Eat The Book and Simon did well to stay out of the wreckage at that flight where the other horses went down. They got a bit tangled but came through well. Well done all the way round, congratulations.
On behalf of my brother Simon may I say a massive thank you for all the lovely comments. He is indeed an inspiration to all the aspiring athletes and people who want to achieve any goal. Never give up. Even when he was a young lad anything he pursued he gave his full commitment to achieving it. Horses were his first love, after his wife Anne of course, whom he has two daughters with, Laura and Hannah. He inspired his love of animals to Hannah, who went on to study Zoology at UCD . During his 40 years having the odd horse with my father Liam, I can genuinely say that I dont think they ever put any of their horses to sleep. Mostly got homes for them, or if their temperament was steady enough they gave the horse to a good owner ,who might hunt or jump with them. Living in Dublin was not ideal for Simon as he had to travel to ride out 3 to 4 mornings a week. I remember him telling me that Lorcan Wyer, back in the 1980 s told him he must be the only Owner getting a bus to the yard to ride his horse out, at the time he could not afford a car. Looking forward to the next outing with Eat the book, whom , by the way, got his name when he ate half the sales catalogue book that was mistakenly left in his stable , after he was bought at Tattersalls.
Yes indeed.. Fantastic result for the"Dude"👍☘️ All of that "Hard work" (in both fields) and he looks pretty content ,is keeping him looking fit&Healthy,! ...P.s..Now this is a genuine interesting story,as opposed to all.of the BS about Celebs an so called "Social media influencers"..
That is correct, he doesn't look nowhere near 60, WOW, great storyline about nearly giving up, just shows that unless fatal, keep them and look what they can do, actually like the storyline to the Seabiscuit storyline..basically broken horse, giving time to heal, and you all know what happened with Seabiscuit...this is different, because it's our generation....
God Bless you Simon and your beautiful horse. Congratulations from America!!! I am Mexican raised by a wonderful Irish family. Can't wait to see you again, you are a true inspiration. Horse racing is topsy turvy right now. Rich Strike and this video I saw today.
Extraordinary stuff! A brave horse under a committed patient ride that earned a just reward. Age is ageless when there are such combinations of body and spirit. Bravo.
Wow, congratulations, Mr. Condon. Extraordinary to see you upset the field and show your mastery of horses in that way. I hope you have a good day today because you made mine better
This is a truly great story of perseverance not only by the jockey, but for the trainer and for the horse as well. Well done all!! Brilliant interview as well by both.
I talked myself out of backing this before the race in favour of the favourite who fell. I saw it drift to 66s in running and jumped on a 40s when I saw it slicing through the field. A lesson for us all, don't let the price distract you. Excellent ride, great story, he looks good for 59.
Absolutely brilliant what an truly amazing win,you did well to stay on when those horses fell well sat👍congratulations I’m so pleased for the whole team...a fairytale 😇🐎❤️
He's my big brother and by god does he deserve this. He absolutely loves horses, lives for them.I remember him balling his eyes out watching Phar lap years ago!! Can't actually believe it,what a day.😄😀
Great result auld yin, hope you enjoyed your day? I must say I really enjoyed the cheeky wee look round tye last bend before the last...brilliant auld yin.
Reminds me of Lester when he came out of retirement at 59 to ride an incredible finish in the Breeders cup and win on Royal Acadamey,We'll done young man
Lester was 54 when he resumed raceriding. He did hung up his boots for good aged 57. A handful of jockeys went on till their late fifties but they kept riding all the way.
Imagine if he was 89 not 59 he would of got off the horse after the win... and right into a wheelchair... Great ride SIMON Wow... 1st time in the winners circle......
Very well done to Simon Condon, well deserved win and a great post race interview. Would be interesting to know the highest price traded in-running. Had advised a selection in this race on my channel, the eventual third ‘Good World’
Considering it went out at 40/1 industry SP and 92.53/1 Betfair SP, it's no surprise it traded significant money at the max price in-running. I don't know how much but all I know is over £100 was traded at 1000.
Knowing there's no one behind you, and you are going to win your first race, on a horse you actually own. That's the stuff of dreams, almost like winning your first classic.
I think the horse enjoyed running at the back of the pack in the early part of the race. When the jockey asks him to run in the final stretch he responded and took the win by safe margin. Great run Eat the Book 🐎🐎🐎
Have you seen some of the results in Ireland of late , 09000PFP winning, and horses 150/1 last run , pops in..... Nothing surprise me, but hats off to the Jockey here.
Hold on there a mo. .he is not a pensioner. He is not 60 yet ..he's the same age as me. We are not past it yet! Great ride tho. Took some nerve to come from the back , keep the horse quiet and gradually come thro the field. Well done sir! Well deserved

Well done Simon, good man! Aside from the win itself, people should note that this outdoor lifestyle makes a 60yo man look about 40 at most!! 😉👍👌
There is hope for us all after seeing this guy ride a winner at his age🙂👍congratulations 👏
Well done Simon, unbelievable win for you and a great interview afterwards 👏
What a beautiful story, both man and horse.
The best thing about this is that it should remind people that first and foremost this is a sport! Good luck to him and the connections.

What a great man! Truly a class act. A great horse as well.
The interview was just as good as the race.
congratulations. makes me want to get back on a horse aged 53 after losing Apache in 2005.
You won't regret it.
Anyone who knows or remembers Anneli Drummond Hay. She is still show jumping at the age of 83. Riding keeps your body flexible and supple.
Anneli was an eventer first and won Badminton and the first Burghley and came 2nd 5 times! Then showjumped.
Well that was some feckin' achievement and a great story on the horse, hats off to you Simon 👏👏👏
and he actually looked ok......59 wow....brilliant
The magic of Irish racing.nice story hope he can follow up .(looks like he can )
The horse was different class.
