A year ago I ordered a brand new RAM 1500 Laramie to be my daily driver! I had spent some time in a few of the latest RAM trucks, different trims and engines and really liked the overall experience. With air suspension, a great interior, plenty of tech and luxury, the Laramie seemed like a great choice for a very practical, utilitarian and premium daily vehicle. Especially given the atrocious state of the roads in the Midwest, brutal winters and need for practicality, a truck seemed like a great choice. After one year here is an update on my ownership experience, the things I found I loved and hated about the truck and the final verdict on the 2020 RAM 1500 Laramie!

Today is one month owning my 2021 Ram 1500 4x4 LongHorn Limited. I ordered mine also. I have not driven it much (180 miles). I replaced the Shitty 22 inch BADYEAR Touring Tires. With Michelin Defenders LTX I was waiting to get the Clear film. On the front, door edges and rear fender flares. And it took over a week to get the Mopar tonneau cover. I took a day pinstriping, the wheels. And butting on the Mopar Ram Splash Guards. And getting the windows tinted. I installed a CAI. And i just got the whole Truck Pro Ceramic coated. And custom Pinstriping on the side. Its Done now so i can Finally enjoy it.
I’m saving for the same one with everything except air suspension air suspension is not my thing
Ram engineers need a swift kick in the ass for making fuel tank size options; we all know you want to stop more often when on a long trip (said nobody EVER). Just put the largest tank on possible, done!
It does feel like a nickel-and-dime move…

I have a 2020 Big Horn with the Off Road package. Coming up to 100k. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned. It’s actually easier to drive than most cars, great sight lines all around the truck. I’ve had zero issues with it. I use the bed all the time, so much convenience.
I have the same truck and love it. I agree about the backup braking! I disabled that but kept the audible sensor on.
I definitely want to get another RAM, the interior and styling of the trucks are amazing. I’m allergic to car payments so maybe when I have the cash in hand I’ll consider it.
Same I might pay with cash or just finance one I’m definitely still gonna buy one but I’m definitely not doing the air suspension

If you want some nice suspension on the other trucks add the
off-road package for $1400 makes a big difference and you get extra protection underneath your truck like the Fx4 package on the Ford

I turned off my reverse breaking as well, going down a slanted driveway and having it go off constantly scaring the crap out of me.
So annoying! The horrible nose it would make is not great

Exactly the same issue with ours on the rear collision...turned it off as well. Otherwise I love this thing.....first truck as well.

Your videography is awesome! Love your setup! Quiet, not a lot of shaking, great voice volume. Love the angels of the different cameras you shot. What brand is the attachment to hold the 3 cameras? Do you love those? Was it a camera package or did you buy the cameras separate?

Haha. I had to shut off my rear braking assist also. Just like you I tolerated it a few times and then had to shut it off. Even an angled driveway that you’re reversing in it didn’t like
Haha me too! I think the sensors were picking up the the faint exhaust smoke in my situation. Idk but it was super annoying and disabled it after the second time it gave me whiplash lol.
I just picked up a 21 ram sport, a Canadian trim basically the same thing as a laramie, so far I really like it, I did get extended warranty but I probably won’t keep it more than a couple years
I love everything about the truck except the fact the interior scratches and scuffs so easy

My Ram is in the shop right now getting a new motor put in cause the cam went and shot metal through the whole motor. I miss it so much I'm just binge watching Ram reviews lol. Great trucks.

I’m actually gonna be saving up for a patriot blue or a flame red or a white ram 1500 with everything that I want except the air suspension I’m not a huge fan of the air suspension

I went yesterday (I know it was not under 2021 circumstances “chip shortage”) at a Dodge dealer, do you know how much they were asking? $5500 down and $950 monthly 🤦🏻♂️… yeah, I know… I just laugh and left the dealer. It was almost same truck (air susp, panoramic roof, Laramie, etc) and at $62K ($4K discount). So… I think you were a really lucky guy or you knew well the dealer manager. 😂

How in the world did you lease a almost 70k truck for 550 a month with 0 down? I’m looking at leasing a 2021 big horn that’s 54k and 3k down it’s 880 a month!! That’s insane. I’m not gonna do that haha.

You tend you lose a lot of money buying them outright and if you have a business you pay next to nothing. Especially after write offs.
$550 a month plus the probably $5000 he put down to lease. That’s over $10,000 when he could have bought it and resold for, at worst, a $4,000 loss instead of $10,000 loss

@@fatoni698 much wiser to use other peoples money as much as possible. Other people here = the bank. 2% interest to keep $60k+ worth of your own cash liquid is much smarter than dumping it into a depreciating asset that you can’t borrow against.
How many of us have a tick in the engine at startup that goes away after oil gets up to the cams n lifters. I do, 14,000 miles

I absolutely hate the dial shifter in my Ram......despise it like satin!.....always forgetting to put it in park so it auto corrects.....40yrs with column shifter is hard to adjust from.....other than that it sits really low....wish it was lil taller stock

No jerking problems? Mine around 1.5k rpms at a moderate slow speed (40 mph or less) steady throttle.. jerks like it doesnt know what gear to be in. Ever have something like that?

That rear braking assist is terrible. I can barely back into my garage in my grand cherokee without it going haywire and making me think i hit something.

I have a 2012 Ram 1500. I am considering using Toyota genuine motor oil 5w20 because of the great additive package and the fact that it is API SN rated. Anyone have any thoughts?
Best oil to use is Penzzoil Ultra Platinum, I use it on my car and recommend to my everyone. It has one of the best additive packages and wear protection out of any other synthetic oil. Project Farms made a video where he put a lot of oils against each other in various tests, such as heat cycling, evaporation, bearing wear test, etc. Amsoil came out on top, but it doesn’t have the best additive package and Penzzoil came out in a close second, but has all the ratings you’ll need and has great additives.

That’s a huge lie. Dodge offers super reliable vehicles these days. Had a ‘14 Charger R/T I bought with 26k on the clock traded in with 122k for a Camaro in 2020. Zero issues with it whatsoever throughout my 37 months of ownership, that’s right👌🏽Zero Buddy. Came with 5 year 100k power train from factory, and the brand was also very proactive at handling recalls(something all cars have these days).
Bought a new Ram 1500 LS/NE 3 days ago and it’s my very first brand new car because I trust the brand, and they actually stand behind their products. As the other guy mentioned here, if you take care of your Dodge vehicle, then it will last you well over 100k miles 👍🏽

Naw, I’m only stating the facts based on consumer reports.
Now, I will admit that some of not most of those consumers don’t take care of their vehicles with routine maintenances, but I’m sure just like your experience with a Chrysler fiat product, there are people who say the exact opposite and they themselves do regular maintenance.
Now, I will also agree that many cars(even the most reliable brands like Toyota and Honda) have been lacking in quality these days. And that’s do to the fact of lowering production costs of the products. Toyota for example; has had recalls on some of their 4Runners because of the bad fuel tanks they used in them which were produced by a third party company. So you are correct there.
But my comment is not a lie if you look at overall consumer reports and complaints of the company.

2020 laramie. The led lights, premium speaker, and pretty much any other good the big horn doesn’t have. The 20-22 models look exactly the same too.
