I think you've not gotten out of your neighborhood yet. I've seen many urdu speaking families marrying their 15 16 years old daughters to 25+ man, and 30 + ( if the man is well established. ) that too in karachi. So, yes, its happening in villages as well as in metropolitan cities as well.

I somewhat agree with Junaid but that the problem is not with girl age, if a girl in age 14-15 knows all her duties, rights and responsibilities by the right teachings and upbringing of her parents and her parents fully support her right to divorce if she doesn't want to live with him. Then what's the problem? The problem is people abuse this age limit as young girls are easy to manipulate and control. People don't prefer religiosity in their partner at all. Hadith says look for religiosity in a partner, otherwise calamities will prevail. But people don't prefer if a girl is practicing islam or not, how are her beliefs and her nature. That's the main problem.

I am not here to defend Pakistani men because I know how they brought up. However grass is not green, in the west I have seen Dad is OK taking her daughter to strip club on her birthday, one of my class mate boyfriend cheated on her and sleeping with her mother.
