    I just bought a 2021 Laramie from MotorWorld in Wilkes barre. I love it compared to my 5.3 Silverado. It came off a 3 year lease with 9000 miles.

    I have a new ‘22 Ram Bighorn 4x4 with the 12” screen. Regular 5.7 hemi. Had it about a month. 350 miles on it. I’m getting 23.5-24 mpg going 65 on the highway. I think that’s pretty good. I do a lot of in town driving so I haven’t really been able to see what I get. I know it won’t be very good with the stop & go but I knew that when I bought it. So far I haven’t had any screen glitches or any troubles. Ride quality & the quietness inside has been better than what I expected. So far I am very happy. They make V6 ETorque that’s supposed to do better on gas. My advice is if you want better mpg & tow, get the 3.0 diesel.

    • @PMPerformance
      @PMPerformance  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really is a great truck. I don’t think a v6 or 3.0 diesel will fit my needs. I’d love to see a TT v6 though.

      @@PMPerformance I don’t understand why our highway mpg is so different. I have the 33gal fuel tank too. So that’s extra weight. I’ve been happy so far with the highway mpg. I’ve only done 4 round trips about 50 miles each way but my mpg has been consistent there. I guess time will tell. Thanks for the video & replying!!

      Also rim size doesn't affect fuel mileage it's tire weight and size that does cause of aerodynamics. I'm rocking Rebel 10ply mudtires at almost 34" with level kit and my new 2023 Sport avg 23mpg on my first 600km trip. So would be alot better if I had stock tires and vehicle broken in so not sure why your mileage is lower

    • @PMPerformance
      @PMPerformance  ปีที่แล้ว

      @NickLesyshen wheel size makes a difference when your tire size increases.
      You are not going to get better gas mileage when it “breaks in”
      I got MUCH better gas mileage before it “broke in”
      No one gets good gas mileage on mud tires and lift kits. I think your electronics are broken. Lol
      My figures are from actually driving my truck for awhile. Judging based on your first rank while you are pussy footing it is not a proper gauge of things.
      Come back in a year and let me know your figures

    • @fc1984fc
      @fc1984fc 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@PMPerformance in some cases, yes. The fact is that the European market is neglecting the mid-market segment between the smaller pick up trucks we have over here and full scale trucks. So it feels like there is a gap there that models like the Ford Ranger Raptor haven't quite filled. The transition from them to proper trucks is still abrupt.

    • @PMPerformance

    The same here my 3.6L V-6. 2016 Ram 4x4 Bighorn Crew Cab. Only gets 15.8 mpg with the ( Shitty Mn. ) Winter Gas. In the summer, i am getting 18.7 mpg or better with it. But 85% of my driving is in the city. I just ordered a loaded 2021 Ram 1500 4x4 LongHorn. With the 5.7L Hemi with out the eTorque option and 3.92 rear gears. I don't worry to much about gas Mpg. Being i am Disabled Vet. And i don't but on many miles a year. In the last 3 years. I only but around 2,500 to 3,000 miles a year on my Ram.

    Yeah backing out of the driveway is terrible for locking up the breaks. I have also had issues going over large speed bumps where is stops the truck and goes into auto park mode. I have not had any issues after turning of the rear break assist. I still get alerts but it doesn’t slam on the breaks and freak out my kid.

    i'm shopping for a truck and my goodness.....too many options haha. I bought a challenger (r/t) two years ago and i swear i aged a few years with all the research i did. i'm starting to feel that way again looking at all my options for trucks. one day i'll be leaning toward a midsized truck, then i'll be thinking i want more full size. then i'll be ok with a V6, then i'll want a V8. one day i'm cool with the 8.4 inch screen, then i'll drool over those 12 inch screens. then i'm ok with decent gas mileage, then i'll lean more toward wanting as best i can get with a truck (as you said, i understand its a truck but its also 2021 and we should be able to expect somewhat decent mileage compared to trucks of yesteryear) i really like the looks of the 1500 ram trucks....but dang, all these little glitches scare me, especially a check engine light at 77 miles :/ i will say that my challenger has worked flawlessly and its going to be a very sad day if i end up trading it in cuz i love it. but i'm getting a truck out of necessity and have too many kids for a muscle car (i had an early midlife crisis after someone sideswiped me and wrecked my 2009 jeep compass leading to the purchase of the challenger lol)
    great video though, very helpful for me in my research efforts

    Test drove a 5.7 Laredo pkg. yesterday and likely will buy within a week. I’m very surprised by your comment about power. I punched the one I drove and it was up to 75 in a flash. Would like to see a real 1/4 mile comparison between the turbo Ford and the 5.7 hemi. Nice video, thanks.

    • @PMPerformance
      @PMPerformance  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for watching.
      So my comments about power can be misleading to some as I am used to lots of high hp and forced induction vehicles. The feel of a blown or turbocharged vehicle to an N/A vehicle is considerably different. The powerbands are different. For better or worse, they are just different.
      From the getup, the 5.7 hemi isn't too shabby to be honest. I don't really have much complaints there, it is the while rolling and punch it that I do not think it has enough steam. That is where the turbos reign supreme.
      While this does not have a hard time towing, I still felt the Ecoboost towed more effortlessly. Granted my load was maybe half what it is now, but I would love to get my hands on another 2.7 with my current trailer load to see how it would feel for comparison.
      All that being said, whenever someone asks me how I feel about the truck, I love this thing to death. I almost hate to admit it because I was soo anti RAM prior to buying it, but really it is a damn nice truck. I have not been able to say that about my F150. It was just the engine and trans combo in that thing that kept me smiling. The rest was really mediocre at best.
      I think you will really enjoy the RAM. Good luck on the purchase!

    Also looking at similar options though it seems a bit difficult to find a ram with the adaptive cruise option, assuming it’s got something to do with it. With that said, would that lean you away from the purchase or could you live without it knowing it does have its glitches? They’re running around 6-7k below msrp right now. Very well spoken btw both in your video and your comments!

      My bet is because of component shortage. My friend just got an X3M that was missing weird options because they needed to get cars out, but couldn’t source certain things.
      IMHO, I could live without the adaptive cruise control. It’s a very nice feature, but I do not use it often enough personally, so I would not let that one deter me.

    Also, I'd recommend checking out the eTorque system you mentioned on there - it has a lot to do with the feel while breaking and acceleration, it might not just be a difference in break specs you're noticing. Also, how often do you tow? And are you as comfortable towing with a FI and lower capacity vs NA and higher capacity? Given this is your review and your experience, but I'm curious how much these factors influenced your overall opinion (if at all). Thanks for the review!

    ive had many 3.5 Eco boost motors and there fun to drive but in the long run its no better than a trusted v8 for gas mileage , I also traded in my 19 f-150 limited in for my first Ram because my last 3.5 HO ecoboost burnt 2 quarts of oil right at the first 1,000 miles and went through the hole oil consumption deal with ford and the dealer and either wanted to fix the issue so i said cya..my thoughts on both trucks would be that even though the f-150 is better too have fun with because of its weight and turbo engines i like my hemi with the 3.92 gears ...this thing gets up and goes and has already beat some newer f-150 trucks so the power is great ..but the interior the driving comfort is top priority for me ...ive also noticed that ive had almost nil issues except one glitch in my radio that was probably due to my old phone not compatible with the android system with my Ram Limited and for the ford it felt cheaper inside with materials and issues popping up like sunroof breaking back up camera not working , burning excessive oil from new witch i dont get with my new Ram. I have said it many times to many people. The turbo motors are nice but they have some draw backs. You mentioned no turbo lag and yes it does not seem to be but it takes time to spool up. I have been in my cousins truck and it gets up and goes once the rpms get up there which is great but now often are you going to be racing like that. Also there are more things to go wrong especially with TT. If that happens you are not able to do much as I have seen on many videos. Also when you start using that turbo your fuel consumption goes down it is a proven fact and thinking about it more air horsepower and all that takes more fuel. As the saying goes it is either eco or boost you cannot have both. On top of that with the smaller V-6 motor there is more wear over time compared to a V-8 if you keep your vehicle for a long period of time. Along with the maintenance to the turbos and what not that needs to be done over the natural V-8. Yes you get the extra power with the TT but that is about it. You can slip on a Turbot or Supercharger on the Hemi and get much more if you really wanted all that drag power. I have had 2 different ram trucks with the Hemi and this one is 6 1/2 years old and 80,000 on it and I have only done brakes and tires along with the oil changes. I know quite a few friends with both and all have been lucky on both sides. I think part of it is taking care of the vehicle. With the amount of vehicles that get put out each year it is like anything else you will get some bad ones in any of them no matter what.

Techs tried with foam but it leaked into the exhaust and the turbine bearing you can imagine the rest, not mentioning the high pressure fuel pump problems with all brands it also takes more force to turn the camshafts so the timing chains stretches and guides break. turbos use thinner or fewer piston rings to reduce friction so the engines will burn oil sooner and loose compression. If you want to keep your truck for 10 years plus stick with V8 I say. If you like the torque at low rpms it's going to cost you in the long run.
