Anya didn’t want the Hammer back online because she was there with Prescott, when he ordered Hammer Strikes on civilians populated areas in a desperate attempt too stop the Locust.
While Anya’s justification is understandable but like Marcus said: It’s not the weapon that kills people. It’s the people who used it.
If you think about why Oppenheimer tried to please the President of not to misuse the Atomic Bombs, then the Hammer of Dawn are like nuclear weapons but they are the last resort we needed to protect ourselves.
The worst part is, the Hammer Strikes bought the COG time.
That and the Locust were "dead" no point of keeping the orbital death lasers around when the enemy they were made for was dead.
Jinn's argument falls apart there.
If Anya knew about the Swarm she would have probably wanted it back online

There's something more about what killed Anya, one of the hidden collectables was an interview with Jinn asking if she feels personally responsible, and she kinda waves it off.

@@VideoGameSophistry The weapon is doing what it was designed to do. It's the person behind the controls that directs it. The blame for any act carried out with the asset lies with the person who utilized it. It's pretty simple. The only argument against the Hammer of Dawn that is completely valid is that it is old and out of date and desperately needs replecement. The guidance systems and GPS are screwed. The fatalities inflicted on C.O.G. forces proves that.

While I do believe Anya would've been against the reactivation of the Hammer of Dawn, she definitely wouldn't have wanted to be buried with the Allfathers. I agree with Marcus, she'd rather want to be buried with her family.

See I think jinn has her and Anyas kid held captive somewhere so she can be first minister. Jinn was jealous and wanted to be first minister. I think she faked anyas death. This could be another Adam fenix situation where marcus thinks Anya is dead but she isnt. Marcus thought his father was dead but wasnt. He was held captive.

Considering the lengths the locusts went to try and wipe out humanity its pretty clear why the hammer is needed even if its a horrific weapon, and marcus is right. It's not the weapon but who uses it.
To be fair, Jinn makes some good points. They're not points the heroes agree with, but that doesn't make them invalid.
True, but the fact of the matter is that they are not careful and don't start going on the offense, the COG(and humanity) will right back where it was during the Locust Wars: on the edge of extinction fighting to hold what little ground they have left.
Idk man. I get her following what Anya wanted regarding the hammer, but I'm assuming that the only reason she never wanted the hammer to be activated was because it would be used on humans in some pointless future war.
If she knew the locust would come back one day, I'm 100% sure Anya would not HESITATE to immediately bring the hammer back online to use it againt the returning threat.
@@subjectdelta17 Maybe, maybe not. I have a feeling Anya might have drilled the rule NEVER USE THE HAMMER on Jinn. Since the Locusts were no longer supposed to be a threat anymore, she probably made it clear she considered it an ironclad law.
What I think is that Jinn gernuinely respected Anya as a mentor and is trying to live up to her example. Its possible, even probable, that Anya showed quite a few ruthless moments. Rebuilding the world must have meant a large share of compromises and decisions Anya would not have made as a Gear.
Also, it's a forgotten tidbit that Jinn was a Stranded in her youth and saw the Hammer's devastation from the side being shot at. In most people, it would create a deep loathing of the Hammer of Dawn.
@@Ares99999 Well the COG did use it on their own cities with locust and their own citizens to guaranteed everyone’s safety even though it didn’t work. Anya was in the room when they ordered those strikes which really screwed up her mind (GOW 3 Griffin tower mission) I think Anya was more afraid of the hammer being active without threat from locust/swarm than using it against on humans without repeating the cycle
I know I’m a year late but what points are you referring to? If you’re referring to the number of lives that have been lost due to the hammer of Dawn while that is true it’s also not completely accurate.
Really wish Anya was still here she and Sergeant Fenix were such a sweet looking couple rest easy Major Stroud sir you will be miss very very much by Delta squad brothers and sisters in arms 100% indeed right Gears brothers and sisters in arms if you get my point all the way indeed!

Jinn being a former stranded and wanting Anya and her legacy to be on the same level of the all fathers is understandable but Marcus also has his right in believing strongly in having her buried on the Stroud Estate. Reminds me of the Karen Traviss novels.
Even worse. Anya HATED the Allfathers. They forced her to launch a Hammer of Dawn that nuked the entirety of Seran Human settlement
They started TWO wars, against UIR and Locust/Lambent and just before she died, a civil war among COG government fighting for position left by Prescott and his finest staff.

Even though gears has been a downhill plummet ever since 3 I think Jin gets a little too much hate seeing as she’s just doing her job and viewing things as numbers seeing as she isn’t a soldier and she isn’t that power hungry or very narcissistic
Propably Marcus was just grieving that he lost Anya. We all were.
We should also note that Jinn was heavily traumatized by the Locust War during her childhood which had an impact on her decisions as First Minister. She sent an army and a vulture again the Fenix Family because she knows they can’t get caught easily. Plus, Outsiders keep invading her settlements and having DBs guard the settlements avoided a war with the Outsiders (prevent actual gear soldiers from getting killed)
@@PodreyJenkin138 The Outsiders are kind of hypocrites. They want to be independent from the fascist COG yet they keep stealing resources from them. That is not actual independence. The only conclusion I see to Gears is Kait using the hive mind to free the human consciousnesses within the Swarm. This will cause the Swarm to destroy their Locust leaders and make peace with humanity.

Myrrah (now resurrected as Queen Reyna) has a grudge against humanity due to her life as a COG lab rat. She likely didn’t reveal the truth because she wants the Locust to fight an actual war not divided small factions (Locusts are like violent Vikings)

Well at least jinn wanted to repopulate planet sera with the program she was doing, unlike Prescott who abandoned the cog for almost a year.
He was bringing lambent samples to Adam. There were breeding programs under Prescott, young girls where given more rations than civilian men and were given hormones by age 10. Jinns breeding therapy was more humane.
And the fact he was willing to kill his own troops who "knew too much"
To be fair Prescott didn’t completely abandon the COG. He was working very closely with the Scientists including Adam Fenix to create a device that can kill all infected lifeforms including the Locust.

Fun fact: Jinn was a stranded in her childhood. A majority of the new COG leaders are war veterans or childhood victims of the Locust War. She literally grew up in a battlefield. Plus, the soldier did have to talk slowly in his report.

Every time Jinn showed up in this game and the previous one all I wanted to do was punch her. She refuses to listen to what the people on the ground are actually saying. And she is so absorbed in her own ego that it’s almost painful.
I really don’t like the fact that they had Anya die between the third and fourth games. I think she was the glue that really was holding Marcus together.
I think Anya being recognized as a figure as great as the Allfathers is one of the coolest pieces of dialogue in the franchise for sure

Anya is a touchy subject for him. She died because she participated in Jinn's fertility program and had complications with her second child. In my opinion, Marcus is angry at her but knows she's right about the fertility program being a good thing, which only makes him more angry.
To me, it looked like Jinn was name dropping Anya to get her way with Marcus, because she knows how much he loved her. Jinn was being manipulative and Marcus said, "fuck that".

It used to, but I’d imagine that the COG initially sought (and found) an alternative fuel source for the Hammer once all the Imulsion went inert (and people finding out about its true parasitic nature).
As for alternative weapons to replace the Hammer, with the Locust & Lambent gone there was no need to keep such weapons at all, with the Swarm only being a recent emergence by the time of the video’s conversation to warrant the idea of bringing such weapons back into the fold.

I’m confused by how Anya actually died. The games obviously make it seem like a medical complication with the fertility program. But I’ve seen like 50 people say she was killed by DBs in an “accident” that was rigged by Jinn. Can someone tell me where that theory came from?
But... Hammers are powered by imulsion? Which is all gone?
I hope after EDay game releases we get Both Gears of war 2 and 3 ultimate editions, and than maybe a DLC on the Pendulum Wars, i miss the series its actually been up and down recently but atleast its been entertaining and enjoyable unlike halo which has become kind of a burden
Honestly i loved the first and last chapter of gears 5. I dodnt need those open world missions tho, just give me more of that juicy scripted, high polish stuff.

They are making a prequel so 6 is even better. They will try to master the felling of e day and bring it to gears 6. They say eday will shape the future of the franchise. My guess is we might get another trilogy after 6 so 4 5 6 ( introduction of the swarm and lore ) 7 8 9 ( full war against the swarm like the og trilogy / timeskip )

One thing I really like about gears 4 and 5 is the armor designs is not exaggeratedly big as compared to the previous trilogy. It makes you feel like it's a real world suit that looks every tactical

@@kevinfanning8027 the swarm are very much different from the locust. The swarm drones are created from humans. They abduct humans and place them in pods then juvies come out of those pods then those juvies go into nests and then become drones. Only the Scions are original locust but even they’re much different from before. Not only are they bigger and more durable they’re able to biologically make swarm drones stronger. Not to mention all the swarm creatures are nothing like the locust creatures from before except for maybe the Swarmak. There are snatchers and carriers and pouncers and flocks and there was that giant creature at the end of Gears 4 and the Kraken in gears 5. Myraa had a daughter before she decided to rule the locust and go underground. She had her daughter when she was still in the lab at Mount Kadar. You’re also wrong about halo too. You have the mindset of someone who can’t let go of the past.
