    Can the On-Demand marketplace stay afloat? Tony Xu, CEO and Co-founder of DoorDash, sits down with Jason for an in depth interview on This Week in Startups to explain how his company has scaled in the On-Demand economy. The discussion ranges from growth and sustainability to the difficulties of the restaurant business in general. With the minimum wage increasing and the market consistently fluctuating, On-Demand is one of the most difficult areas for entrepreneurs to break into. So getting insights from a founder who is thriving in that space is a truly educational experience.

    16:24 POS systems often time are older. Restaurants are good at using the newer equipment. But retail stores at check out counters use really old technology. So I can see the need for faxes.

    Teretha TheWord Young I just received a delivery from door dash here in North Carolina from Shane's rib shack. I only ordered a grilled chicken tenders sandwich, fries, tea and peach cobbler. Everything was either cold or not good at all. The fries look like they had been sitting for hours and tasted that way also. The cobbler wasn't even hot as it should be. The sandwich was dry in some places on the chicken were stuff to chew. The tea tasted ok! The guy gave me a famous, 5.00 credit! Basically, I had no dinner to eat. So here is what happened. Your order was either very far away or you didn't offer a decent tip to the driver. All Dashers rejected to complete your order because the payout was too low and didn't make sense to them (Dollars to mileage driven ratio). After awhile DoorDash will increase the base payout of your order to drivers until they can find a driver willing to fulfill your order. While these low ball offers are going out to drivers, your food is ready and getting cold. If you want to make sure you get your order right away you need to order from a location within 10 miles of your home and make sure you tip well. Part of the problem is on you, part is on DoorDash, and part is on the restaurant for not keeping your order warm until it is picked up by a driver.

    I wish the issues of the pay cuts and the app problems for the dashers would have been addressed. The late ordering should have also been brought up. Wish I could be the operations manager for Doordash, all of these problems would be solved.

    • @annettekoch3766
      @annettekoch3766 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The drivers are stuck with issues like going to a restaurant that is closed, customer giving wrong address, customer waiting hours for food because of app malfunctions. They could improve so much if they would have communication with their drivers instead of dinging the driver ratings for doordash mistakes.

      these interviews are curated. All it is making appearances and saying pretty words despite what is actually going on. Damage control.
      Gotta ask, why is it never any of the important question and on the rare occasion it is its not pressured and we get half assed empty damage control like response from tony and the interviewer is content.
      Wouldnt be surprised if doordash pays for these interviews, cause no one actually really cares other than drivers..

    • @michaelhuebner6843
      @michaelhuebner6843 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not how anything works dude. All offers start at a $3 payout to drivers. If all drivers reject that order after awhile, DoorDash will increase the base payout of the order until a driver accepts it. The other factor of pay is customer tip. If you continually get low offers that means that people that live in your area don't tip well. That is a problem of your neighbors being cheapskates, not DoorDash. You want to deliver in upper middle class areas. Avoid rich areas because rich people are cheapskates. Avoid poor areas because the customers are poor. Upper middle class people tip the best.

    1. Don't take anything under $10.00
    2. Every 1 mile you drive you've got to make at least $2.00
    3. Never accept stacked order.
    4. Boycott merchants who had history of making you wait for too long.
    5. Don't accept any order where your drop off location is outside of your zone
    6. Anthony Xu is a crook who exploits delivery drivers. Don't forget that

    • @michaelhuebner6843
      @michaelhuebner6843 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like you make 1 delivery every 2 hours. Your minimums are way too high. My minimum is $1 per mile or higher (nothing over 10 miles), $6 for a single order and $4 for a stacked order ($5 for a single order if low Peak Pay and business is slow). I average about 2.5 deliveries per hour and I make on average $18 per hour in my market.

    Profitable orders are safer orders 2 million drivers with the potential to be attacked with unnecessary nonprofitable orders the being retaliated against for declining orders causing more dangerous distractions .
    All solved profitable orders limit distractions and unnecessary unlawful attacks by door dash.
    Less food waisted, customers have less wait times driving is safer with out door dash attacking drivers while driving.
    This interview is bullshit his tactics have gotten way more dangerous, and they.
    Tony xu being generous tipper I would never believe the way he treats drivers attacking them with fake app issues while driving.
    He must be a Gemini his interviews show one side and and causing dangerous conditions for drivers trying to make a profit.
