From personal experience a lot of men will shut you down when they put their ego before your pleasure. If you tell him he is not doing something right, if it feels bad, he's too fast, too rough, changing positions and speed, stopping and starting, all the things that suck, he will get butt hurt and blame you. I delt with that for a while. We used to do the dance also. I would avoid having sex, he would get pushy and needy. Eventually I just told him I don't want to have sex anymore unless its good for me. And if that means we don't have sex for the rest of the year so be it. He dropped the ego real quick and started to actually listen to what I wanted and to actually try his best. Its not perfect yet but its miles away from where we started.

They had many businesses together, all got divided, she ended up with a number of houses/apartments over the the years, he ended up with depts galore, being bankrupt, therfore he has nothing. When he could afford it he rented a crappy apartment and at the ended homeless. She took him in, now she wants a partner like a hubby, no sex mind, he wants freedom like a single guy. Happy...??? It’s his job, a lot of cops have the same intimacy issue. Cops have a 70% divorce rate. My brother was a police officer and I have friends that are officers as well.

As a woman, I would hate to be with a man who doesn’t show emotions. It doesn’t need to be an either/or extreme. There’s a time when emotion is necessary. If a partner can’t handle the other’s emotions, they are the problem, not the one being truthful about their feelings.

However I think it would be a little difficult to accomplish since I believe most callers here are seeking help without their partner’s knowledge, because they are near their last straw, they are desperately seeking the help they so badly need because their partners either are clueless or refuse to address the situation. Yes!! This year has been crazy, and we've learned a lot about ourselves and each other. After nearly 24yrs we are closer then we have ever been and our intimacy is better then it was when we were dating. We both feel safe and secure. Ya, he's extremely good at getting people to say "here is my problem" then gets them to spill out basically why the problem may be coming out from the partners end.
These situations would be so much easier to deal with if people were able to communicate well with each other. Not to imply that's an easy thing, it's very difficult, but really worth the effort. If you can't effectively communicate with words early on in a relationship, how can you expect to be able to resolve issues with that person in the short or long-term? Establish effective communication now, it won't get easier as the relationship progresses.
It suddenly got scary because she doesn't know how to be vulnerable herself, because she's afraid she's gonna be hurt by someone she loves. But when you truly love someone, sometimes you gotta take the risk, the plunge. And if it ends in heartbreak, at least y'all tried.

And if a guy doesn’t know how to really please a woman by marrying age he’s likely never going to. Same with a woman. If your partner doesn’t bring what you truly desire to the bedroom, you have to be honest with yourself and end it before tying the knot. This is a huge reason so many people cheat. “Sex isn’t everything.” Sure, but great sex is required for an actually fulfilling longterm relationship/marriage. People might disagree, but I guess it also depends what your goals are for marriage. Is this basically a business and life partnership or is this a burning love that you had to make official. I don’t consider business/life partnership an actual marriage, or at least not one based on the right things. Your life partner should be your dream guy/girl. From your eyes. Sex is between two people. You both have to be willing to work on what feels good for both of you. Women actually love sex too. And mental is 80% of it. Even trying to teach them to be more sensual in kissing is an outright insult. My ex.husband was extremely passive aggressive and his weapon of choice for nearly 6 years (& during both my pregnancies) was sexual withholding (& any form of kind word, sympathy or non sexual touching or hugging). Some people are Intimacy Anorexics via childhood trauma and they actually feel joy at denying you and become addicted to that feeling of control and power. I know many men suffer but when its a woman it feels a double shame. Not that it mattered but I am.also v petite and never put on weight at all in pregnancy and was told by his friends on occasion how "beautiful" i was. I later learnt he was a compulsive p*** addict and into extreme bdsm. I once suggested we watch together and he even refused that. These people.decieve you for years and you keep trying. I spent 3 years in marital therapy where he kept blaming me for everything and even to the point where he accused me of deliberately causing my own miscarriages through not drinking a certain amount of water...(in fact I had a blood clotting condition which was the cause but he refused to accept the diagnosis!). The therapist actually always agreed with him because I was constantly defensive trying to return his version of life to what was factually correct. Therapy for him was another means to have a second person join in on the bullying (& emotionally punish me later for everything I revealed about him in the session). I hope this lady doesn't spend more than 6 months on trying as it almost destroyed me to keep trying for those years, meanwhile I was raising a small child, a new born, taking care of an elderly father with dementia (no siblings and my.mother passed young) and working a high stress job (he had spent 4 years trying to launch an entrepreneurial career which failed so I was the sole financial support for everything). That in itself caused massive resentment as his mother would regularly join into to bully me (as he told her everything including me complaining about our sex life!l). Severely enmeshed emotionally incestuous relationship but got worse over time as he began to project all his feelings of hatred from his mother to me, the minute I gave birth to our firstborn. Similar to the revisulsion Elvis had to Pricilla after she got birth. No one but no one understands how isolated and lonely you are, also what it does to your self esteem. The Doctor should also stress she should never compromise her own well being to endlessly keep trying. 6 months of deliberate trying to effect change or she must act decisively or it will truly break you.

Yeah, my wife makes dinner too and she does laundry and she tells me she loves me. I don't believe it for a second. We share household duties in raising kids and she doesn't do anything she wouldn't do if she was single. Other than her words, there's absolutely nothing that tells me she loves me and words are meaningless. If after 15 years with her she came at me with this, I certainly wouldn't go along. I would be very distrustful that this came out of nowhere and why now vs all along when I used to complain about this?

However I think it would be a little difficult to accomplish since I believe most callers here are seeking help without their partner’s knowledge, because they are near their last straw, they are desperately seeking the help they so badly need because their partners either are clueless or refuse to address the situation. Now I don’t mean every case is like this but a large number are.

Yes!! This year has been crazy, and we've learned a lot about ourselves and each other. If you can't effectively communicate with words early on in a relationship, how can you expect to be able to resolve issues with that person in the short or long-term? Establish effective communication now, it won't get easier as the relationship progresses.

My ex.husband was extremely passive aggressive and his weapon of choice for nearly 6 years (& during both my pregnancies) was sexual withholding (& any form of kind word, sympathy or non sexual touching or hugging).
Some people are Intimacy Anorexics via childhood trauma and they actually feel joy at denying you and become addicted to that feeling of control and power.
I know many men suffer but when its a woman it feels a double shame. Not that it mattered but I am.also v petite and never put on weight at all in pregnancy and was told by his friends on occasion how "beautiful" i was.
I later learnt he was a compulsive p*** addict and into extreme bdsm. I once suggested we watch together and he even refused that.
These people.decieve you for years and you keep trying. I spent 3 years in marital therapy where he kept blaming me for everything and even to the point where he accused me of deliberately causing my own miscarriages through not drinking a certain amount of water...(in fact I had a blood clotting condition which was the cause but he refused to accept the diagnosis!).
The therapist actually always agreed with him because I was constantly defensive trying to return his version of life to what was factually correct.
Therapy for him was another means to have a second person join in on the bullying (& emotionally punish me later for everything I revealed about him in the session).
I hope this lady doesn't spend more than 6 months on trying as it almost destroyed me to keep trying for those years, meanwhile I was raising a small child, a new born, taking care of an elderly father with dementia (no siblings and my.mother passed young) and working a high stress job (he had spent 4 years trying to launch an entrepreneurial career which failed so I was the sole financial support for everything).
That in itself caused massive resentment as his mother would regularly join into to bully me (as he told her everything including me complaining about our sex life!l). Severely enmeshed emotionally incestuous relationship but got worse over time as he began to project all his feelings of hatred from his mother to me, the minute I gave birth to our firstborn. Similar to the revisulsion Elvis had to Pricilla after she got birth. No one but no one understands how isolated and lonely you are, also what it does to your self esteem.
The Doctor should also stress she should never compromise her own well being to endlessly keep trying. 6 months of deliberate trying to effect change or she must act decisively or it will truly break you.

Yeah, my wife makes dinner too and she does laundry and she tells me she loves me. I don't believe it for a second. We share household duties in raising kids and she doesn't do anything she wouldn't do if she was single. Other than her words, there's absolutely nothing that tells me she loves me and words are meaningless. If after 15 years with her she came at me with this, I certainly wouldn't go along.
