This experiment is so crazy and dangerous, but at the same time so interesting.
What don't you understand about current limiting? They showed you the big resistor in the center. Nowhere near as dangerous as it looks.
Yeah but have you done an analysis on the leakage current? At this voltage I would be worried about everything. The chair, other objects and even the air (The current can find it's way through about 1 meter of air).
If you watch his other videos you can see he is aware of the leakage current and has measures to change if needed. He's got history on his side.
The fact that the guy got nervous when feeling electricity through the chair suggests otherwise. The guys are obviously very brave and intelligent. Still at this high voltage everything becomes a risk. I watched the other video that showed how they assembled it and here it was shown that several times leakage current was the problem with the TV beginning to flicker...
yes, there are risks to everything if you are going to be a safety sally about it. Bombs could blow them apart -- check the videos where they show the town around them. The dark haired guy is newer and taking lead from the older guy who repairs electronics for a living. Maybe he even left a more dangerous wartorn area so playing with high voltage is comparitively safe. They've found a way to make a living from it all and have fun doing it plus sharing -- YT videos.

Despite comments about tesla coil, they actually use high voltage direct current. They produce it by connecting multiple voltage multipliers from CRT TV in series. This voltage accumulates in capacitors and is VERY dangerous. Much more dangerous than high frequency AC from tesla coils. Even one voltage multiplier can kill you. They use dozens of them.

Propably their most crazy experment so far OMG. If guy on the chair would accidently get grounded, for example, fall of the chair or touched directly something that is well grounded, he propably would drop dead instantly, his heart would stop beating from that brutal discharge also his nervous system could be damaged

The voltage multipliers in series creates a rippled DC voltage at the output, so this is like a Van de Graaff generator with no moving parts. So it's not that dangerous to make this, as long as the input transformer is not outputting over 500 watts into the voltage multipliers
