I am American and as much as I love the American team, I think the Romanians were robbed. I watched their entire routines in the floor finals and they did an outstanding performance, one of them jumping more than 12 feet high, flawless routines, amazing difficulty. Biles put two feet out of the square, twice! and Chiles had several imbalances and also made mistakes. No one should be granted a medal making those mistakes, when we are asking for perfection.
My sister was artistic gymnastics coach in the 90s, so I know quite a lot about this sport because I have been attending countless gymnastic events in my life. When the Romanians did their exercises I was certain they were gonna get a medal, both of them. What happened at the end was not fair.

I am happy for Jordan Chiles. However, I feel poorly for Romanian girls. I believe they did very well. Chiles had some hiccups that is certain. If her routine was more difficult and judges did not score her routine correctly then she deserved the bronze medal. The coaches asked for inquiry and the judges were wrong. Perhaps, the judges were wrong scoring Romanian team. Simone' s routine is very difficult and yes she stepped out a few times. The routine deserves a medal.

Simone routinely jumps 12+ feet‼️ She can easily achieve 12 feet on the floor & vault. She can do skills no one else can which is why her “start value” is so freaking high! Her “stepping” out of bounds does not usually affect her score so much. (But it’s usually only 1 foot not both) *Biles has a calf injury… I think they are down playing it, but I feel it’s more complicated than they are letting on. (She has a contract to headline the “Gold Over America” tour very soon. So they need to protect her) ✨It is actually unreal that Simone has made it this far without serious injury doing the “hard hitting” moves she achieves over & over!

They did not execute the one-leg spin but their height in the triple jumps was higher, Chiles lost her balance on that part and only completed two out of three, so difficulty didnt matter. How many meets have you coached? Let me guess zero. I have coached for 52 yrs. One of the things coaches do is if they notice someones start value or difficulty score isn't what it is suppose to be based on performance, then the coach can submit an inquiry which is what happened. Jordan has a leap skill that she didn't get full credit for in prelims but USA coaches felt she should have in floor finals. The submitted the inquiry and it was approved. Understand inquiries can go both ways, judges can also lower the score. The approval added .1 to her start value and as a result .1 to her final score. That is how it works people so stop trying to shame the judges, the coaches and most of all Jordan.

I guess you don't listen to the commentaries or know anything about gymnastic scoring. Simone can step out of bounds because her difficulty score is high enough she can do that. I used to be a competitive gymnast, and sticking a tumbling pass that's 12' in the air is nearly impossible and nobody else in the world can do it. These armchair judges need to stop focusing on stuck landing and focus on what the gymnast is actually doing. Those out of bound steps are nothing when you start with a 6.8 difficulty score. If her focus when doing a triple twisting double back was sticking the landing, she'd break her legs.

The IOC needs to do better in order to prevent something like this from happening. Both gymnasts performed beautifully and should hold their heads high and be proud of each other.

In the winter olympics I always remember the drama with ice skating scoring. They need to have something foolproof. I watch soccer, there is "VAR", they have refs in a booth in the stands with videos watching it all, rewinding, pausing, making a part of the screen bigger to see in detail. They call the ref even if the game is still going on and made them aware of a potential foul, card, penalty or a disallowed goal that should be allowed. I would be Romania I would give her the highest distinction in the country to make up for it.

Every coach has a right to inquire about the difficulty score. If Jordan's coach hadn't, there'd be an uproar that they lost her the bronze. These women are 100% focused on just getting through their routines. They aren't watching the tv monitors on slow motion, they have no idea what's going on with the judges or other competitors outside of their own scores. Jordan didn't even know he coach made and inquiry, and when they changed her score, she celebrated as she should. Ana celebrated before the score was final, and she should have waited. Jordan didn't know the other competitor didn't step out of bounds, she's just an athlete who's subjected to the judges score just like every other athlete in the Olympics.

People keep talking about the Romanians being robbed, but it was the coaches’ responsibility to evaluate the floor as well. If Voinea's foot is that close to the line and the judges call it out, what’s $350 to submit an inquiry? At worst, you lose the money; at best, the score is upgraded. Bela Karolyi was notorious for submitting/pressing for inquiries. One of which, resulted in American Raisman leapfrogging Romania’s Ponor for a bronze in 2012. In fact, US coaches have been known to have prepared inquiry forms requiring only the skill needing to be penciled in. The rules are clear on the timeliness of the inquiry. An inquiry for Voinea needed to be submitted within a specified period of the score being posted or before the next gymnast performs. Individual gymnasts and teams have lost out on medals due to inquiries. It is what it is.

She did submit an enquiry. That's where the corruption lies. Chiles' enquiry was shaky. The coach even said so. It was accepted. Voinea clearly did not deserve a deduction for being out of bounds but her enquiry was struck down. The fact that the US are banking enquiries says they're not really playing in the spirit of the game. I mean, who wants to play a sport where you can never truly celebrate because you're always on the people who own the sport to decide if they want the score changed to suit them. People want to see victories in the arena, not in manilla folders.

The way of assessing the score awarded and the refusal to fully present the reasons/evidence for the rejection of the appeal of Sabrina Voinea submitted within the deadline provided by the regulation brings serious damage both to the image of international gymnastics but especially affects the athlete.
When Romanian team’s appeal is accepted in a matter of days, and the score reverted, Sabrina’s original 13.800 points would put her comfortably ahead of Team USA’s Chiles

As an American I’m proud of our gymnasts but in this case neither Biles or Chiles deserved medals. The Romanian girls were perfect while Biles clearly went out of bounds after one of her flips and Chiles hopped back after one of hers so their performances were not perfect. Because it’s Simone Biles they had to give it to her. I’m just being objective here based on the performance. If you’re wondering check out all their performances. It’s clear who the real silver and bronze medalists are.

Stepping out of bounds is a very small deduction compared to the difficulty of the moves Simone Biles. I don't understand why armchair spectators think doing gymnastics well is only about how perfectly you land. Sabrina has a decent difficulty score, but she was sloppy in other areas Simone wasn't, and Simone's difficulty score was almost a 7, which is insanely high.

I m reading the title but somehow the video became about Chiles, Biles...not mentioning at all the crying and heartbreak by the RO gymnast just the cry of joy by Chiles.😡

every loser should appeal, what's the point of competing or working hard if judges can change their minds with appeals

Everybody's talking about how the Romanians were robbed, Jordan herself was robbed in my opinion, her score was lower than it should've been. She shouldn't even been in the spot she was in the first place. She should've gotten a 13.933 for her routine, and that would've avoided all of this drama with the Romanians. I do hope the Romanians uses this as motivation to clap back at the Americans on their own home soil in 2028 because they used to have a strong rivalry with the US in women's gymnastics.
