    Palmerston North, a small town with big town pretensions. I used to live there. If you are going to visit or stay in PN, then I can recommend The Esplanade, one of its gems. Especially in summer. It has a reasonable cafe there. It has a bird rescue facility that you can go into and tour, with attendants educating you on what they do. There is a bush remnant where you can go to listen to some native bird calls. If in summer it's shady and has lots of shady places to sit and soak up the atmosphere. There's a rose garden. I could go on. It is a student city, so it's pretty dead in summer, but comes to life in winter. Though I like the quieter summer periods. My biggest complaint about the place are the summers are so hot and humid, but a trip to the Esplanade will fix that. You're right rents aren't huge like they are in Wellington, though I do love Wellington.

      Robin worked and travelers in Canada and generally find New Zealand slightly more expensive than Canada. With that said, transportation ends up being much much cheaper as the distances are incredibly shorter. All and all it evens out.

      BackpackerGuide.NZ but i dont understand why the transportation cost in newzaeland too too too expensive....gas, cars,.... price. It make me don’t want to live there. Do you have any ideas?

    • @NZPocketGuide
      @NZPocketGuide  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We are not economic experts so explaining you why the prices are what they are is not really our area of expertise. I think that it all start from living on an island rather isolated from the rest of the world increases costs but for more info you might want to do a bit of reading on the economic state of New Zealand.
