Since then Gahyeon has rapped on "Breaking Out" and "Scream" and although she doesn't consider herself a permanent "sub-rapper" it seems that is a role she is good at. Meanwhile SuA is actually quite a good freestyle rapper - she's shown her skills during some variety shows - but she just doesn't want to focus on it; she is much more into choreography development. MINX is a very mixed subject for the Dreamcatcher girls. Obviously the flop and disbandment was harsh, and JiU and Siyeon took it particularly hard. As leader JiU felt like she had personally failed - the company, the members and herself - and to this day she is very emotional at fan events. Siyeon was very uncomfortable with the concept - obviously it's really not any more explicit than some other girl groups but she felt very sexualized (she was 19 when this was filmed) from some of the camera angles, and while she WILL still wear crop tops and shorts on occasion, she actively dislikes doing so. Dami was only 17 when they debuted as MINX, and although I can't remember her ever talking about the experience, she seems MUCH more comfortable with her current concept and role. Happyface learned a lot from the flop and how the members felt, and have given the members of Dreamcatcher a great deal more control over their wardrobes and presentation. one funny occasion to add: during Sua's birthday vlive, she was at a karaoke bar with Jiu and Siyeon and they were searching for "Love shake" to sing but the song list didn't have it😂😂
They actually had the same positions in Minx as they do in Dreamcatcher! The only position change was Dami no longer being the Maknae because of Gahyeon being added.

MINX cute and sexy-ish concept was heavily influenced by their older sister group Dal☆Shabet! Dal☆Shabet was known for switching between the cute to sexy to cute/sexy concepts every comeback, and it became a staple of the group's appeal. MINX was supposed to up hold that legacy, but after a majority of the members came forward to their company saying they didnt feel like they could show all they had to show with the current concept the company did a complete 180 with the group. Thus, leading to Dream Catcher!
I've seen a lot of DreamCatcher fans talk down about this song and these times as if it was a bad thing but honestly, I don't think this was a bad song or debut. It just came at a bad time, a lot of things happened in the Kpop world in late 2014 good and bad that overshadowed this. Plus 2014 was when we really started to see a rise in the brighter "cute" groups. Its always safe to follow the trend and debut a group with a concept that's currently popular (which is why we see a lot of Girl Crush lately), but the drawback is, you risk not standing out. They could've stuck it out and continued with Minx in hopes of something hitting it big down the road, but that means pouring in more money in to the group with ok success. But instead. HappyFace Entertainment chose to scrap the group and restructure them from scratch and they became DreamCatcher. In a way, that's a bigger gamble since now you're not going with what's proven to work for the market ("Cute/Innocent" concept) and instead doing something that's never really done before so you don't know how people will receive it. Even now, I feel like Korea is still iffy on DreamCatcher, but thankfully in they grabbed international audience's attention and this worked in the company's favor in the end. Plus I'm pretty sure majority of Dreamcatcher weren't really fond of the concept to begin with and I'm sure Dami is glad to not be the maknae.
I think I get why many fans talk bad about it, not just because of the opposite difference between Dreamcatcher and MINX. MINX's concept is cute for sure, but I think Happyface Ent at that time failed to make it more refreshing. Now what I mean is that they put some "sexy" elements to the overall cute concept, but the product after all looked quite a mess. It made me feel cringey at some points for real. And to be honest, the members look awkward expressed their concept through the song too.

Remarkable how well-executed the vocals and choreo are and how catchy the song itself is, even when the concept wasn't noteworthy enough to get them any attention. Still super glad that Happyface realized that the problem was the concept and timing and not the girls, so they redebuted them with DC's waaay better style instead of giving up entirely. Huge props to the studio for having that kind of foresight.

Minx just had a bad timming . They debuted at times when a lot of new groups that now are very famous debuted.
