my daytime fragrance during allstar weekend. If it get compliments I'm spraying it.

Hi Marc....I did buy this after using a decant ..
Like you say the opening is excellent to this juice but it dries down to a typical blue bottle fragrance...on my skin I get like 6-8 hrs.
With good projection for first couple of hours..
It then sits closer to the skin but it's more than a skin scent..
I got wiffs for about 4 -5 hours then it sat closer for last couple of hours..
I have Sauvage and it is similar but not exactly same...worth a purchase IMO...thanks for the review Marc..atb Lee

I've had this for just over a week and have recieved 4 compliments so far. Savauge is a step up but I'm happy with my purchase. Women's opinions is what I care about not men's. But I do respect your take and opinion also.

I know blue fragrances play the position but this one has unique flair to me with that sage.. and has above avg performance. And YSL is like never really discounted, I know this is all subjective but idk if I trust your findings on this one lol
Joseph Harris I was curious about that observation too. YSL is hard to find at a steal (or at all) on most discounter sites. Idk why since YSL performance is never great. Feel like they're still riding La Nuit (early formulations) performance's coat tails.
Y EDP to me is a great cologne except for one thing. I lost projection about 2-3 hours in and performance at about 4-5 hours. Because of that, I consider this to be a pleasant one for nighttime events where you don't need it to last 8+hrs. Women love this one!
2yrs later still hasn't hit discounters with major difference from retail. 🤷

I really like this one, but take it for what it is, a crowd pleaser. YSL wanted to create a mass appealing seller, and they did.
But I also like Robes and appreciate his honesty. Well done Marc.

Still $100 at discounters for 100ml - I really like this "blue" fragrance. I do agree, though, same genre as Bleu.

Y is extremely extremely well blended. Prefer it to bdc, sauvage, coach and all the other he mentions. Combines good sides of Invictus, Ldissey and Dylan Blue but makes it more sophisticated. Longevity is only ok.

With this review,you are way off! It's now 2022 and I love this scent so much that I bought a 6.7oz bottle and it's not discontinued yet,LOL!
When Y edt was first released and a Bloomingdales lady sprayed it on my hand against my will, it was a nightmare. It was hurting my nose. It's more than I don't like it. I hate it. Going to stay away from this line.

Eventually, it will be. Invictus is still kicking around too, does not mean it's any good.

Got A sample last week and it's like you said, piggybaggin on sauvage! But sauvage is 100 Times better! I hate that cheap ambroxan smell of Y ! YSL please go back to stuff like rive gauche and Jazz !

Y is one of the worst fragrance series from a prominent design house in recent years. A cheap synthetic chemical mess.
Between lousy fragrances & terrible reformulations, Sadly, YSL has become a shell of its former self. Just another name brand throwing out cheap generic crap and hoping something sticks.
Welcome to the designer game, sadly.
It’s simply the modern style of masculine scents. Used to be green/spicy, then 2000s citrus/aquatics, now it’s a stronger sweeter style that is in 2010s. Maybe next trend will be pepper.. we’ll see!
Just buy the good ol YSL L’Homme. Even better apple ginger notes.
