As I knew it to be, this blew my review of Wayward out of the water, good jorb and thanks for maing me a part of this! This really is a series that should get more attention, considering the only other video game adaptations of WoD are those 2 Vampire RPG's
YES! I've been looking for any reviews of the Hunter: the reckoning series. After watching your Resident evil reviews it's great to return and see you did this as well.
I had the first game and loved it, got me to read some Reckoning novels but i never played any WW table top games. Id love a hunter game closer to something like VtM Bloodlines.
Play Warhammer Fantasy Role-play 2nd ed for your first pen n paper roleplaying experience. You should be able to find all the PDF guides and stuff for it. It's the best by far and works on percentages rather than d20s or other weird dice rolls where you need a guide at all times (in dnd) to work out what dice you need for all the attacks.
I played the first game on the xbox with my group of friends every week (right before we would play Hunter: The Reckoning tabletop RPG), and I also played the Judge. Everyone else would charge into the group of zombies, but I would always hang back and just spam my crossbow, to the point where the group referred to me as "Captain Crossbow". I haven't thought about that in years... thanks for this review :p
Woo Hunter the Reckoning! :) I watched The Dali Popka's review of the series, and happy to see you doing a review as well. And that's really cool that you worked with him for this video! ;) My brother and I played the first game in this series a good bit. I was pretty partial to Father Cortez as well. :P The multiplayer is definitely what drew me to this game. Hacking and slashing through undead hordes is always more fun with a friend. Great review! :)
I haven't played this game. Got the other two. The first one is brilliant and I got really good at it (which you have to to be able to finish it). You need to always keep moving and learn how to dodge roll. Only use weapons with ammo on big mobs and special beasts otherwise you have to keep rolling around for bosses shooting them for 10mins. Can you get these games on PC or anything now?
No, sadly there are no pc ports of this series. Can you imagine how great a steam ver would be??! Maybe a bit of online co-op in there. That sounds like a fucking blast.
You know, while I did like Wayward, there is one thing as a WoD fan that never really sat right with me, the Wayward character in the game. You see, he and Carpenter are canon characters. Carpenter, minus some backstory changes and the weird fetish gear he wears, is presented quite in line with his character as depicted in the TT game. Joshua Mattews, the Wayward, is really different from what he's supposed to be. You see, the Wayward Creed is one of the Lost Creeds, hunters who had something go wrong when they were Imbued. They are all the most violent, zealous and ruthless of the hunters. They seek nothing more than the total extermination of the supernatural regardless of the innocents that get in the way. And Joshua Mattews is the Signature Character of the Wayward Creed. The Mattews of the TT is more line with the rogue hunter you have to take down in the game.
I would definitely want to try this series out since this is kind of up my alley, but due to the clunk factor to everything, and currently coming off of playing Witcher 3 and Xenoblade Chronicles X, which are both fighting for my favorite game of the year, i don't know if I have the time right now to really invest a chunk of change for this series yet. Shame to :/
+CamsEyeView I wouldn't worry if I were you. These guys never go up in price, so you should be able to find them around the 10 dollar range, no matter when you get around to them.
I find it weird that the series is on different systems. I can play the first one on the gamecube and the second on the ps2 but the third is on the xbox only. thats weird to me. but the game looks interesting I'll have to look up some more vids.
+Leon0000 I have never even played the Xbox title, but I recently bought my very first xbox, just to play it. Maybe White Wolf would have been able to continue the series if they wouldn't have broken the games up between the systems like that.
Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't tell you that VTM and WOD might not be "gone for good" anymore. Paradox recently purchased whitewolf, and has expressed the desire to revive some of these series. It looks very promising!
+Written Word With digital distribution and game creation costs being so low, I bet they could make a great follow up for way less than they spent on the console games.
Haha I remember this series. Played with my dad shortly after I started dating my now wife and I remember having lots of fun. However apparently I only played the 1st and 3rd games. Didn't realize there was on on PS2. Ah memories.
Yeah it was dumb af they decided to pump out sequels but they made each sequel exclusive to the PlayStation and Xbox. Weyward was on PS2 and Redeemer was on Xbox.
I remember my brother and I playing this when it came out. Fucking was soooo hard we couldn't get past the first few levels but damn if I didn't really enjoy the gameplay and setting.
I played and loved the first one but it was super hard and I never beat it. Never played the second one since it was PS2 exclusive, but I️ loved and beat the third game. I️ miss this series... and the priest 😪
gsc didn't try to make something deep with revisit they just tried to make ONE game and failed at it in THREE tries this games looks interesting, i would try it with my mouse also, ever played sigma team games?
Hunter the Reckoning is the reason I wanted an xbox for christmas. It was the coolest looking game to me. But Super Smash Bros. Melee won my heart and I got a Gamecube instead. Eventually when I played this the year after I thought it was amazing and played with friends and my Dad. Unfortunately, I recently popped it into my Xbox One X via backwards compability and.........it does NOT hold up for me at all lol. There are modern games just like it that are more fun to play. But ill always have the memories
I still love it, but yeah, there are a lot of cracks in it. I would absolutely love to see a modern attempt at a hunter game. Seems like they could do way better, with a pretty small budget.
+Leonardo Huizar (LeoHwzr) That sucks. How can people abuse their games like that!!?!? It usually stays at the 8-15 dollar range, so it's still pretty cheap on ebay.
As I knew it to be, this blew my review of Wayward out of the water, good jorb and thanks for maing me a part of this! This really is a series that should get more attention, considering the only other video game adaptations of WoD are those 2 Vampire RPG's
+The Dali Popka Always a pleasure! I hope we can send some viewers your way. Now that I have an Xbox, I'll be knocin on your door more often.
+Avalanche Reviews The original Xbox has so many fun titles. Have fun with the mean green box.
Always love seeing a review of games I have yet to discover.
+TWK Reviews I aim to please...........or justify my weird ass tastes.
YES! I've been looking for any reviews of the Hunter: the reckoning series. After watching your Resident evil reviews it's great to return and see you did this as well.
I'm going to be working on a retrospective for the whole Hunter The Reckoning series pretty soon. I can't fucking wait!
I had the first game and loved it, got me to read some Reckoning novels but i never played any WW table top games. Id love a hunter game closer to something like VtM Bloodlines.
To this day I enjoy going through the first game with a bud. Although the entire series has some flaws, it's still a great alternative to Gauntlet.
+PhilJFur Absolutely! I just got an Xbox for the first time in my life, so I can't wait to play Redeemer.
When games were great
It was the end of an era
I agree brother

Hmmm, I do like the idea of using percentages instead of dice rolls. Feel more like the rpgs that I'm used to.
Thank you for updates this video!!

+truebluegem Right!?!? His AOE magic was awesome, plus who wouldn't want to play as a priest, wielding a sword and crossbow?
YAY YOU HATH RETURNED! Awesome choice of review too!
+Written Word I have indeed! I had some finals, so my schedule got thrown off a little.

+RPGtourguide Thanks! I first experienced it with my brother too. I'll always remember us having a great time with it.
I didn't even know this was a thing. The real question is: How does it stack up against the Underworld PS2 game?
+Casposaurus - The Channel That Hugs Back Are we setting the bar that high? Don't you ever want to be satisfied?

I feel like that would have probably made for a more interesting story.
Clearly, between DP's videos and your video I will need to get the whole Hunter the Reckoning series.
+iluvgrapedrank At their current price, it's a no brainer. They're so fun, even with the flaws.
Thanks much for the review. Played the original and Redeemer but never Wayward. Miss it every once in awhile on the Xbox.
+couchtr26 Fuck yeah, you'll be right at home with wayward then
Carpenter was always the hammy character that always made me enjoy the Hunter franchise. Also, Judge is always my favorite character.
+wh3nderson95 Yeah! I always try someone else for a while, but end up playing judge again.

+Written Word That is some of the best news I have heard in a long time!!!!!!!
Avalanche Reviews Oh yeah, I had a nerdgasm. They're keeping a lid on it, but they seem excited to revive them!

That's actually how I played it too! Me and my brother grinded for hours with it.

+Blaine Alexander right?! He was the best! I think I should do some kind of retrospective in this series one day.
Wayward was the only one I ever finished. Rocked the Judge as well.
He's the best!
@@AvalancheReviews the BEST!!

Very nice review. Just subscribed.
Thanks! Good to have ya!
Jared upgraded to 720p60fps...smooth.
Time to scour the comments for the Dali Popka's comment. LOL
+Raven575 Avalanche Reviews now joins the rest of humanity in the 21st century!!
Great video man, I thoroughly enjoy your vids. Thank you for making them.
+Raven575 Awww thanks man!
Despite some negatives, you got me interested in the game i will have to give it a go in the future. :)

What is a table top RPG?
+விஷ்ணு கார்த்திக் Like Dungeons and Dragons. It's also called a pen and paper rpg, because you assign all your character stats on paper.
I saw this for cheap at a yard sale and ...ruined disk side.
+Leonardo Huizar (LeoHwzr) That sucks. How can people abuse their games like that!!?!? It usually stays at the 8-15 dollar range, so it's still pretty cheap on ebay.
I always got my ass kicked at this game >.
+HistoricNerd I still do
Thank you for updates this video!!
