The crystals are use to win the game, the enemies spawn from an enemy towe, if you manage to find all the crystals you can destroy it. Hope you make more content from this game
they spawn always in the same spot, so if u know were, its a lot easier to win, also there is more than 3 crystals and u only need 3 to finish, so u can make more optimised routes
Videos on these types of games are perfect for convincing people to buy them, because it's so easy to catch the youtuber's mistakes and everybody has ideas (right or wrong) about how to do things better. Still fun to watch!
The limitation for the towers so that you lose. That's the mechanic is so that you have to keep playing over and over again to upgrade and then continue going on once you can get more Towers . Also you could have built more ballistas in order to do higher single Target damage
I think the tower limit is because you can beat the level by taking out the spawn tower. If you had unlimited towers and resources then you could just farm for coins and upgrades. It's an interesting spin on the standard tower defense game if you know the win conditions. If not then it's a bit confusing why they have strayed from the norm. Great vid!
It's a really fun game and the dev is also very active on discord. The level so far is intentionally really hard because we only got this one level in the demo the future lower levels will be much easier giving more time to relax as well, looking really forward to it's release!
what you could do are more balistas and catapults instead of mass acorn tower. a "wall" of 6 - 8 acorn towers in the curves in front of the tower will be enough to kill those who get past the road you paved with tons of catapults and a few balistas. i suggest getting having your first ballista ready before day 2 starts and your first catapult before the day 3 monsters are starting to swarm you. when night falls on day 3, you should have 3 to 4 balistas and 2 to 3 catapults as well as the 6 to 8 acorn towers. as for spikes: forget those, they are rather underwhelming in their performance
I did got my win in my second play, looks like you need to remove some towers and advance with them, to have more “space”, still, the tower limit and not having “progress” (updating towers) it keep the game very difficult for higher waves, you kind need to rush to finish the enemy
This feels like a cross between Timberborn and the mobile game called The Tower, except with much less emphasis on "die repeatedly or pay to win" which is common in mobile games.
The crystal is for destroying the enemy's castle (which is where all the enemies are coming from). If only there were a tutorial to teach you about the different things in the game...
i think you should invest early into one of those traps. if they are placed on the pathway it damages EVERY unit passing by. that is much more efficient then single target towers.
also the best defence should be a mix of catapults (to kill big groups), crossbow (to take off the defence of the mobs) and the traps at the end for the healthy mobs
when you follow the road it leads to the enemy fort which spawnes the mobs the crystall is used to destroy the fort beware i needed 3 when i discorvered mine :(
@ 28:58 the tower limit isnt a problem when you realize you need you upgrade the terrible acorns to literally anything else. you have hundreds of every resource, replace them all! now! no need to wait! without a limit the solution would just always be fill every square with a turret...
@KatherineOfSky it is. But hitting a target 4x for 8 is still worse than hitting it once for 50 for example. And 20 ballista will do a load more than 20 acorns
There's a splitter, which is basically the "balancer". She didn't use it here, but it could be nice for allowing all of your sawmills to output onto one belt and then split into one or more sawmills.
I'm not impressed by a demo where I can't win without having to invest in some kind of "out of game" upgrades either. I should be able to win on my first time and then see the upgrades and go "oh... I could win faster".
They should call this game Chop Chop Defense. Because of all the hurrying, and all the chopping of wood.

Yes, I could, but they fire so darn slowly that they almost always lose their target because other towers kill them
@@KatherineOfSky set the target to shield -> health priority

i find the game easy enough as it is. with no/few upgrades, it's hard, but once you got a few things unlocked, it becomes a breeze.
Looks fun! Feels like there should be some research tree or something that gives more towers.
There is! And she shows it off at the very end!
@@stephennetu Wow I completely missed that, thanks!
Kingdom Rush meets Shapez! I love it!!
PS.: Great voice Katherine. Really sweet. 👍😊
I like the genre blend here.

When I see a new game on yt, I always think "yeah, but has KoS played this yet"
HAHAHA
Thanks!

I play The Tower... it's very very very grindy >.>

u need 40 processed rocks and logs, by the time u have that u lost if u dont use any other weapon

Yeah, as Yosoy said, you can't buy them early. They need processed materials and lots of them.
I just need this to release.
Reminds me of Exodus Borealis.
Thank you for a good video!

Hey only watched like 1 min in but love the energy and vibes. you speak incredibly well
Thanks! Enjoy!
Looks like a nice game indeed, you're gonna make me acquire another game xD! :D

more expensive towers are just strictly better. balista is gonna do more good than an acorn 100% of the time for example.
But the fire rate is atrocious...
@KatherineOfSky it is. But hitting a target 4x for 8 is still worse than hitting it once for 50 for example. And 20 ballista will do a load more than 20 acorns
Please try Fabledom!!! You would really like it! 😁
I'll check it out!
Is combiner also a balancer?
No, it outputs to only one lane. a "balancer", in Factorio terms, outputs equally to many belts
There's a splitter, which is basically the "balancer". She didn't use it here, but it could be nice for allowing all of your sawmills to output onto one belt and then split into one or more sawmills.
I tried 6 games but could not beat it :( I guess you must farm upgrades to win.... too bad
Someone told me (in the comments here) that they beat it on their second try. Apparently you need to space out the towers more.
