    I'm 6 ft 6in and I have the Honda ADV 150. What I did was bought some handlebar risers from Lazada to lift the handlebars higher so my knees are more comfortable. Plus I change the seat to a aftermarket flat seat so I can sit back a little farther and extra leg room for me.

    As for that issue by your buttons:
    I think someone needs to open the door next to the fuel button and use the key to tighten things up. Yes, there is a door next to that button that gives you access. 👍

    How long is the warranty on your bike? If it's still under warranty get it into the shop quick and get your problems repaired. If under warranty it should be free.

    You can buy foot pegs that extend outside the floor boards that will allow you to stretch out your legs which would solve one of your issues. I use them on my click and it makes a world of difference. The key problem is a bummer and Honda needs to fix that ASAP. I know it's not a good solution but buying a new switch and gas lid/hinge would fix your problem until they wear out again as they should be inexpensive. You are right these things shouldn't be going bad after just 1 year for the most expensive scooter in the 160cc class. I don't have these problems with my older key start Honda click 155i. Good luck I hope Honda fixes these issues.

    I have an adv 150 18000km on it so far in Vietnam no problems at all. The bike isn’t perfect but it’s excellent for this country. Yes my legs would like more space to stretch. I did extend the mirrors out. I know what my shoulders look like already. I will definitely buy another one.

    I bought the ADV 160 here in Thailand for 105,000 baht($3,000 USD)and I've taken it on 150km trips to Bangkok and back. I haven't had any issues with the key fob, fuel door or seat release button. The ADV is definitely made for smaller riders, I'm 5'10" 195lbs the bike is big enough but I can't stretch my legs but I understand I'm in Thailand it's really for shorter people than me. Gas mileage is excellent around 50km/l on highway. My only complaint is the plastic cover on the odometer scratches way too easy. I give the ADV 160 an 8 out of 10 especially since it's only 3k USD here in Thailand and/or Philippines. In the U.S. it's way over $4,500.
    I will replace my ADV 160 with a Honda 350 Forza in 2 years. The Forza is the Rolls Royce of scooters for crowded countries like Philippines and Thailand. The Honda ADV 750 is too big imho.

    I will buy an ADV 160 when I move to Sagbayan Bohol in July. I'm only 5'11" and 150 pounds though. The cap not opening can be fixed by removing some metal from the catch on it. The remote not detecting does sound bad though. I may change the flyballs in mine from the stock 19 gram to 16 gram for more low end torque at the expense of a little top speed and mpg.

    Really good and transparent review! Thx! Living in Thailand and about to purchase my first bike and it stands between this one or a Yamaha Aerox 155 ABS Y Connect and I was thinking about this one because longer distance riding etc, but as you mentioned, maybe better with a “smaller” bike and there is where the Aerox 155 comes in. Because I will buy a car also! Pros with the ADV 160 is the disc brake in the back, where the Aerox only has a drum brake.. Both of them got traction control which is useful during rain seasons and the Aerox I’m looking at has ABS disc brake on the front wheel!

    • @Kodnamn1337
      @Kodnamn1337 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Another pro is the Aerox cost about 600-700 USD less then the ADV 160 and despite the lack of rear disc brakes I think the Aerox might be a more “solid” bike due to quality (as you mentioned the buttons and the problem with the Honda keyless function).

    I have an N-max and I had the same problem as you regarding the seat and my height (182 cm..
    I have modified the seat so that there is not that strange level jump in the middle of the seat; because that's where my bottom is. And then I can stretch my legs. I have also had some stronger rear springs retrofitted as I am a fully grown Viking.
    In addition, I have a top box and side bags so there is room for things when I have been out shopping.
    I think the 155cc is sufficient for driving up the mountains as well. I don't think it's a problem. But my N-max is not suitable for off-road. But I love the automatic transmission.

  • @7mong61
    @7mong61 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    Thank you for your feedback. Fortunately, there is not that many Filipinos that are 6'2" in height. I think that with your size, you should have gotten a bigger sized bike like the ADV 350 instead or the 750. I will not place the blame on the bike if it doesn't fit you.

    With regards to the keyless function, I think the problem seems to be the fact that when the bike is in locked position, the key fob needs to be pressed first in order for you to activate the selector knob and turn on the bike. With regards to problems with the ride position, there is no solution since the bike is obviously not designed for a person your size. After all, it is marketed for Asians. For the other concerns like the fuel lid, yeah it may seem flimsy but it is still made of hardy plastic that can take a lifetime of abuse. Over-all there is no problem with the bike except that it is not suited for persons of your size and need. It is suggested that you choose other local maxi scooters like Honda PCX 160cc, Yamaha NMAX 155cc or the bigger Yamaha XMAX. Thank you for the review and please enjoy your time here in the Philippines.

    My biggest issue is that beside some cheap parts the ADV still just has a single channel ABS... While for example the cheaper Nmax (here in Indonesia 5 Mio IDR) has a dual ABS and traction control since 2020! That's a big security disadvantage, the problem is you will just realize it when you need it... But then it could be too late.

  • @paul5683

    I had an adv 150 . It was good for most things. My only problem with it was the speed/rev limiter that would make the engine cut out at 63 mph. The moment you got up to 63 mph the engine would act like the gas was being shut off. The bike would then slow down enough and then the power would come on again. This would happen all within a few seconds and it would keep doing that as long as you were trying to go full speed on the bike. That's highway speed and when I was traveling at full speed and then the bike would start bucking around with the power coming on and off with the rev/speed limiter trying to control the speed.

I ride regular motorcycles here in the United States and when I sit on a scooter I feel uncomfortable and unsafely out of balance. When it comes to a regular motorcycle I feel like I have better balance and more control over it as long as it's not too big to handle. Could be just cause I'm used to regular motorcycles.

For the keys not responding, all you need to do is just press the key in the remote, come on where you not oriented by the mechanic or the sales person where you got the Scooter? Lastly im also 6 feet, but you kinda heavier and in your case i think you need a bigger bike for the fit and to handle your weight. And funny: when I asked them if the sensor for the Key system is really in the board computer screen and if it really fix the problem, their were struggling giving a "yes". :-D
      So i will live with it from now on

    I really like this video, so I can better know what to look for when I move to PH next year. I think expats probably make the same mistake of just buying the coolest looking bike rather than researching which are actually best.

    As a rider of over 50 years and probably a couple dozen bikes, the most dangerous bike you can ride is one that is under powered. Fast enough to get you into trouble, but not fast enough to get you out of trouble with a twist of the wrist.

      That's right, with enough power on hand you can keep a safe distance to the bigger ones.

    Good review for those interested in the Honda ADV. That should help those unsure of what they should get. I am tall as well, and I do not like riding the scooters. I did not like my legs so high like you mentioned. I am used to riding a manual transmission motorcycle ,and the scooters don't handle the same as a motorcycle. For me I am going to get the Honda CB500X. It is already on order. 😀

😅 Grazie ancora. 🌾

    I got the Honda 160 PCX because when i went to my honda shop where i do business they didn't have a ADV .I've had the 2018 model Nmax , we now have the Honda PCX , Click 125 and 2 TMX 150 with custom sidecars . My PCX is new , I've had it 5 months now and my gas lid is hard to open when i push the button i have to hold it and pull up on the lid to open . Check out the ADV 750

      Honda made a water cooled aluminum frame 50 metropolitan that was a winner. Could not even hear it start or run. Of course it was discontinued.

      @berndkopp6172 to be honest I like the Honda Goldwing but when it comes to touring bikes I prefer Harley (road glide) but Unfortunately I dont think here in Bohol is a Harley Davidson shop (mechanics) so yeah I think a Goldwing would be the better option. :-D

    I was in Bohol last august and rented a t-maxx and oh my ass hurt after 1 hr.. I was hoping scooters I wouldn’t get ass sore with such large seat. I drove down that road aswell..just outside Anda..is a good ride into the hills and saw a dead python in the road.
