I never bought a full bottle of this and don't see it as justified for the price, my advice to people is to sample it and if they like it but don't like the price (like me), buy a clone. Since, as you predicted, they indeed do an around 95%+ accuracy job on cloning this for about 35-65 euro. You can't reasonable hate on someone for having the preferences they have, if you don't like Ambroxan, then yes, this fragrance won't be for you, fair review imo.👍🏻
I sort of love this one for the summer but not the price. The clones are so close in quality that it’s silly to buy this. This structure essentially turned into the entire lighter line for Louis Vuitton. But that sweet grapefruit note is so gorgeous that it made me look at clones, something I never do. You can get this exact profile for 10% of the cost.
I'm so glad I didn't buy it either. Marc will you sample Bleu Parfum? I know you hate that style of scent but I think that one is nice. Also you need to catch Sebastián Animalic scents list. It's a crazy list
Everyone says Bvlgari Tyger has a very realistic grapefruit but i'm so glad you smelled what I smelled. When I think grapefruit, I think tart and bitter but Tyger has a more linear sweetness with woods and ambroxan on me. Great in-depth review as always 👍
Great honest review! I didn't want to buy it for that price, but since I love grapefruit in fragrances, I thought about getting a decant. Since it's not even a natural grapefruit, I'll pass on that one.

Afternoon Swim seems to be another riff on this. neither smell bad but on the synthetic side for a citrus. as someone who enjoys ambroxan when it's well judged this isn't it, you'd be better off with Aventus. there's also a new Lacoste Blanc Eau Intense which does the fizzy-orange-ambroxan thing in a much more pleasing way while not costing $300.
Tygar is admittedly a guilty pleasure of mine because when I wore a sample of it a girl I had a big crush on thought it smelled amazing, so I immediately went out and found a bottle on eBay for a great price. Makes me think of her when I wear it 🤷🏻♂️ It’s a people pleaser for sure, but that’s about it
I guess having girls like things is useful once and awhile but generally they have pretty bad taste. They like sweet, basic things most of the time unless they're into the hobby or are cool and have refined taste.
I wonder if they reformulated this one because mine doesn’t last longer than about 4-5 hours. But I think most people that buy this fragrance know that it’s a glorified designer fragrance in a niche level presentation. I have no issue with that and knew what I was getting into. To me, Tygar reminds me of D&G light blue eau intense with a bit of ginger added, way overpriced. And you are totally right, there are some good clones out there Arabiyat Prestige Aariz is a great one also with better quality and just as classy bottle. I have been very confused about what it is that people seem to like here. I knew that you wouldn't love this like most reviewers did. The 300+ finished this for me. This sounds exactly like I thought it would be. The only fragrance from the high end Bvlgari line that intrigues me at all is Onekh. I think the whole premium line is going to struggle to compete with niche brands priced at 1/3rd the cost on discounters though.
One of the first times I've ever heard you say, "Get the clones." That says a lot. And guess what? I GOT ONE OF THE CLONES, LOL...from Alexandria labeled "Black Panther." But at any rate, yeah, I looked at the price of this and said, "Yeah, how about no" and then saw that it was very ambrox heavy and musky, which the Alexandria clone is EXACTLY like, too...and I like it for what it is worth, but not for that price. I kind of figured you wouldn't be into it given the complexity of fragrances that you've tried. Would be interested in your takes of BDK's Gris Charnel Extrait or Unique'e Luxury's Mashumaro if you ever get the opportunity to try those. Mashumaro is a recent love of mine as a marshmallow scent of all things. 😊
Nailed it Marc, it's nothing special at all. I got a travel set (30ml Tygar and skincare products) available from certain Airlines when i acquired mine. I'm not big into freshies as you know, and while it's ok.. it's so not worth any big money. If the 100ml was say £80 or $100 it would've been an OK release to those that like freshies, but to me it just smells so basic! Give me Davidoff Horizon over this anyday of the week. Everyone has been keen to like the Le Gemme line but unfortunately they all have limited appeal so Tygar just got plucked out because its the closest to being versatile

I bought a well rated clone for cheap and found it pleasant but not impressive. The Ambroxan is a bit milder in the clone so its wearable but still kinda boring.
Marc, I agree 100% with your take on Tygar by Bvlgari . I am not sure why people would spend $400.00 for the fragrance. The scent does not justify the price.
Love Cavallier, but never really got the hype on Tygar. A bit too sweet, 'juicy' + one dimensional for my taste. Absurd price point for what youre getting, especially because Cavallier's own LV L'immensite contains greater depth and renders Tygar redundant. For the Le Gemme line, i much preferred Kobraa. Many of the other offerings just not quite it for me.
I agree with you completely. Wouldn’t pay more than $50 for this. Anything with heavy ambroxan loses credibility to me and automatically falls into the Beginner category for me.
@@kez850 black panther by Alexandria is fantastic. Turathi Blue is close with a middle eastern twist. Similar is Junoon Oud. All are great and like $40 or less. It’s such a simple scent that copying it is easy. Arrakis Spirit of Kings is a more niche option you can get for $100-120 and I find it more complex than the clones but the clones will give you more than you want, I’d bet!

If you stick your nose in it then yeah it's nothing special but if you wear it and smell it in the air it comes across as unique and very expensive smelling, same as when others smell it on you, and no there's no cheap clone that does the same thing.

I'll probably give them another chance at some point. Right now, I'm mad at Bvlgari so no bueno.

Black pepper? Sandalwood? Vetiver? Patchouli? Ambrette seed? I get none of that. Unfortunately anosmic to ambroxan.
trust me, I was having issues trying to pull together a review, once that ambrox came in it was tough.

The whole collection has names based on gemstones.
