- Appearing in Playboy magazine can jumpstart a career in entertainment. But sometimes a Playboy spread can be something a model or actor does after already becoming famous. Whether it's an intentional publicity stunt, a reclaiming of one's voice in a sort of empowerment move, or even a situation where old photos are bought and published, lots of celebrities have appeared in the magazine over the years.
It's pretty well known that Marilyn Monroe appeared in the first issue of Playboy in 1953, but there are plenty more stars who graced the mag's pages to name. These are celebs you didn't know posed for Playboy.

Cindy Crawford was on the cover of Playboy in July of 1988 and again in October of 1998 ... not July and October of the same year.
That cover photo of Madonna wasn't shot for the magazine. It was a publicity still for "Desperately Seeking Susan."

My hubby worked at Hooters for a while in the mid to late 90s and one of the girls he worked with was in Playboy. I say if you want to show what ya got do it! I have to much to share like that so y'all do your thing!

Some of these woman needed work in their industry, regardless of how they felt about the actual company. In the 70s, 80s and 90s Playboy was THE magazine to be in besides Vogue if you wanted to make a name for yourself. It was unsavory but it was work, and noticeable work.

I Agree, we are only Young, or in Our prime once in Our lives. Whether it was PlayBoy, Penthouse, Hustler, or an of the other Mags? Only God knows there were so many other Adult Magazines, over the last, oh 100 years. My point ☝️🤔 is they provided a Stage, or Platform, which the Artists, could present, & admire the Human Body on.
IT seems so Sad to think that our Society, has Always frowned on the idea of Women & Men, Modeling, or Displaying the Pure Bueaty of the Human Form too other's? So they could be admired, gazed at, & just plain be Congratulated, for having a Bueatiful, or Say God Like Form.
Through the Annuals of Time, it seems every Culture? Has tried to find the best way to Celebrate, or Honour the Bueaty of the World n it's Creatures!! Which obviously We Humans, are one of Those creatures.
I personally found my Dad's Adult Magazines, when I was about Eleven years old. At that time, I didn't give Two shits about the Broads nudity.

To wrap this up! I still recall the First time Miss Cheryl Teague's, was semi uncovered on the Cover of Sports illustrated's, Swim Suit Addition.
After that, yeah 👍👍 I sought out the Pin Up Magazines, just as any other normal Male did.
Getting back to your Topic about the Celebrities, who Have unclothed for the Say, Sake of Art, or Self praise, and anything else, they may use as reasonings for doing it. The only standout actress that stood out and posed nude was Sheila War, I still have all my Playboys going back to the '80 until Hef's idiot sone took over and changed the format of non-nude. I loved the writers that published stories, but I didn't bother with the articles about what the men should dree like, and what products to buy. I mean really> It's a nude magazine know one gives a damn about products and a lifestyle they can't afford. The price for a subscription was cheap, so what genius thought using it to sell a wealthy man's lifestyle was going to work. After the change the magazine profits tanked and that's the only reason for them going back to full-on nude. Hell, they had tame content compared to Penthouse and Hustler.

Monroe did NOT pose for Playboy. Some jerk took pic's of a teenage Monroe and Hef found out the pic's were out there. He paid $500 for the pic's and Monroe was horrified.

The thumbnail pic is a man, huge male dental arch, females have smaller mouths compared to males. 6 teeth are visible per side, that's a huge mouth.
Hugh Hef' was the best, he made it easy and kept it decent for birthers going by "celebrity". He actually added to their reputation by offering nude foto stories in his magazine. Might have derived from the fact that we dared calling birthers "women" back in Hugh's days ....
