It's a long way to battleship. Especially for ( new ) solo ( at first ) players. Should explain how joining a corp is helping much more and how to fleet up. You may actually do them yourself in a discord chat.
Hey, the Venture is not "classical". It's a new thing they threw in a couple years ago, like hack game designers do. You want classical miners, go back to cruisers before the logi update, where the Osprey ruled supreme lol.
Back in the day had a mining frigate, then omen, then an armageddon, until finally getting the apoc. Lost it to a container stealing gank because I was a complete noob still and didnt understand mechanics yet lol
This takes me back to my early experiences of eve in the early 2000’s! Harvester drones used to be so expensive but this with a bestower on my alt was our standard mining setup
Actually quite an impressive build. The only problem is the cargo hold vs that sweet mining hold. You'd either have to go back and forth too much or you'd need to use containers and haul that stuff back. Also, with such a high valued target you'd be prey to pirates for sure.
The Apoc is not the best as of last year the Rokh can mine 13.6 per second. The praxis can have a huge cargo hold so if you want something that can afk, you can use that(And you still get more m3 than a venture with no skills needed to fly the ship). You also don't need to fly to the asteroids every time, they don't move and will be in the same spot after downtime every day so you can just bookmark them. History: yes, this is how people mined before the ORE ships were added to the game, and the mega was at that time the best mining ship in the game. PS. This works really well with a fleet where you have compression.
Yes, jet can mining was the best way back in the day (2000's). A shame alpha clones can't use T1 mining drones. It is pretty disappointing that CCP doesn't let alphas use one of the mining barges. The more they tease the player with goodies, the more likely they will play more and maybe subscribe! I used to do 2 hulks, jetcan then use a bestower to pick up the cans while the other hulk continued to mine. Only an alpha now, stuck with just one account and a lowly venture. Trying out wormhole mining for gas sites. 20 mill isk/hr but very risky. Had to hide for an hour as I was being hunted, did get out, only done it once. Certainly better than hi-sec mining. Also when I was running level 4 security missions In 0.5 space, some of the deadspaces you had to warp to would have omber asteroids in them, so I would bookmark them and mine them after the mission. Since omber was only available in 0.4 and lower. Don't know if this is still the case.
once upon a time, in the early days of eve we didnt have mining ships. No ventures, no skiffs.. not even an orca. if you wanted to mine you did it in a Rokh. But the gankers cried to CCP about how miners were unkillable so we got a venture. 10+ years later its still a crap trade
I remember using a .. Tormentor? .. one of the "racial mining frigates" with a bonus to mining .. then I figured out a Coercer fit with 3 beam lasers, 2 mining lasers, tractor beam and salvager in the highs .. I mined into strings of giant secure containers I had anchored in the belts from my industrial .. I had to later go out in my industrial to scoop the ore from the GSCs then I met some people using barges .. back when the fit determined how much cargo space you had _( no ore hold at that time )_ . . the balance between cargo/yield and defense ... and the Procurer could only fit 1 strip miner
+1 on your video it looks fun. I still use my Venture to mine in most places. But I did some mining with a Punisher, Merlin, etc. for fun. When I can find a "quiet spot" in high security space I have used my Bestower to mass mine at much slower rate but it can haul 25,000 volume (5 times the Venture). All of these ships can be used by Alpha players, but you could lose them should someone find you. I tend to load up my Venture with 2 Miner II class lasers, Upgrade I, a decent engine to warp out fast, and 2 expendable drones. The drones, in most cases, can handle NPC pirates. But if a red player shows up, best to warp out and buy more drones later. Liked and subbed.
"Decent engine to warp out fast"? If you mean afterburner and microwarpdrives, those slightly increase the amount of time it takes to warp off while turned on.
@@dunkyl I mostly use the cold gas micro engine. To explain in greater detail. While mining gas in low sec, I have used 2 tactics for escaping other players. 1. No engine required, just align to your dock or saved safe point, you have a few seconds to warp out as they warp in. 2. Use the MWD to orbit the site at full speed while mining. If a player scrambles you warp (not webbed) you align your ship to dock and wait for their scrambler to cycle and hope your shields hold.

My mining Rokh fits 8 mining lasers, has over 2600 m3 cargo, and has over 125k hitpoints. Also by way of a tip, rather than fit a MWD, fit a Jump Drive instead. This way just warp to 100kms of the belt, point at the desired roids and activate. Also allows a quick getaway if ganked.
You can get a praxis fit such that it mines faster than a venture and at the same time has more cargo than the ore hold plus the cargo hold of the venture.
I used to laugh at BB mining ships but then when the Triglavian incursions came I would use one Praxis to kill most of the enemies and then grab another Praxis to mine the Talassonite that they spawned in hisec. It would just tank a couple enemies shooting at it and when done mining have the drones kill the final ships.

Okay, I really need to comment some things here having mined a LOT in EVE back in the day before the fancy new Mining ships. Back then Apoc was the ONLY viable mining ship for serious miners. And get that useless MWD off that mining ship right now! Such a waste of CPU and PG. If you are serious about actually mining you make bookmarks in the belts of a good mining system, and you warp straight to them. There is plenty of range on the mining lasers to cover big areas. Strange that this popped up now again. Have a friend that is still alpha mining in his praxis. And now with corp missions being rewarded its doing ok as well.
Anyone thinking of doing this today you can ditch the MWD by creating bookmarks (new location) with a frig. Something you want to do anyways to put yourself away from the drop in reducing a gank. Back in the day when I did BS mining I had another account running a hauler. Back then mining could pay to plex your account in about a week. Though it's better just to pay for for one month with cash then to burn a week mining. Unless playing EVE is your job.
You don't want to use a micro warp-drive you can just walk to a asteroid belt and then save the location of the asteroids and then warped directly to them instead of flying back and forth

Like eve in the old days... Back the all miners used apoc for mining 😂😂
You won't do such crazy experiments on your patients, will you? :-D
How its alpha if the modules are for Omega?
lol back in the day (2007-2008 time frameI did this in a Myrm.
How is this the best mining ship for alpha? The cargo space is so low...
asking the real questions!
I'am wondering if a Vindicator would do better. :)
Back to 2010?
I used to use a naga to mine r64 when i was alpha is cheeper and since u still need to jeticson whit the apocalipse i think the naga is better
wouldnt the venture still be numero uno, the last time i ran it, burned through the 5k base ore cargo really fast.
You can jettison into a can and it will allow 60k m3.
We all know that the best mining ship is an Avatar...
I have a Megatron, could you send me the load out on it? Thank You!!!
Fun fact there is a Dreadnought with mining lasers in Jita it happens after a weird glitch to get caps in highsec
hey, if Alphas use Apocs ti mine with eventually Alphas will have access to mining barges. :) that is what happened las time.
Imagine getting 300mill isk in a ven ture with highsec mining just to buy a battleship to mine lol
I use praxis for mining xD 9.9k m3 cargo
sure thing bro lemme mine in a fat 300mil venture
Alphas cant use tractor units?
I hate it’s kinda actually viable
what's the point of low cargo space lol
you might need a new vagabond? haha
Do it in a Kestrel.
safety would like a word with you
