Vince upon your opening statement you definitely are “too cool for school“ this was a really good unbiased review, I am an HVAC contractor and I chose the rigid fourpiece system totaling $156, that also included the small parts box for the top for screws wire nuts and what not. I watched a lot of reviews on these and these systems are a blessing for tradesmen it saves at least 100 trips a day to the truck. Thanks for putting out A really good unbiased video, in my opinion the ridge it stands right along side of Milwaukee pack out, the only flaw I saw with Milwaukee was a $279 price tag for three pieces but that’s my opinion and no matter what system you getThey constantly expand and upgrade their boxes for different needs , it’s a no lose situation

Ridgid boxes have been on my truck for 3 years now and I own way more than 10 of them .The boxes have water proof seals with one problem they aren't glued well that's it . If it gets hot out the seals fall out of the tracks oops I got plenty of glue tubes lol . Easy fix nothing to get upset about lol . I can beat them up all day long, I can power wash em off if I chose. I know using the latches to force close an overstuffed box won't break this magnificently designed boxes latch points . Try em you will like em

The problem I've found with all of these for a serviceman is: besides the top unit there is no access to lower units. It's extremely irritating to have to constantly lock and unlock and remove and put back. The dewalt makes a decent step toward gaining access. If they made the inside accessible without having to break them all apart whether a fall out panel or drawers, I'd buy in a flat second. Until then I'd rather buy a dolly and milk crates.

I am a remodeling contractor. I do a lot of big jobs using a variety of tools depending upon what trade I'm doing that day/week. I was an early adapter to DeWalt's tough system. What a mistake. Hardly looked at Milwaukee based upon the $279 price. I uped the ante and purchased the mobile racking system for the Dewalt tough System. Both the rolling set up. Have a dozen small boxes for electrical parts/ screws/bolts/nails. My rolling box broke when stuffing too many tools on it. The yellow connection tabs have broken. My Mobile rack cannot get more arms to fill out the 7' space. What a bummer after an extensive install. What drives me nuts is the box connection system. It hurts my hands.
After my wheeled cart broke I broke down and purchased the Pack Out setup from HDepot on sale. $199. Sooooo much better. No more fighting the box separation issues! Stronger 3 box rolling system. A much better system. Knowing what I know now, I disagree with your assessment that it is not worth the higher price. If you are a tradesman using this every day, you should be earning enough that the difference in price over the expected life of each system totally justifies the packet. Even more so if you are getting older and the damn yellow tabs actually hurt your hands to clip and unclip. Oh and try buying the tabs after they break. Now you just lost the savings the Tough System offered.

I like my Rigid System. Still going strong after a couple days. I traded in my DeWalt 12 drawer flip case for the Clear Top Gear Case from Rigid. Saved 5 dollah! With a little hollah! Glad I made the move. Still have the smaller/thinner DeWalt TS Accessory/Small Tools case. Not giving that up, That's for tinkering.

The best one is Ridgit system because you can use it for anything. It does not have extra plastic cubes sticking around as attachment base structure.
Turn DeWalt or Milwaukee up side down and think why you need all these empty/useless area grids.

The old geezer that trained me gave me a 5 gallon bucket with a hammer, prybar, utility knife,1 philips, 1 flathead, a pack of cigs. with 1 cig , 1 joint. He told me if I used anything else he would tell the owner to fire me after the day was accounted for. Scope of work was 1 foot flood cuts with carpet/pad removal + lower cabinet inspection. At the end of my first day he gave me a lighter to smoke. RIP John G. I truly owe that man pack of smokes in the after-life. I have a career now because of him.

Vince I'd recommend reading reviews from the Home Depot, Lowes or Amazon websites. The manufacturer websites always seem to only have 1 or 2 have lame reviews that's you're not even sure are legit. At Home Depot and Lowes there can be hundreds of reviews and you can get a better idea of how many customers are satisfied - or dissatisfied with a tool or product.
Great reviews. Keep up the great work!

I chose Ridgid. Reason being, I can get away with modifying it the way I need and not feel the pain of ruining a premium Packout box 😆.
But really though, I bought several of the Ridgid crates and turned one into a portable fridge, cut the front side off 2 and put shelves in them, and another into a vacuum using HDs bucket lid Vac.
Next thing I plan on doing is making some Ridgid-to-Packout compatible plates. Milwaukees modularity is amazing and definitely unmatched, however Ridgids affordable and equally durable boxes are the perfect blank slates for the DIYers with an obsession for modification.

I purchased the Rigid system and was able to buy the tool box crate at Home Depot. I found this review informative, but the rankings were subjective. No criteria for the 1 through 5 ranking was stated. A key ranking criteria should have been cost; cost is always a major factor in making a choice. Each system has its pro’s and con’s. PersonalIy, I would stay away from systems with plastic latches. For years, I used the spackle bucket with a pocket pouch insert. Finding tools (especially small ones) was challenging at times. I doubt you can wrong with any organizer that saves you time and is rugged, expandable and affordable.

Festool really is more of a Van / Shop storage system with the ability to move stuff out onto site. Whereas Milwaukee and Dewalt are more job site centric. Bosh has never managed to get out of the "for casual users" image it's put it's self into over the years.
I also use the Stanley FatMax system for on site tool carrying, costs less than a full system, is really secure and easy to move around. I just had to rubberize the wheels, because I'm a Luxury Boat finisher and mold repair guy at the place I work.

VCG Gang: This video gave me a ton of value in my delema! Thank You! I am a helicopter mechanic by trade and recently started traveling across the country for the govt. I have been looking for a solution that encompasses tool organization and can load and download easily as well as take a beating from the traveling. Tool organization is a must for me. In Govt Aviation quick look inventory is a requirement. I have looked into the popular travel kits by Pelican and Snap-on and simply am not impressed or willing to pay $900 for a case that has 8 drawers 1 inch deep. I believe through a couple well known tricks of stacking foam inserts and the modular design of the Milwaukee Packout really lends itself to my needs! Thanks again for the video!

Ive been using the rigid for about a year. Beside the bottom base being replaced for the handle, theyve been great! The one flaw is the handle. Other than that for around half the price of the Milwaukee, you wont be disappointed. Ive seen and heard from 1 other that the wheels on the Milwaukee have broken often so that MAY be the weak spot on them though not poss.

I kind of thought of the boxes by trade:
High end custom builder, High end finish carpenter (sharing tools with the home shop): Festool Systainer.
All construction trades building track homes: Rigid kit and a Knack box & Gen bolted into rig.
    The organized Handyman: Dewalt kit
Low-voltage guys carrying more equipment than what a tech carries in his/her pouches: Bosch system
Electrician (contractor), Plumber (contractor), HVAC (contractor) Closet Co., Audio/Video (Contractor) Etc.: Milwaukee kit
Welder: Custom tig welded stainless boxes that he built himself to suit his EXACT needs, because he can. The Miller is on the rig.

Everyone else has a bug tote with attached wheels. I have consistently dropped, banged against and used as step stools, my dewalt tough system. It stands up to its name.

There are a LOT of different makes that either have a trolley /carrier / sack-truck kit with 3 boxes or you can build onefrom the range: Dewalt DS Tough system with the heavy duty rack trolley (boxes pull out from middle of stack) is about £300, Dewalt Tstak Tower about £235, Stanley Fatmax (Tstak) similar £? Milwaukee Packout £270, Festool / Systainer (Tanos) & Bosch / Sortimo L-boxx about £250, Makita Makpac (old type systainer?) £200 (4 boxes), Reisser Fullstack about £220, Trend about £160 (4 boxes), Ridgid about £160, etc etc. etc. Ridgid (waterproof) looks good value in this company but I've never seen one...
The main issue is how strong is the trolley /cart? We've all seen the broken airport suitcases with crappy plastic handles etc. And, how good are the catches on the boxes? Just a flimsy little plastic pin holding them in place? No-one wants a load of useless boxes with broken catches on a trolley that doesn't work after a few uses.

Older video I know but interesting none the less. I've been tied into the Festool/Tanos Systainers since 2012 and they are pretty durable and pretty convenient but not a cheap system to buy into. And if you have ever seen vehicles in the UK outfitted for the Systainer system it is pretty impressive. With that said I am thinking about jumping ship to a different stackable organization system. Both the Dewalt tough system and the Packout look good to me. Thanks for the vid.

Love your channel spent an hr in home depot yesterday examining all the black fri sales. I'm kinda impartial to rigid because of afforabilty but I'm often disappointed at how the parent company leaves them out of technological advancements. One thing I would really like to see is the 7" table wet saw adaptable to their stackable storage compartments. It's basically the same size only missing the secure latches. Another disappointmen is the crate storage which I own two of. At 20.00 the most affordable bin on the market. Rigid does not make a slot for their security padlock bar to bind it. Keep up the good work love your reviews

Useful vid. Lord the Festool stuff is expensive here, although the boxes alone are similar price to L-boxxes. The festool / systainer system has some great touches tho'. The boxes clip onto & can be wheeled around on the dust extractor (££££ but very good extraction) I beleive there is a box that doubles up as an extra fine filter too. Extractor would be no good as a trolley on the average UK potholed muddy building site... Have also seen a review suggesting the boxes are brittle. I have the Bosch / sortimo L-boxx type (probably similar plastic to systainer) but each box is pricey unless you get one with a tool. Also the std inserts are crap. Was thinking of upgrading for the 4 tools that came without L-boxxes but it would be about £150 to get them. They can stay in the tote bag or their basic boxes until I get rich... I still have one of the old yellow Donki's with a drawer I fitted but when it's full it needs 2 men to lift it! Tote bags have their uses

Vince we know you have a Ridgid we know you destroy the Ridgid that was your choice to test it like that I was sad you tested it like that but you still did a great job letting people know what it can do and what I can't do I want you to do the same test to your Milwaukee packout now that is three times the price if you do or don't it's up to you but I still enjoy your show and you better start drinking monster energy drinks and said that Red Bull cuz I haven't seen Wings on you yet

I am a Bosch man through and through, but I really think they could do a lot better with their storage. I have some L-Boxx and they’re ok, but nothing special, they are virtually the same as some Atlas Copco/Milwaukee (they were the same company back then) boxes I had nearly 20 years ago, so they’re kinda dated now. My buddy has the Milwaukee packout system and I am very impressed with it, this would be my personal choice, followed by the festool.

My impression is that Bosch, Makita and Dewalt to a certain extent have rested on their laurels. Milwaukee (Craftsman too) has seemed to step it up a bit. Currently, on the job tested Milwaukee drills outperform the others in durability. Good vid. TY.

I got packout because of convenience other won’t give it to me plus it didn’t hurt that price was the same as deWalt middle range system. The Rigdid while nice lacks modularity expansion option.

To be honest, Festool isn't for me since I will be travel a lot. I had a very dilemma on the between of Dewalt and Milwaukee for a while, but in the end, I chose Dewalt since it is right for me. I'm able to custom the tool organizer almost anything. But then I liked their 12V version since it has everything I need for.

The festivals are like your Bosch ones too hard of plastic your other three choices are I think your better ones cuz they could take a little bit of licking but you're right Vince some people like the wine but I got the Ridgid when I get some money I'll probably try to get the pack out
