The valley of Kashmir is a region to the north-west of the Indian Subcontinent. It is sandwiched between Pakistan, India and China. All three of which claim parts or whole of Kashmir. Pakistan and India specifically have a fierce and bloody rivalry over it. It goes back to the partition in 1947 when the Hindu ruler of Kashmir sided with India even though, the majority of the population of Kashmir was and remains Muslim. So, how did Islam find its way to this remote valley?

Zain ul abideen was no different from his father. He actually had a health issue which couldn't get treated by the hakeems and was on death bed, so one of his ministers told him about Shri Bhatta a Kashmiri Brahmin who could cure him. The soldiers were sent to jungle to find him since Kashmiri Hindus had fled due to religious persecution. It was after his successful treatment that Zain ul Abideen became benevolent towards Kashmiri Brahmins and when he asked Shri Bhatta what does he want as a reward, he asked for resettlement of Kashmiri Brahmins. After that he got named as Budshah.

Shah Mir was indeed from the Tajik Swati ruling family of Swat (a kingdom that encompassed tge old Gandhara area and was a Ghurid - Delhi Sultanate vassal). They were indigenous Tajik Dehqans of the Gandhara and Badakhshan region. They were also called "Gabri" indicating their original Zoroastrian background. After the Yusufzai Afghans invaded Swat with the assistance of Babur the Mughal in 1520, the Swatis were overthrown and displaced. They now call themselves Pathans and speak both Pashto and Hindko. They originally spoke Gabri (Zoroastrian Dari). They patronised and facilitated the prominent Muslim mystic of Kashmir, a Persian by the name of Shah-i- Hamadan. I myself am a Swati. Shah Mir himself was a Swati adventurer from Batkhela town in today's Malakand Division of KP in Pakistan. He supposedly went to Kashmir after his father saw a dream in which he saw his son as king of Kashmir. The Shahmiri Tajik rule was finally put paid to by Akbar, Babur's grandson, although they still figure prominently in Kashmiri society.

Not bad! Here's some additional context that I think the viewers might be interested in:
    * The etymology of Kashmir is likely traced to the Hindu saint Kashyapa.
    * Kashmiris are known to have worshipped the sun god Surya, with many temples still standing in the region to prove as a testament to this

@ARP yes , the land won't go anywhere (unless the continents shift). We are not talking about land going anywhere but rather we ask for our right to self determination on this land we are native to irrespective of religion. The land is Kashmir and we are called Kashmiris. We speak kashmiri , follow Kashmiri traditions and culture and have roots in this place. India has been largely succesful in portraying our struggle as an "islamic" one and I have to accept we Kashmiris and also Pakistan is largely responsible for that. You might say that kashmiri civlization is an important part of Indian civilization but so are Nepal , Bangladesh , Pakistan. At some point , even south east Asia was an important part of Indian civilization. Are they not separate countries? You never know what will happen in the future. Maybe in the next 200 years we won't get what we want , maybe even in the next 1000 years we won't , maybe in the next 2000 years we won't. We probably won't even exist. And at some point , the Hindu indian civilization didn't even exist (before Proto-Indo-European from central Asia migrated to India) and was a completely different civilation all together. You never know what will happen. Anyways , I just want peace for everyone.

    • @scorps4471

    • @scorps4471

@ARP ok , you should come to Kashmir and talk to the kashmiri Pandits here then. But I don't understand why you will only accept kashmiri Pandit demands? Religious preference? See how religion keeps coming up whenever you talk about Kashmir? This is the problem.
I'm not asking for unification with Pakistan and the establishment of an islamic caliphate in Kashmir. I'm asking for an independent Kashmir with Kashmiris living in peace irrespective of religion. Infact not even an independent Kashmir. First , we just want a plebiscite with all Kashmiris irrespective of religion getting a chance to decide their own fate.
When most kashmiri muslims asked for freedom from both India , a Hindu majority state and Pakistan , a Muslim majority state , kashmiri Pandits living in India find comfort in India's Hindu majority and want unification with India. So who really is biased here?
And again , if you think kashmiri pandits don't want freedom , I wonder how much you really know about Kashmir from books and not news , social media , etc. Do you know who coined the term "Kashmir for Kashmiris"? It was Prem Nath bazaz , a kashmiri Pandit.
He wrote many books on Kashmir , one of the best being "History of struggle for freedom in Kashmir".

Sub-continent culture is a collection of a large number of local cultures which did influence one another but at the same time can be easily differentiated from one another. There was no one India or Indian culture. It's always has been collection of different kingdoms and large number of local cultures. Regarding the indigenous kashmir, all of them are real kashmir as majority of them had converted to Islam. Them converting to a different religion doesn't make less of a kashmiri.

Could I ask what are your sources on Mir Syed Ali Hamadani, Hamadani was from Suhravardi order, don't know how did you conclude that he was puritanical?

    • @inshahmalik8691
      @inshahmalik8691 ปีที่แล้ว

The other major problem is no actual consideration for speaking about how rishis indigenized Sufi teachings through use of Kashmiri languages which means rishis were indigenous peoples. Hamdani on the other hand came from the Ilkhanate Mongol state before the rise of Timur in Cenrtral Asia or former Chagatai khanate and spoke Persian and Arabic predominantly.

    • @inshahmalik8691

Lastly, Timur did not capture Ilkanate (modern day Iran and Iraq) so what are the substantial evidence that Hamadani was escaping timur?

@@1525boy Very funny question. Do Israel believe in the right of Palestine state to exist UN has more than 100 resolutions against Israel. Israel has openly stated that they don't believe in the right of Palestinians to exist. Israel exists or doesn't exist does not matter at all, as soon as the rights of Palestinians to their land and right of return of refugees is granted . UN grants both

@@sabrinashahab795 It’s not a “funny question.” It’s a perfectly rational question. If you don’t think that Israel 🇮🇱 should have been created then using that same logic “Pakistan” should have never been created as well. Both were created at the same time (1947 and 1948 respectively) and neither would exist if it wasn’t for British colonial rule.

I am really impressed. U used the term rishis propagating non idol worships too.. some may disagree but Hinduism has never been idol centric only. It has many system of faiths. Shivaism was importantly partly nonidiolatory (nirakar). Hinduism has never mentioned any specific system it has included all the systems of worship. The region of Tibet and Himalayas has influence of worship through meditation since ancient times by rishis.
