Things the Perfect Buzz Lightyear toy needs to do: - FULLY Retractable dome - Fully Retractable, light-up wings - Laser - Karate chop - Left arm panel - Glow in the dark - Film accurate sounds
Almost everything you mentioned the Disney Store Buzz has. A fully retractable helmet is impossible physically because there would be no space for the helmet to go inside the toy. The only Buzz I know that has film accurate sound bytes is the original 1995 version, but even then he doesn't have "There's a secret mission in uncharted space, let's go". However, the newest non deluxe version of Disney Store's Buzz Lighyear does have all the in movie quotes, but alas they're not the exact sound bytes.
Alectric something they could also work on is add more articulation in the upper arm. I think they could get his arms to go down a bit further if they reworked the join mechanism, and make the black bits flexible rubber.
I can’t tell you how many hours I spent as a little kid (like 5 years old) trying to do things that movie Buzz could do that my really basic one couldn’t. I wasted so much time trying to do things like pressing on the side of the helmet to open it, pressing on the back attempting the “karate chop action,” and trying to open the wrist communicator. I appreciate Thinkway and Disney making these so much more detailed and movie accurate than the older ones.
While technically not 100% film accurate (even just standing in sid's dimly lit room had him glow when he retreated to the bag), that is neat and forgivable as I don't know how a plastic can naturally glow without electricity.
In terms of appearance, yes the Toy Story Collection version wins at that. But functionality, the Disney Store version wins by far. It seems that Thinkway is purposely throwing in inaccuracies in their collection despite being the actual models from the movies while the Disney Store doesn't have access to the actual in-movie models, but are still trying their hardest to make toys that are functionally accurate to the films.
To me, a kid would prefer a Buzz Lightyear that has all the in-movie features, and would prefer it over looks. Even then, I'm sure a child wouldn't tell the difference between a Disney Store Buzz and movie Buzz. This is coming from my own experiences when I had the original 1995 Woody and thought he looked exactly how he did in the movies, and the only thing setting it apart from the films was how he only had 2 phrases he said in the movie.
In my opinion the Limited Edition Disney Store Buzz’s head sculpt looks a lot like the Toy Story one Buzz where as the Toy Story Collection one is like a Toy Story three head sculpt.
I just changed my channel into a brand account finally get to be displayed as todayigrewup I’m happy but it means all my comments got deleted from the past! Thanks for the comment and also yes I love the Disney store limited edition buzz it’s best for displaying and playing with because the collection one is more fragile I feel.
Without even watching more than 2 seconds I clearly know that the signature collection is going to win it’s so accurate it’s only missing the karate chop action
Honestly the fact it doesn’t have the karate chop action in my opinion makes it better, because at the very least it makes both of the arms posable fully.
Not possible to have the karate chop. They had to sacrifice that to make way for the working "high pressure space wings" complete with the movie accurate lights on the wings.
It actually glows really well if held in direct light first. The paint used is meant to absorb light as a safer alternative to using a paint that glows instantly.
Would you say that the Toy Story Collection Buzz is more film accurate in terms of appearance while the Limited Edition Disney Store Buzz is more film accurate in terms of functions?
I'd much rather Buzz to not have Andy on the boot because my name is not Andy so it doesn't make any sense to have his name on the boot because it wouldn't belong to me.
I think the face sculpt on the disney store buzz is accurate to the first toy story movie and the collection edition is more accurate to toy story 3. In the first film Buzz had an overall more angular face design with a boxy head an uper lip curl and sharp thin eyebrows, but in the third film his hole face was remodeled to be more round and smooth. Each one is farley accurate depending on what movie you are thinking of.
The other thing you didn’t rate between the figures was the locking wrist communicators, the TSC Buzz responds to it being opened and closed as if Star Command was contacting him, or if Buzz is updating his mission log
Personally, I subtract points if it has any features that are NOT in the movie version, since that makes it less accurate. The TSC figure has way too many extra gimmicks that the movie version didn't have, plus it lacks two of the features that the movie DID have (karate chop action and auto-retracting helmet). Meanwhile, special edition Buzz would be perfect if it didn't mix Spanish phrases with English phrases (Spanish is supposed to be a completely separate mode). In my opinion the Disney Store exclusive Buzz is the most accurate since the only thing it's missing is the glow-in-the-dark feature. I wish they would just make a glow-in-the-dark version of that figure.
Both of them glow in the dark. Hold the TSC Buzz in direct light for a few moments, then turn off the light, and he will glow. The paint used is meant to absorb light to provide the glow, which is generally safer than paint that glows instantly.
Nah, TSC has the wrist communicator, individual finger movement and a flexible torso, also the flashing engines on the disney store buzz weren't a feature in the film either

I Have The Buzz Lightyear Signature Collection Still In The Box Never Opened & I Bought It At A Target For $90. Will The Value Go Up In The Coming Years?
The Only Problem That I Notice Is When I Press The Green Button It Talks For 2 Second Then It Freezes. I Don't Know If It's Broken Or The Battery Might Need To Be Changed. I'm Just Going To Leave It The Way It Is.
Yeah better to leave it as it is but the problem is sometimes the batters can leak or corrode with time so if you store them with batteries inside you need to make sure your toy is in a cool and dry place and away from sunlight much you can.
want a limited edition buzz lightyear that that it has voices in English and Spanish and I will leave even though the karate chop action and I would I would just like that figure as in my in my book they're both cool
Inspired by this video, I came up with an idea for the ideal Buzz Lightyear toy. From the Limited Edition Disney Store toy, it has the shade of green, whoosh thing, karate chop action, straight wings, glowing exhaust, and glow in the dark trim. From the Toy Story Collection toy, it has the extra space when the rings are retracted, the head, the rubber mid section, lack of a name on his foot, laser sound and effect, duration and sync of the wingtip lights (off from the exhaust, but that's okay), the "Talk Back" toggled with the green chest bar, the Space Ranger and Toy Buzz mode (toggled on my fictional toy with the blue chest bar; the red chest bar just speaks the Spanish voice clips of the Limited Edition Disney Store toy), sensors for determining if he is "flying" and when he has landed, and wiggle room between the top of the head and the helmet. I decided not to have the motor turn the head on mine. Also, I don't plan to really make it; it can remain in the realm of fiction.
I had the real one. When I was 5 years old my mom was dragging me out of Walmart kicking and screaming saying "I want that f$$$ing potato head" 😂😂 it was a giant one too.
Alright, I think we all agree that Signature Collection only needs the Karate Hit, the Helmet thing, Andy on the boot and maybe Shining in the dark would be also cool.
In a perfect world, we would have a buzz lightyear toy that has the right proportions, movie accuracy, glow in the dark, right sounds etc. But we do not live in a perfect world.
EL Alex show, yes but updated and they have a much better wingspan come with blinking lights, and a Flip open wrist communicator, and karate chopping action. And has a lot more sings from the movie and also has Spanish mode. And has a push button to open up the helmet. He is the greatest toy on earth. Warning: not a flying toy. Get your Buzz lightyear action figure and save the galaxy near you! Available only at Disney stores around the globe.
@@todayigrewup I think proportions are fine except for the head and the helmet. Thanks to his big shoulders he looks much more fit than the TSC and from the side he is way more slim (the jetpack is way too thick on the TSC one and has an ugly gap which is not in the movie). Wings on disney store one have a different spreading system, but at least they look better when closed and are fully horizontal when opened, not oblique
Hi todayigrewup! I was sad when I realized that the wrist communicator, green wing tip, and the head motor on my toy story signature collection buzz Lightyear from target were all broken. They weren’t working. I wanted to return it but on target.com and the target app said that I only had time to return within 90 days of the ship date. Are there any tips you have to fix these problems? I’m going to Disneyland this weekend, and was planning to get their version of buzz, but I wanted to see if there were any ways to fix these problems. Thank you!
Yeah unfortunately the wiring inside Buzz is very sophisticated and complicated. You would have to have soldering and wire knowledge to do any repairs that would work. I’m sorry to hear yours are not working now. I don’t recommend people play with their signature toys because they can break easier, I feel it’s more for display and very very light and rare use. Otherwise getting a Disney store Buzz is best if you play with it more it will last really long time with some rough use, for only $30 it’s worth picking up.
The Toy Story Collection buzz is the most movie accurate one you can buy, however it's not good as a toy. It's not very durable and can get scratched easily. I'd say get that one but keep it in the box because its box is awesome and buy the disney store one for playing with.
@@todayigrewup I kind of wish they updated the toy story collection buzz to have the karate chop action and stuff, that toy is 10 years old and it's still somehow the best buzz lightyear toy out there... Would've loved a redesign.
Actually my grandpa bought me the Toy Story collection Buzz when I was around 8 years old and I played with him almost everyday!I still have him because he was my favourite toy and I can say that he is still in a good condition. The only thing that isn't in good shape are the stickers and that's mostly on me and the amount I played with him!In my opinion if a child is even a little careful and doesn't play with him too harshly he can be a good child toy!
@@giorgos_karidopoulos I had that toy twice and it got messed up both times, the quality was kind of bad on it to be honest. I'll probably buy it again some day just to have a collectors item.
@@BDTech9 I had a really good experience playing with the TSC Buzz when I was a kid and the last time i saw it maybe a year or 2 ago (it was still several years old at that point) it was in near perfect condition. Sadly I can't find it for the life of me...
Yeah totally understand the concept and it works for those who want that. I want Andy's toys from the movie so I want Andy's official hand writing from pixar digital files. It’s more like it jumped out of the screen for me like a movie prop.
I just wanna see a Buzz Lightyear taken out of the movie that can do what the movie toy does: glowing in the dark, all the phrases it has, pressing a button to retrieve the helmet, the karate chop. As if Andy had given me his toy.
That exactly what I want! I chase film accuracy but unfortunately the is what we have so far. Still happy with these but wish they were combined into one.
Which Talking Spanish Buzz Lightyear action figure is the best one? Thinkway doesn't count because it doesn't have bendable knees,it's either Disney Store/Disney Collection,or Special Edition. It's kind of difficult because Disney Store/Disney Collection has a grim expression, while Special Edition glows in the dark,so which Disney Store Advanced Spanish Buzz seems the best?

@@todayigrewup thanks...another question I have is that I noticed that alot of the new toy story toys will look the same but the packaging will look slightly different...would u be able to explain that?
@@todayigrewup maybe it got worn off after few years but its been on display mostly. :( I love to play with it and want to take it to cinema. Helmet being lose bogs me a lot. It kinda opens itself a bit on its own with slight movement of a figure. Does it happen to yours, too?
The helmet is still there here some people like to remove it cause it looks more like the movie for displaying. I wish the helmet could go back all the way like the movie instead of opening and closing half way.
Even disney story buzz can do the thing when u open the helmet first press both button voice button and helmet open button almost forgot what about wrist commmunicater
TodayIGrewUP yeah as far as the wrist communicator goes Disney store buzz for sure is more movie accurate A Because it doesn’t make any sound effects and the toy story collection Buzz Lightyear does ,where as in the movie the wrist communicator doesn’t make any sound effects and and on The Disney store Buzz Lightyear the area inside the communicator is curved and on the collection buzz the area inside is completely flat and in the movie the wrist communicator is curved a little on the inside But I do think Disney store Buzz is curved slightly to much but I don’t think that’s very noticeable but Disney store Buzz has definitely has the more accurate communicator because of those reasons.
TodayIGrewUP when I was watching this video I gave Disney store Buzz a point because it doesn’t make any sound effects and that’s how it was in the movie if you ask me features that Buzz didn’t have in the movie should not get a point because Toy story collection Buzz has way to many extra gimmicks it takes away from the accuracy so Disney store Buzz Lightyear could be more accurate
I actually used to have a TSC Buzz but I sold it at a yard sale, not knowing how valuable it would be in the future 🤦♂️ Luckily I still have TSC Woody!
Great video! I just bought a brand new signature collection buzz lightyear and sometimes it wont finish his phrases, he says a part of it and then cut it to do the laser sound, do you think it could be the batteries running out? Or is it defective?

The Only Problem That I Notice Is When I Press The Green Button It Talks For 2 Second Then It Freezes. I Don't Know If It's Broken Or The Battery Might Need To Be Changed. I'm Just Going To Leave It The Way It Is.
Yeah better to leave it as it is but the problem is sometimes the batters can leak or corrode with time so if you store them with batteries inside you need to make sure your toy is in a cool and dry place and away from sunlight much you can.
want a limited edition buzz lightyear that that it has voices in English and Spanish and I will leave even though the karate chop action and I would I would just like that figure as in my in my book they're both cool
your vids are so good quality
Thanks Omar
TodayIGrewUP your welcome :)
Yeah true sounds great
I had the real one. When I was 5 years old my mom was dragging me out of Walmart kicking and screaming saying "I want that f$$$ing potato head" 😂😂 it was a giant one too.
Oh wow Hahahaa
The one on the right just by looking at them
4:57, what Buzz was doing lol, you had to move the hand to another direction, because it looks like other thing jaja
I like how the signature collection one has the box from the movie
Yeah that’s honestly one of my most favorite things!!!
Alright, I think we all agree that Signature Collection only needs the Karate Hit, the Helmet thing, Andy on the boot and maybe Shining in the dark would be also cool.
Yeah definitely 🤠
Also longer/straighter wings, arms that go down, and ball joints
I actually like how the tsc one doesn't have "Andy" on the shoe because then kids can write their own name.
Yeah that was the intended purpose that’s why they did that. For me I enjoy movie accurate props so that’s why I wanted Andy.
TodaylGrewup 😎😎😎👍🏻 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 i went Buzz Lightyer 😎👍🏻
Buzz is the best toy ever
Me:I must get subs!!!!
You:let’s get the same ones
Me:okay!!
Lol cool
In a perfect world, we would have a buzz lightyear toy that has the right proportions, movie accuracy, glow in the dark, right sounds etc. But we do not live in a perfect world.
I wish!
Reality is often disappointing.
I Think DS Buzz looks more like the Buzz Lightyears they came out back in 1995
Generally speaking, it looks more like the Buzz Lightyear from the first movie
The Disney store one does look a little "fat"
@@kadensmodifications it's exactly the opposite lol even from the side
TodayIGrewUP thank you! I will definitely get the Disney store buzz! You’re the best TH-camr ever! I’ll give you a shoutout! 😁
TSC Buzz👍
DS Buzz👎
I agree!!!!
@Alhammadi Game I was joking
@Alhammadi Game I was gonna delete it
@Alhammadi Game calm down
@Alhammadi Game sorry TwT
1 thing... in the movie the lights at the back are just stickers, it’s only on Buzz 2.0 that has blinking lights on back and glow in dark
Yeah you’re right, I screwed up there.
@@shmooptifloop8118 check the Disney store?
1:00 The ONE with the rocket ship pakage is y favorite caus it looks so much like the ONE from the film.
Yes agreed it’s fun 🤠
Even John Lasseter said that they didn’t put Andy because it’s supposed to be yours and not Andy’s
Yeah totally understand the concept and it works for those who want that. I want Andy's toys from the movie so I want Andy's official hand writing from pixar digital files. It’s more like it jumped out of the screen for me like a movie prop.
Whats your opinion, which buzz is better, white logo buzz or signature collection buzz
I talk about that in this video here th-cam.com/video/WpKbRaZYu6w/w-d-xo.html
K thanks
You know, I actually don’t think this is a competition. TSC Buzz definitely
@@todayigrewup I mean, is it really that hard to look at small details? As if I bought it out of Al's Barn. Same with Woody.
you would be surprised the comments I get from people who cant see the difference for themselves..
I got Signature collection Buzz for my birthday
Congratulations partner and happy birthday! To infinity and beyond :)
@@todayigrewup Thx :)
I feel this new limited edition Buzz is the best Spanish Buzz, he looks most movie accurate and it’s more awesome he glows so bright!!!
That Replica buzz was 50 bucks back in 2009/10.
Yeah that’s how much I bought it for
Bought mine at Toys R Us 😔
Disney store buzz: film features
Collection buzz: film replicas
Haha yup
Also TSC moves all 4 fingers
Yeah you are right about that! I forgot to mention it
7:46
"Toy Story Collection Buzz's glow is not so good."
**dosent glow at all**
Hahahaha it does glow, it’s just not that bright at all and it’s hard to see on camera
@@todayigrewup if it does, then it must be the most lame glow in the dark in history
It's a shame that we never have a Buzz Lightyear Toy like in the Movie.😒
I agree! Maybe one day someone will release a better one
Quick question what batteries does the 1995 Thinkway buzz run on?
I think it’s double AA batteries
Oh thanks my brothers buzz is out of batteries
Does the toy story collection buzz glow in the dark at all?
It does but you have to charge him for a long time and also the camera it’s hard to pick up but it does glow! Disney store is just a brighter glow.
8:03 (opens face shield or helmet) (Buzz chokes and gags) Buzz: The air isn’t toxic! HOW DARE YOU OPEN A SPACEMAN’S HELMET ON AN UNCHARTED PLANET MY EYEBALLS COULD’VE BEEN SUCKED FROM THEIR SOCKETS!!
Hahahaha best scene ever
Hey there! Great review!! But in my Humble opinion when it comes to Toy Story toys and movie accuracy Think Way toys does the best! And will beat out the Disney store ones hands down every time! 😊
the glow in the dakr is awesome
Thanks I love it too 🤠
Honestly I think Thinkway should have made the non-Toy Story Collection with more articulation, like a G.I. Joe instead of 4 points with stiff legs.
Hey are you familiar with the mini 9 inch buzz lightyear figures???...their almost like these ones except the wings dont pop out
I’ve seen them they are cool looking
@@todayigrewup do you know if any of them came out with actual pop out wings?
not that I have seen..
@@todayigrewup thanks...another question I have is that I noticed that alot of the new toy story toys will look the same but the packaging will look slightly different...would u be able to explain that?
anyone knows what to do with the wonky helmet opening itself in the spaceship box version?
I mean it’s really meant more for display I don’t know how to improve that
@@todayigrewup maybe it got worn off after few years but its been on display mostly. :( I love to play with it and want to take it to cinema. Helmet being lose bogs me a lot. It kinda opens itself a bit on its own with slight movement of a figure. Does it happen to yours, too?
No mine doesn't do this but I know that these toys are very fragile...I would contact thinkway company and ask them for some sort of replacement..
I had ONE of thoose as a kid, with a Woody too. WHEN i wathced the Movie. I was keeping an eye on Them!
Awesome 🤠
Why did they removed the helmet from buzz
The helmet is still there here some people like to remove it cause it looks more like the movie for displaying. I wish the helmet could go back all the way like the movie instead of opening and closing half way.
My signature collection buzz’s head is broken... :( but it’s getting fixed :)
I hope it gets fixed soon 😀
Thanks :)
Even disney story buzz can do the thing when u open the helmet first press both button voice button and helmet open button almost forgot what about wrist commmunicater
Yeah wrist communicator makes a sound on TSC but on Disney store it doesn’t
TodayIGrewUP yeah as far as the wrist communicator goes Disney store buzz for sure is more movie accurate A Because it doesn’t make any sound effects and the toy story collection Buzz Lightyear does ,where as in the movie the wrist communicator doesn’t make any sound effects and and on The Disney store Buzz Lightyear the area inside the communicator is curved and on the collection buzz the
area inside is completely flat and in the movie the wrist communicator is curved a little on the inside But I do think Disney store Buzz is curved slightly to much but I don’t think that’s very noticeable but Disney store Buzz has definitely has the more accurate communicator because of those reasons.
You videos are funny
You forgot the arm thing on his arm the little thing he flips open and talks on his arm
Yes it’s a wrist communicator I did forget and it makes a sound when you open it up, so I would give TSC another point 11 to 8 points now.
Yes
TodayIGrewUP when I was watching this video I gave Disney store Buzz a point because it doesn’t make any sound effects and that’s how it was in the movie if you ask me features that Buzz didn’t have in the movie should not get a point because Toy story collection Buzz has way to many extra gimmicks it takes away from the accuracy so Disney store Buzz Lightyear could be more accurate
I actually used to have a TSC Buzz but I sold it at a yard sale, not knowing how valuable it would be in the future 🤦♂️ Luckily I still have TSC Woody!
Wow crazy but I’m glad you still have Woody
You forgot to do the communicator
Yeah I did, wrist communicator makes a sound when you open it on TSC so that gets another point 11 to 8.
Great video! I just bought a brand new signature collection buzz lightyear and sometimes it wont finish his phrases, he says a part of it and then cut it to do the laser sound, do you think it could be the batteries running out? Or is it defective?
Please do live action toy story stuff! I 👍 and subscribed!
7:55 wait what ? Toy Story Collection Buzz glows in the dark ! Well, mine does. I thought it was the same on all of them 🤔
It does glow just not very bright
What if someone took a shot every time he said Buzz?
You’d be very drunk sir
Do you plan to get the Takora Tomy Buzz Lightyear with all the moving joints and stand? I think it's called "Real Posing Buzz".
I hear it doesn’t talk?! :(
@@todayigrewup Yeah. Also sadly none of his buttons work. I guess he was only made for poses.
THE OTHER ONE DOES GLOW TOO! It needs light
Yeah it does need light to glow
Yes he does you just have to charge him
Is the one on the right (ts collection) came out 2009? What year is the the one on the left (limited)
2019 it just came out for toy story 4 at Disney store and buzz got released again currently at target for $90 but under the new “signature collection line” first buzz from thinkway of this type was out in 2009 I have that older version. That is what you see on the right here.
@@todayigrewup what year is your limited edition? which limited edition has the Bonnie name at the bottom?
@@todayigrewup Isn't it there is a new interactive version of the one on the left(limited)?
Yes there is that’s just regular buzz from Disney store
2019 and there is also a new regular buzz with Bonnie on bottom of foot I believe from Disney store I don’t have that one
I just got a toy story collection Buzz :)
That’s awesome! Congrats!
Hey witch one do you like t he best
Toy story collection but I love the karate chop action on buzz and glow in the dark better there.
